Anyway, I think this is one of the more comprehensive-ish volumes. Ish. I do kind of get tired of the dun dun duns with "Nakbin" or Nakbin. Like, can we be done with her already?

As pretty as ever, with more *gorgeous* colour inserts to marvel at. However, the story remains both simplistic and impenetrable at the same time, and continues to move forward at a glacial pace. I think these books would definitely benefit from having some kind of "dramatis personae" (both in terms of the characters' doings in the story and their place in Korean mythology) included!

I just appreciate the help Habaek receives from his friends even against the Emperor, and how they support him about Soah (excluding Mura. lol). I am really excited what will happen next!

The flashback at the beginning helped me understand what was going on a little better, so that was good (not that it wasn't still a bit confusing). There sure are a lot or characters in this series, though, and a lot of them look similar, so I sometimes have a hard time figuring out who is who. I still don't fully understand the reasons behind everything going on, and I wish they would stop repeating the whole "is this really Nakbin or not" bit. ALL the secrets come out in this volume! We learn why the Emperor has it out for Mui, we learn why Soah's pretending she doesn't remember Mui, we learn who Yeo-wa is, and if Nakbin is really alive. We also get to learn about Mui's parents, as well as why there's a schism among the Gods. We even learn Mui's real name, which can possibly lead to trouble if the Emperor learns it. Such an exciting volume!

Shin nong’s the sun god and is told he and the child can’t coexist in the same world so wang mu has no choice but to side with hunwon to save her child while dong wang remains with shin nong. This was good. Confusing, but good. This is the kind of conspiracy I wanted in the previous chapters. This is the kind of aggression I craved. so much potential. But then we had the mystery of habaek’s third name. I can’t figure out if it’s a cloying ploy to farther the romance or a legit conspiracy. Turns out Soah’s weak spine is succumbing to the emperor now, but in the guise of revenge. Dangerous day to grow a backbone soah darling; its one thing to stand up for yourself, but completely another to help a bigwig nasty win. Added bonus: you might just kill the love of your life. On a side note: no wonder mui’s messed up. His parents dressed him as a girl when he was little

This time we get the history of Habaek’s parents (from opposing elemental controls), his childhood (including cross dressing to hide him) and part of what is going on with the emperor, namely a civil war with his brother. Soah still believes Mui/Habaek has thrown her over for the resurrected Nakbin and doesn’t know he’s faking not knowing her. However, she is suspicious when the Emperor sends her to get Habaek’s true name which would give the Emperor complete dominion over him and even more so when Habaek doesn’t hesitate to give it to her. Suspecting something is afoot, she doesn’t tell the Emperor she has succeeded and then the rebel forces show up and she’s removed from the Emperor’s palace by friends of Habaek and the Emperor’s brother and taken to the castle on the moon. Habaek, however, doesn’t go with her.
