Again with Tommy! this time she's at the right place at the right time! While in town, she hears someone plotting to poison Sir Walter so that the blame would fall on his guest and this will lead to a war. Well I enjoyed this more than the first one - but then I adjusted my expectations for a picture book. Plus the plot was a little more involved. Great series for young children (Kinder to Prep aged) with pretty pictures and simple plots. 3 stars from me. 4 stars for the target audience.

This short title is full of adventure and intriguing characters. Swords that have taken on the personalities of their previous owners advise Tommy, as does the moat’s crocodile and the castle cat. Tommy herself was once a scullery maid, but now is Keeper of the Blades and dreams of someday being a knight. A fun read and a good title for readers that have transitioned to chapter books.

This is the second book in the series. I read this aloud to my 4 year old daughter and 6 year old son as a bedtime story over two nights. My son corrects me if I accidently say crocodile "He's a crocodiddle Mum". My son also loved to check with me "does droppings mean poo?" - yes it does. Another great fantasy adventure with a strong female character. This is the second book in the series.
