I find this book genuinely useful since it touches upon the main aspects public relations people stumble on in their daily writing tasks. Every chapter is well-written and has clear and illustrative examples. Besides, I like that the author referred to further information sources such as dictionaries, reference books and guides, and writing software that many PR professionals, journalists and editors use. Thanks to this book I discovered StyleWriter, an editor software, that helps to proofread a I find this book genuinely useful since it touches upon the main aspects public relations people stumble on in their daily writing tasks. Besides, I like that the author referred to further information sources such as dictionaries, reference books and guides, and writing software that many PR professionals, journalists and editors use. Thanks to this book I discovered StyleWriter, an editor software, that helps to proofread and edit different types of texts. I have the fifth edition reprinted in 2013 but I think that some chapters need an update. For example, in Chapter 23 “Keep to the Codes” the author writes about the Press Complaints Commission (PPC) but it was closed in 2014 and has been replaced by the Independent Press Standards Organisation. I would also add a chapter on writing for social media to have all the writing tips in one place. In short, I recommend this book for people working in public relations, internal/external communications or those interesting in writing in general.
