Robin, Maxine, and Sarah are introduced in Sapphire Ice as three young women working hard to overcome a background of fear, deprivation, and neglect, raised by a drug addicted mother. Robin's sense of responsibility pushes her to work two jobs, both in the food industry, to put her sisters through college. Maxine has graduated and is a very successful advertising executive but Robin refuses her help paying for Sarah's nursing degree. Maxine has graduated and is a very successful advertising executive but Robin refuses her help paying for Sarah's nursing degree. These women, while coping with the fallout of their pasts, have landed on their feet with some real hang-ups about any long term relationship with a man. Robin does not entertain any relationship but comes face to face with a man just as determined to win her heart in Sapphire Ice. Tony, a born again believer with a street gang background appears to be the one person who might change her mind about the opposite sex. Emerald Fire opens with Maxine and Barry on a collision course to a lasting relationship. Barry, best friend to Tony Viscolli and his corporate lawyer, discovers his estranged wife is pregnant with another man's child. His faith in a faithful God is tested when she dies in a skiing accident after Barry prayed for God to mend his marriage. Maxine comes to the rescue but before their relationship blossoms, Maxine is involved in a life threatening accident. Barry comes to her rescue while sister's Robin and Sarah look on. In Topaz Heat, Sarah takes center stage as OB/GYN nurse in the large Boston Hospital. Her nemesis, Derrick, uses every opportunity to gain her attention after returning to Boston to run one of Tony Viscolli's hotels. Sarah has no memory of her early childhood. She was the only sister who was adopted out of her circumstances as a child and raised by loving Christian parents. Sarah cannot relate to Derrick's street wise background.

This was my favorite book in the Jewel Trilogy. First meeting Sarah as a young girl in Sapphire Ice, she grows up separated from her sisters due to their circumstances. Topaz Heat is the last of the Jewel series and I have to say that I am sorry to have the series come to an end. I got to reading this book one evening and really should have gone to sleep, but I HAD to stay awake and finish the book. I ended up staying up for 2 hours longer than I should have to finish this great book.

I have loved every single one of these books. These books are so well written that the story is hard to put down, but behind that is the best part of the book which is the true understanding of God's love that comes through and tugs at your heart to really analyze your own beliefs. I love books that have sequels as I love seeing how characters go on with their lives. While you could easy read any of her books without reading them all they are worth starting at the beginning to read! While they are all related each book focuses and develops a different person/relationship! Another great, quick, fascinating read!

He only understood committing crimes and sleeping near dumpsters as a means to survive. Then Tony Viscolli crosses paths with Derrick and gives him an offer that seems way too good to be true. Derrick is fearful of what he has to give in return, but the rules are simple. No more drugs or booze, a roof over his head, going to church with Tony, a job and a real education. Derrick never intends to fulfill his end of the bargain, but he falls in love with Tony’s family and he gives his life to Christ in the process. His life is forever changed and he is blessed with a real family, a real future. Sarah has no recollection of her childhood before she was adopted at the age of nine. Her sisters are both happily married and have been reunited to Sarah’s life. Sarah has a great job, her roommate is her best friend, and she attends a church she considers home. However, whenever she’s around Derrick her defenses come up and she refuses to trust him. He’s arrogant, untrustworthy, and he has a shameful past. Will she ever see his true character or will she continue closing her heart off to his kindnesses? This book was slightly slow in taking off and I took a chance with it considering it’s not the first book in the series, but once I got to the heart of the story I was very satisfied at the chance to review it! I considered this book the Christian version of The Godfather because of the Italian family and Tony’s influence with everyone. This man owns the most impeccable hotel in town, but there is no doubt that Christ is the center of his life and profession. There are three things that were an absolute delight for me in this story: The transformation of Sarah and Derrick’s relationship; they start off as constantly arguing, become friends and through prayer and intervening circumstances slowly evolve into something so much more precious. Sarah’s sisters and Tony’s brothers; I absolutely LOOOOVED how this family sticks together through grief, tribulations, danger, and heartbreak. They laugh together, pray together, raise their kids together, work together, and stand by one another through everything. There is only one scene with kids in it, the rest of the plot they are only mentioned or referred to. The love of God is felt in this story without preaching. There is violence in the story, one murder, and mentions of Derrick’s crime filled past, but the overall message is forgiveness and family support. It’s amazing how a life can be changed so radically after one decides to trust God regardless of where that person comes from. I also loved two other scenes in the story: one where Sarah attacks someone in self defense thinking them to be an intruder and one scene where she gets to tell someone who betrayed her to stay away. Even though this book is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. The healing and romance found in this story make the book into the treasure it’s titled after. I want to thank the author for sending me a review copy. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

He was taken in by Tony Viscolli (Robin’s husband) when he was an 18 year-old boy living the wrong life and Tony recognized himself in him and wanted to give him a second chance at a good life. Derrick willing accepted Tony’s help and now he’s helping Tony run his famous hotels. His only problem is that Sarah can’t stand him. From the first moment they met it was like oil and vinegar. Oil and vinegar doesn’t mix until it’s shaken and that’s what happens in this book. Their lives are shaken to the point of breaking and so many things happen to each one of them that help them come to terms with their past and their present and future. I don’t like to tell much of the story, I personally just like to know a little bit about the book and that it’s good and then let me read it and be surprised by every twist and turn. So you won’t get anymore information from me. Just that this is an excellent book and I can’t wait to go back and read the first of the series to see the stories of Tony and Robin develop. I have read Emerald Fire and now this book, Topaz Heat, and I’ve got to say that Topaz Heat had me in tears several times! I can’t wait to go back and read Sapphire Ice-Book 1 and Greater Than Rubies-Book 1.5. “I received a complimentary copy of this book from The Book Club Network for my honest opinion and did not receive any compensation for a favorable review. Sarah Thomas first meets Derrick DiNunzio when her sister’s fiancé brought him into his home to escape a life of crime and get a fresh start. She disliked him for first sight. Derrick was raised on the South side of Boston, he was a hooligan destined for trouble when he was given the chance to become something more. He has worked hard to turn his life around and has climbed to the top. Derrick has found a deep faith and love. He was with Sarah when she regained her memory and while praying with her he accidentally reveals he loves her and always has. Just as they make peace and finally have a chance at true love and happiness Derrick’s world comes crashing down when he is accused of a terrible crime. His dedication and faith in this trial is an inspiration, but can Sarah’s faith help her overcome her fear of turning out like her deceased mother. This is a superb book that brings faith to the forefront. The author Hallee Bridgeman has a true gift; she showed what true romance truly is in a wholesome clean way that was both believable and inspirational. I can not wait to read her next book A Melody for James. I highly recommend this book.

Her sisters have reunited with her, but being older, they didn’t get the luxury of forgetting the horrible start in life they all received. If Robin’s memories are presented to her, will her faith stay firm? How will that affect her life? Derrick DiNunzio, brother-in-law, also had a horrible past. He doesn’t hide it, but neither does he flaunt it by any means. Yet, Robin met Derrick before his transformation from street rat to respectable business man. That memory stays at the forefront of her mind and Derrick wonders if she will ever be able to move past that. In the mean time, his past threatens to ruin him, and his family. I hope I haven’t revealed to much of this novel, because it is an amazing story of overcoming the pain others have inflicted upon you, and how you decide your future, not your past. How God loves you. YOU, not what you have or have not accomplished, or what social class you are. I highly recommend this book, and the others in the series. Especially if you love Inspirational Romance novels. And not just for the great story, but the reminder of all that God really is. I’m sorry to see the series end! Topaz Heat is the final book in the Jewel series. I’d been anticipating Sarah and Derrick’s book since reading Greater Than Rubies and was not disappointed! I loved seeing the family from their points of view and finally understanding what caused the constant disagreements between them. Like each of Hallee Bridgeman’s books, Topaz Heat has a very strong Christian aspect. The main focus is on the truth that we are all made new in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17) and that our past is put behind us when we become Christians. It also reminds us to trust God no matter what life may throw our way. The only negative thing I can think to say about Topaz Heat is that chapter 23 (the final chapter) seemed a little abrupt to me. But, the only things I can think of that she could have added to ease the ending would have just seemed tedious, so I guess I wouldn’t change it after all. :) As much as I enjoyed the book, I was very disappointed to reach the end of the series. I’d fallen in love with all of the characters and hated to see it end. Topaz Heat is the perfect conclusion to the Jewel Trilogy family of books. It begins a few years down the road from the last novel, Emerald Fire, and brings together the third sister, Sarah, and the man we all know should be her one true love, Derrick. Throughout the previous books, Sarah was not a favorite character of mine. She seemed pretty judgmental towards those with rough upbringings, such as Derrick DiNunzio. Derrick has been in love with Sarah from the moment he laid eyes on her. Tony had just rescued him from his previous life of crime when he and Sarah met. Over the next few years, Derrick worked to change himself both inside and out. He accepted Christ and became successful. Ten years from their first meeting, will Sarah ever be able to see Derrick for the man he has become, or will his past continue to haunt him? I was really pleased to watch the ever evolving relationship of these two characters as they grow toward each other. This story has great twists and turns and plenty of danger and intrigue to keep you guessing right up till the end.

I received this book from bookfun.org in return for my honest opinion. It is a marvelous book with engaging characters. I think the two most endearing qualities about this series are its harsh realities, Sarah and her sisters survived the darker side of the foster system, and the fact that each novel stands on it own. This time around I met Sarah the final sister but unlike the other two she does not recall any of the dreadful things that happened to them as children, thankfully she was saved in time. However she does have one flaw and that is that she cannot look past the terrible past of the man she has fallen for. The character of of Derrick was simply stunning. The ex bad boy that traded and changed his life for good. I simply fell right in love with this young man, for too many times in life I have seen people not being able to escape their past, instead everyone around them judges them on their past. Does not see that a person can change their lives for the better. The author very brilliantly shows that it can be done and that what follows is more powerful and worth while. The book once again reminded me that God is the one that if you believe he will have you achieve. The manner in which the author showed me how Sarah overcomes her own set of demons of another kind was pure magic. The trilogy could not have been ended better, and that beautiful message as from the first two books was kept by the author. I am looking forward to anything else the author has to offer she is one of those that will forever more be on my auto to buy list.

This was not the story I was looking for. The main character Sarah was completely FAKE. But I refused to be beaten by a book....thus 2 stars. Just a couple of other things that I shook my head at, the first being the lawyer Barry trying to convince a vegan to consume animal products. Vegans are vegan for a reason. I find it hard to believe that she would begin eating non vegan foods just because she remembered the reason she didn't like meat. If anything, it should have strengthened the resolve to be a vegan. The other thing was at the end of the book during Derrick's "life saving surgery" when the anesthesiologist tries to get the surgeon's attention by saying "doctor". Really? An anesthesiologist IS a doctor. The author made it seem like they didn't have the same credentials behind their name. Lastly, the last chapter of the book was nauseating...I puked 3 times before I finally made it through...and OMG the epilogue...

Both Sarah and Derrick have overcome such traumatic early lives, and faith has brought them forward and made them the strong, faithful individuals they are......but their path to love is bumpy and filled with trials. It struck me that there are many of us whose lives are filled with trials, and faith makes all the difference in whether we approach it with grace, or if we struggle and rail and rant. Derrick portrays such grace, both in the steadfast love he nursed for Sarah for ten years before she really saw him and appreciated him, and when his past catches up and threatens to swallow him. Robin’s story was about her exhausting struggles to make ends meet before she met Tony. Maxine’s story was about Barry’s troubled marriage and their friendship and then the accident just as they begin to get close. So those books, while beautiful stories, dwelled only briefly on the love story. Sarah’s story on the other hand shows us many glimpses as their love unfolds, despite external drama.

Such a good read. I am so happy to have read this series, finishing with this story of Sarah and Derek. This one did not go as I had expected at all, but I enjoyed the twists and turns, the thrill of the bits of suspense, the preciousness of the growing and newfound love, the continuation of each of the sisters' stories. Yes, truly a delightful series and finale. I highly recommend! I look forward to reading more by Hallee Bridgeman! Such a good read. Blessed This book was the best of all, because it incorporated the lives and loves of these three women and to all they touched. Thank you, Hallee Bridgeman, for seeing how these would fit together.
