I received this as part of First Reads giveaway. I had a store up on etsy before but nothing really came of it and I didn't put too much emphasis on it. I wasn't sure what areas to focus on. However, this book has some great information and examples to help with setting up a store. Hopefully it will help me in the future. I received this as part of First Reads giveaway. Etsy has become the world's marketplace for handmade and vintage items. It was started by Rob Kalin, an artist and carpenter, in 2005. Mr. Kalin was looking for a place to sell his work online. He found that eBay was not a good fit for crafters and artisans because they seem to favor big sellers of mass-produced items. Mr. Weber has written a very comprehensive book about how to navigate the Etsy marketplace. The book begins by explaining how to open an account and how to make purchases. Mr. Weber has written a very comprehensive book about how to navigate the Etsy marketplace. The book begins by explaining how to open an account and how to make purchases. The real value of this book is the precise information that is given on how to open and operate an Etsy shop. Mr. Weber explains what kind of items can be sold in an Etsy shop, how to design the shop, how to list items and how to manage sales and shipping. He also goes into detailed information about how to market your shop with social media, SEO and paid advertising. Mr. Weber explains the importance of interacting with the Etsy Community. He describes the Etsy forums, Circles and Teams. He features 14 successful Etsy sellers in this book and shares information about how they got started and how they operate and manage their businesses. The author provides some basic information about copyright, licensing and taxes. The last chapter in the book is "Mind Your Manners and Dos & Don'ts". This section offers advice that will be a great help for buyers and sellers who are new to the site. I read this book because I am in the process of setting up an Etsy Shop. I have sold on eBay for many years but I agree that Etsy is the best place for "crafty" people. I was very impressed with the amount of information that this book offers. It is a very useful primer for selling handmade art and crafts online. I can't think of a single relevant topic that is not covered in this book. I found the information on PayPal online payments very helpful. I have used PayPal for almost as long as I have sold on eBay but I still learned some new information on receiving online payments in this book. Kudos to Steve Weber for the research that he did for this book. This is a must-read resource for anyone who is interested in buying or selling items on Etsy.

This is a book I received for free through Goodreads First Reads. A while back, I set up a shop on Etsy. I haven't done anything with it. I had questions and I could not find the answers I needed through Etsy's multitude of tutorials, videos, live streaming, blogs, messages on the wind, smoke signals, telepathy...you get the picture. I'm sure some folks find all their information helpful but I just found it frustrating when I just needed a simple answer. Thank the gods for this book. I'm sure some folks find all their information helpful but I just found it frustrating when I just needed a simple answer. Thank the gods for this book. I started reading it straight through but soon found myself skipping around and immediately finding the answers I needed. I also found myself stopping and reading some little tidbit I hadn't realized I needed to know, as well as the interviews with successful shop owners before going back to the page I had left off from before roaming. The writing is clear, concise and well organized. It covers everything, from the first encounter with Etsy to setting up a shop to the legal matters that need to be addressed with a business, online or not. Now that all my answers have been answered, I need to create some inventory.

I will be honest with this book. I received it in one of the goodreads giveaways and read it only because of that reason. I am a currently a seller on etsy so having already been around the website and into selling I didn't feel like i learned anything knew or insightful from this book. However, it was very well descriptive of what to do and how to do it. It gave lots of step by step examples for those who couldn't just navigate the website and try and develop their own store themselves. It also I will be honest with this book. It also dived deeper into the world of etsy and explained things like circle, favorites, promoting and such. If you are an artistic person with so,me skill or product that you could make LOTS of money off of etsy with, then the book is worth it. But if you dabble in crafts and are fine with occasional sells, then no need to read the book.

This is a very good how-to manual. It is clearly written and everything is laid out in an easy-to-understand fashion. Definitely a must-have if you are thinking about starting a seller's account on Etsy. The only major note that I have about the contents is that they can probably be found in the FAQ section of Etsy, but this book would probably be much easier to read. I have an ARC and noticed a couple of places where there were blank pages. I don't know if that happens in the final version of the book, but if it does, it should probably be fixed. Also, I understand the purpose of having the real-life examples of Etsy stores in there, but I kinda saw it as just free publicity. Just a personal preference though.

I received this book through Goodreads Giveaways. I have not sold anything on Etsy but have made several purchases. This book is very detailed and descriptive and appropriate mostly for anyone that wants to be very serious and dedicated to selling their products on Etsy. It is well-organized and includes snapshots of different pages on the website to accompany explanations. It is very helpful for learning how to create and edit listings and set-up a seller profile. **A First Reads Review/ Advanced Readers Copy** I received this book as a Giveaway by the Author, here on Goodreads. Steve Weber gives many insightful tips from how make your Etsy shop memorable and, as a result, profitable. Tips include the visual aspects of the shop itself, self-marketing, coupon-code tracking, cost-to-profit calculating tips, collaborating with other sellers, advertising via social networking, avoiding scams, and more.

I just opened an Etsy shop so this was a good introduction and overview of Etsy. It answered some of my questions on business related stuff and gave some good resources for more information.

2.5 stars. Read on Kindle. Some good info, but not much that I couldn't find/figure out by playing on the Etsy site. Some serious format issues in the Kindle format. 2.5 stars. Read on Kindle. The book had some good information for someone who is just starting out, but I didn't really learn anything new from it. The book had some good information for someone who is just starting out, but I didn't really learn anything new from it.
