As a Navy SEAL, Matt O’Connor specializes in Bad Boy. At least, that’s what he thinks…until he finds himself face down on the floor during a bank robbery, arguing with a sexy, bad-girl blonde who wields her sharp tongue with surgical precision. Just like that, Matt begins to wonder if maybe the idea of settling down with one woman isn’t as crazy as he thought. Savannah Hart As a Navy SEAL, Matt O’Connor specializes in Bad Boy. Just like that, Matt begins to wonder if maybe the idea of settling down with one woman isn’t as crazy as he thought. Savannah Harte is addicted to first kisses and whirlwind romances. Once the thrill is gone, though, she’s outta there. She’s eager to follow the adrenaline rush she feels with Matt into the nearest bed, but when tangled sheets begin to feel like tangled heartstrings, her first instinct is to cut him loose. There’s only one problem: Matt’s not going anywhere. And not even a steamy threesome seems to dull her growing feelings. Which leaves Savannah having to decide what she wants more. The casual thrill of now…or the scary thrill of forever. Product Warnings: This title features a hot threesome with explicit sex, a bad-girl heroine, and two Navy SEALs guaranteed to make you sweat.

Probably my least favorite entry of a pretty enjoyable series, but only because of the "slutty" heroine. I know, I know, a slutty hero I can take, but I have different standards for my heroines.:) Anyhow, our Navy SEAL hero (southern 'gentleman' Matt O'Connor) and our heroine (buxom blonde flower shop owner Savannah) meet in an unusual way. They're involved in a bank robbery when a trio of inept criminals hold up the local Savings and Loan. Savannah and Matt are down on the bank floor, trading quips and sarcasms about the bumbling robbers (this surprised me--I thought they should've taken this a bit more seriously). When Matt has had enough of this trio, he single handedly brings them down (he is a SEAL, of course). This impresses Savannah, (who hereafter refers to him as 'Superman'), but not enough to go out with him (she can't ditch her upcoming date to go out with Matt, no matter how yummy his big bad body and shaved head appeals to her). This surprises 'player' Matt---there isn't a woman alive who can resist his charm(s), and makes Savannah all the more intriguing to him. Matt... Well you know that's not the end. Matt meets up wiith Savannah again when she collaborates on a wedding with his friend, event planner Annabelle Heat Of The Night. The sparks are still there and this time Savannah relents, but lays it on the line. She doesn't do 'relationships', doesn't like to 'date'--all she's interested in is the hot sex she can have with studly Matt. Hey, she sounds like the female version of commitment-phobe Matt! Of course they go on to have steamy hot sex, but surprise surprise... it's not enough for Matt. He wants the whole shebang. Now how does he go about convincing Savannah that she wants the same thing, but just doesn't know it yet? Okay, I had some issues with Savannah. Yes, she was a one-night-stand kind of girl, addicted to the thrill of 'the first time', and I thought there would be some really crappy childhood to explain why she was this way. But nope. Just a fear of ending up in a rut like her happily married parents, and a few failed relationships of her own was all it took for her to stop looking for love. Matt I liked. He was hot and sexy and willing to change when he thought he found the perfect woman. I wanted him to get his HEA, just wasn't convinced that he should be with the female version of himself. The (technical) heat was high in this one. Of course Matt and Savannah were hot. And when Savannah insisted on a ménage (in the hopes that Matt would be turned off and lose interest in her), they invited Matt's Navy buddy Aidan to participate. Yowza! But not much emotional heat for me until near the end of the book. Aidan... This is a good series if you're looking for some hot times between a group of Navy SEALs and the women they end up with. Some of the stories overlap and there's a few times when the guys are involved in ménages with their friend's woman (before they find their own woman), so if that doesn't bother you I think you'll enjoy these short reads. The fact that the stories are linked at least lets you know a little bit more about the heroes, since you'll at least meet them in a previous book. Savannah was my least favorite heroine in this series, but that doesn't mean she won't appeal to other readers. The story was still hot and entertaining, and it didn't dull my enthusiasm for the series. Hopefully the dimpled stud Aidan will get a story next? 3 1/2 stars

Well, seems like all in the stories of the Out of Uniform series are the same when it comes to plot, so I think it depends on the characters whether I like the story or not. I didn’t like Savannah. Selfish, arrogant, and she has a distorted attitude toward life and love. Matt of course changes due to the right woman, and all of a sudden he becomes the most committed guy ever, and Savannah realizes that with Matt every moment is thrilling. Matt’s personality is nothing special or memorable. He has a great moment though, when he pays back Savannah her fake-disinterest in him, it is a truly LMAO episode. The erotic scenes are extremely hot, as usual in Elle Kennedy’s books, especially that threesome with Aidan. All in all, aside from the characters, I enjoyed the humor and the erotica in the story, but the characters, their motivation and change of attitude fell short to me.

This was a very pleasant little read. I've not read any of the others in the series, but it really didn't matter. I liked the hero, I liked the heroine, I liked the theme of committment-phobia, and I loved the way it's written. The hero and the heroine are essentially young, free, single and loving it. They please themselves, but don't get me wrong, they are not selfish, or unpleasant, and I got the impression they would simply be great fun to hang out with - funny, witty, easy-going and grounded. Their committment-phobia was well-described, and totally believable. I don't know whether they'll have a HEA, but I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. This is quite a short little book. Not a novella, but not the usual length either, and, you know what, it really, really worked. It was like a little snapshot in time, focusing on just one part of this couple's life, without boring me to tears with lots of page-filling, irrelevant minutia. I liked that. However, what really made this a great read for me was how it was written. The language is very fresh, the characters spoke how people really do - with humor, sarcasm, uncertainty, swearing (but not all over the place), and the cultural references were just totally spot-on. 4 stars, and I'll pick up the others in the series at some point, simply because it's nice to have something smutty like this to read every now and then, without worry about reading out of order, or having to commit a great deal of time to reading it.

He's never been tongue-tied around any woman before, so this new development baffles him. The blonde, Savannah, turns him down and Matt is left wondering why it bothers him that he struck out. Savannah Harte doesn't do relationships. She lives for the thrill of first kisses, first dates, and no strings attached sex. As soon as things get too comfortable, she's outta there. A coincidence brings Matt and Savannah together again, and this time there's no escaping the lust that pulls them together. She lays down the ground rules for Matt, but he's oddly disturbed by them. He decides to do something he's never done before – he's going to get to know her and hope to turn their "agreement" into something more. Things seem to be looking up for Matt. She seems to be perfect for him – she matches his passion for sex, she's funny, she's sassy, and they have great conversations. Maybe he's slowly changing her mind about her ridiculous hang ups. Or is he? Savannah is in a full blown panic. Matt lays everything on the line, and she has to come up with a plan to push him away. She suggest a threesome with Matt's friend, Aidan. Her plan backfires on her, but she's still left with a pain in her heart she refuses to acknowledge. Will her stubbornness sabotage her chance at something great? Not my favorite story at all. Though Matt was awesome – he's a SEAL, he's bald (by choice), and the image of him in cami pants, boots, olive shirt and aviator glasses sent my heart pitter patter. I just found the premise for the H/H's hang ups utterly ridiculous. Sorry, but it is! Savannah's parents have always been silly in love, even after many years of marriage, whereas Savannah has never been lucky in love. She always got dumped for one reason or another, so she vows never to become like her parents. What?! Matt's entire family has always been touchy feely, gushing with emotions and not afraid to express their feelings. That has always made him uncomfortable. Again, what?! I have no problems with the threesomes in these stories, but they've never been used to hurt another person. In this case, Savannah using it to make Matt fall out of love with her made me hate her. If she really didn't want him around anymore, there are nicer ways to get the point across and get someone to leave you alone (even if it's not the fastest way). I'm just not a fan of people, who can cut a person down without batting an eye. Not cool! This story should have ended with Ryan and Annabelle's HEA; on a high note.

And a strict no-relationship policy. Just fun, no-strings sex. And though the sexy SEAL that thwarted the bank robbery makes her tingle all over, she's already seeing someone. Little does she expect to have him show up in her flower shop two weeks later. Normally it'd be Matt's dream come true - a hot woman looking for a couple of weeks of mind-blowing sex, no strings, no expectations, no dates. Oddly enough though, he finds himself wanting more with Savannah immediately. Savannah was easy to like, she's so utterly comfortable with her sexuality and her wants that you had to love the way she went after it. And her sarcastic sense of humor really made her a nice fit for Matt. Speaking of Matt, he's just as charming as he's always been, with that southern drawl making women melt all over the place. Like most of the books in this series, there is a threesome in this book - and it's probably the only one in the series that I didn't really appreciate it. At least at first. I didn't like Savannah's reasons for wanting it. I sincerely wanted these two to find a way to make it work, and to realize that they were perfect for each other, if they'd just take the chance on love.

Matt O'Connor is single and has more women hanging off his jock, than he knows what do with them. Until Savannah. Savannah's sassy, knows what she wants and is not afraid to ask for it. This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. The beginning was wonderfully hilarious but once the relationship developed, the premise lost credibility. The idea that the two main characters were adamantly adverse to relationships because each of them came from extremely loving families is a little strange to me. I've enjoyed the other books from this series though.

This book had all the sexy flavor it needed: sugar and spice and everything naughty galore. Unfortunately the romance between our hero, Matt O’Connor, and our heroine, Savannah Harte, was sorely lacking. First, I was disappointed with Matt in this one. In novella five he was a real charmer with a delectable southern drawl. He was an unrepentant man whore. As such, I was really excited to see his story. Unfortunately, it seemed that Kennedy didn’t quite know what to do with Matt – he was too charming, too sexually indiscriminate, for her to handle. So instead she used a very saucy Savannah to disarm him and instead of having him rise to the challenge she supplied, he got to stutter his way through being stunned by her… I don’t know, by her beauty or something. I was sorely disappointed as he went from being suave and cool to an amateur. Savannah had issues, but I liked the way she dealt with them. Her insecurities, hiding behind her blasé exterior, seemed very real and I was glad her character rang true. Some might call her easy, or sleazy, but I would call her refreshingly contemporary. Kennedy throws the stereotype of “a woman who gets laid a lot is a whore, a man who gets laid a lot is a hero” in our faces. Savannah can be hated or loved for her ‘easiness’, but I found her total sexual freedom electrifying. Matt’s determination to hold on to her was cute and fun even if a little unrealistic for the aforementioned reasons. I was able to enjoy the story even if it was an average run-of-the-mill Samhain novella. I gave a less-than-average grade because I was so disappointed with Matt’s weak and nervous character and the lack of romance. I was really looking forward to this one and it was, in the end, a disappointment. “Sexy”ness rating: Hot aplenty! Overall Rating: C- Bottom Line: As usual in the Out of Uniform series, it’s all about the sex and not nearly enough about the romance. This book wasn’t bad – it just was a little lacking in the ‘love’ arena.

The action starts out fast and furious (mmmm I sense a movie title in there somewhere), a bank robbery in progress, people cowering on the floor, lives being threatened by the likes of Hook Nose, Black Hair and Red Shoes. With the crisis averted, Matt decides to make a move on his snark-alicous partner-in-crime and ask her out for dinner. When she appears to think it over before stamping “Denied” on his forehead, Matt is dumbfounded, literally in shock - Who the hell mulls over going out on a date with him? With a sympathetic grin and a sassy wave, Savannah Harte leaves Matt O‘Connor in her wake to nurse his wounded ego. You go girl! Big, bad-ass, bald, commitment-phob, Navy SEAL Matt O’Connor finally meets the one girl who doesn’t want a relationship. He’s been a man-slut for years and in his own words “if he were counting notches on his belt - he would need 10 of them.” It seemed kind of like poetic justice then that Savannah Harte, owner of her own florist business Harte to Harte was the first girl to put the unflappable Matt off his game. Savannah should have been the girl of Matt's dreams...she just wanted to have sex with him and then when she got bored with him as she inevitably would, she would just send him on his merry way with no regrets. But the more serious Matt got about having a real relationship with Savannah, the more she was determined to keep things between them all about the S-E-X. This is my first Elle Kennedy book and although it’s the sixth book in the series, I had no issue picking up this series midstream. There are mentions of characters I’m going to take a major leap and assume are from previous books, but they had no real bearing on this story. This was a fast, easy, sexy read as this commitment challenged duo tried to get past their fears and give love a chance to bloom. I will definitely be checking out some of the other Men in Uniform stories in the series.

What bothers me most about this story is actually the goddamn fans of this series reviewing this book. If you dislike The Heat Is On because Savannah is a love 'em & leave 'em kind of girl and think that makes her a slut, but you're okay with the men on the team having that kind of cavalier attitude toward relationships and sex before their big AHA moment each book, YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF. That is called a double standard, my friends, and you're a hypocrite for loving the men of team 15 but hating a woman for having the same traits. I actually find Savannah most refreshing. Having been burned in the past, she guards her heart fiercely but still seeks out pleasure because it's her body and, as a grown woman, she can do whatever the hell she wants with it. Was The Heat is On a literary masterpiece? No. It's not even close to being toward the top of the series in my opinion, but I still appreciate Elle branching out with her heroines, something that she continues to explore in the last four stories. I fully believe that Savannah's character directly led to Jen, Mia, Claire, and Miranda's development as three dimensional, complex characters, and I appreciate that.

I still think this is a great series and I will definitely recommend and reread, but this one will more than likely get skipped.

I didn't like Savannah at all. With all the other heroines in this series they all come together at some point and bond with her I don't see that happening. She's not my favorite at all. Matt didn't even make sense to me. I didn't even like the threesome part. It felt forced. He was so upset and then he was fine? okay... She only did it to put distance between them not because she genuinely wanted to have one. didn't really care for it.

Its more or like the other one. A hot read. A threesome once, before getting back with the one you like. But I like Matt, how he stammered and always saying something that embarrass him. It was kind of cute. Well, until Savannah. It was great, she's a take charge woman who knows what she likes but at the last part, where she's the one who instigated the threesome hoping for Matt to go home running, I think that was lame. But the firsts, it was cute.

I stopped reading The Heat is On when the Matt, a SEAL, is referenced as a soldier. Soldiers are in the Army and sailors are in the Navy. In my opinion, the terms are not interchangeable. I know it’s a picky quibble, but I wasn’t able to continue with the story.

Just wasn't feeling this one. Matt and Savannah don't want to be in a relationship because they came from loving families? What? Too much for me.

Matt is another member of the team we have been reading about during these books. He sees himself as a badboy and doesn't see the point of relationships. She now sticks to friends with benefits and when the passion is gone she moves on to the next. Her feelings for Matt scare her. Can she be in a relationship that won't become boring? I love the humor in this book and the funny situations that occur. Matt is sweet and tries his hardest to get Savannah to go on a date. Without realizing it he really is romantic and you can't help but love him. Savannah is a hard working woman who loves her own flower business. She thinks she knows what she wants, but I like how Matt throws her off her feet. Once again the chemistry is perfect and Elle Kennedy makes you love these characters. We get more of the previous characters and it makes you want more!

2 stars - just ok. I'm really glad I started this series in the middle, with the first full-length novel because the novels worked a lot better for me than the novellas; the novellas all seemed sort of like the same story with different character names. the heat is on (original #6) with matt and savannah, read as part of the hot and heavy collection (#4-6 out of uniform) were all fine, but given that I literally just read them and I can't 100% recall the details of any of them because they're all 2 stars - just ok. EK's writing overall is good; these just got repetitive for me.

I left literotica as I could not stand the poor writing of the wannabe authors. I have gotten my sexy story fix with romance and erotic romance since then. The sex scenes never go very far though... until this book. Mix good writing with graphic sex scenes, and it is dynamite. This is my least fave of the series so far. I enjoyed Matt and him trying to change and not be such a man whore, but then he meets Savannah who is just as sexual as he is. I was not really a fan of her's. She is so different than me I just could not see myself getting along with her. Over all the story is sexy and I enjoyed seeing Matt court her and I can see who they make for the perfect couple for each other, it just was not my personal fave couple.

Okay, this is the third story, out of six so far, with a threesome. I'm not overly fond of the genre. Plus, I just didn't care about either Matt or Savannah. They both saw their parents' long term commitments to one another as failures rather than the successes that their marriages were. Matt and Savannah were equally immature, especially evident near the end when they both thought "sleeping" with someone else would make them forget about each other.
