Been to more than 40 of the places in the book. Makes me want to travel even more than ever.

Really beautiful book to page through and dream. I've added several places to my go-to list, including a subterranean river in the Philippines!

I don't know what it was but this book just did not grab me. Something about the content or layout just didn't make it enjoyable. I didn't agree with the selection of particular travel places. I also felt like a lot of places could have had better pictures to represent its "extraordinary-ness". Also I think it mentioned cities in the US more then it needed to. However It is a very pretty book and great for a coffee table. Maybe I will pick up this book another time and enjoy it more.

I love these collections, and this is no exception. nat geo put together seemingly obvious categories: "Wild Places" and "Urban Spaces" and picked the 35 or so best from each category. Then they added a number of Top 10s which get less photo/page play and added=400 places. Great for the armchair traveler or those who have specific plans and are looking for a must-do activity.

Many essays on seeing common travel destinations in a different way, or interpreting some very original locales in a special way. Each locale has a an insider tip about visiting, called "In the Know." Outstanding large-scale photos make you feel you are almost there--but not quite!

In the words of Tina Fey's character Liz Lemon: "I want to go to there." This book is great armchair reading. My 3-year-old son and I cuddled up and looked through it together. He kept saying we could go to all the places together. =)

A brief snap shot of each place. Sometimes, just a double-page photo & a poem. Not really what I was expecting or looking for. This is a huge book. It could have been so much more. This is the kind of book you don't really read, but keep on the coffee table. Beautiful pictures, not much useful information.
