Her first book, "The Infertility Survival Handbook", was my favorite of all of the books I read while my husband and I were pursuing fertility options. I am now reading her adoption guide, and am finding it equally informative and well written. Ok, good information but not well written. The author attempts to take a conversational style, but it's a conversation that goes in circles. Ok, good information but not well written. The author attempts to take a conversational style, but it's a conversation that goes in circles.

A great beginner's guide in the road of adoption. Fast pace and easy to digest. As an adoptive parent and an attorney specialized in Reproductive and Adoption Law, Falker has a surprisely down-to-earth demeanor in writing this guide. From this book, I have learned about the fundamental adoption process and the difference between domestic and international adoption. Moreover, I have learned about some legal issues and the more advanced legal adoption dilemma, such as the Indian Child Welfare Act A great beginner's guide in the road of adoption. Prospects are highly advised to hire an attorney specialized with ICWA law if the child is with Native American heritage.~ Great book. Highly recommended.

This is a very informative read, but extremely slanted toward the experience of adopting a newborn (because that is the author's experience). Although some of the information and advice can be used, this is not the best resource for adopting children over 1 or foster-adopting.
