I don't consider myself a very intuitive traveler (some people just seem so at ease away from home...I am not one of them). I like all the help I can get--and I am definitely not above looking like a total tourist pulling out my guidebook. I really love Lonely Planet for this reason. The pictures, the maps, and, of course, the information are all incredibly helpful. The suggested itineraries help me plan my trips, as well as give me an idea of how much ground I can expect to cover in one, three, I don't consider myself a very intuitive traveler (some people just seem so at ease away from home...I am not one of them). The pictures, the maps, and, of course, the information are all incredibly helpful. The suggested itineraries help me plan my trips, as well as give me an idea of how much ground I can expect to cover in one, three, or five days. I also really like their "quick info" sections, e.g., Canada's top 25 highlights (including the best wines, best parks, best museums, etc.), Canada's top itineraries, and the survival sections in the back of the book. Besides the quick info sections, the book is split into six main sections: 1) Vancouver and British Columbia 2) Banff and the Canadian Rockies 3) Toronto, Niagara Falls, and Ontario 4) Montreal and Quebec 5) Nova Scotia and Maritime Canada 6) The best of the rest After paging through this guide, I have about 20 more places to add to my "To Be Visited" list. I knew Canada was beautiful, but wow. It is just gorgeous. The parks, the water, the trees. What a stunning country. And very tourist-friendly. It seems very navigable, even by families. In fact, I love the sections in the guidebook "[Whatever City] for Children" that tell you what the kids will like. Also, the food options are pretty impressive, as well--especially in Montreal. Overall, this is a colorful and informative guide that is easily accessible by even the most awkward travelers out there. (A-hem, me.) I will definitely be consulting this guide in the future.

I like the Discover series as an introduction to a place. This book had great pictures and just enough details to get me interested in learning more and exploring a possible trip. I will say that I was surprised that this book didn't mention I'le de Orleans in the Quebec region as it was recommended in other books I glanced at.

I just want to go to Canada now! :P Job well-done Lonely Planet! My favourite part has to be the 'In Focus' and 'Survival Guide' sections- a lot of great information! :D

2014 Edition has large, pull-out maps. Was voted 2014 Traveler's Choice TripAdvisor Guide Book Award. I personally am a big fan of TripAdvisor, not a big fan of this book. I could not tell if it was trying to be off the beaten path and quirky or main stream establishment. It really didn't seem to list either, maybe that is what people are looking for? It may be cliche, but how can you not recommend High Tea at The Empress in Victoria, BC? My favorite.

A beautiful, full color discover guide of Canada. This guide supplements Lonley Planet Canada and provides more photos and descriptions of the sights, culture and food of Canada. A nice way to learn about one's future vacation spot. Highly recommended.
