Good collection of women to write about. To name a few: Mary Colter, The Harvey Girls, Mable Dodge Luhan, Maris Martinez and Georgia O'Keefee. You can see the research there but was lacking in accuracy. I found a few things like places to not be correct. It is also a snippet into each of their lives with leaves you wanting more and some of the short stories are a dry read. Still found it interesting to read and did learn a few new things about these New Mexico woman. Good collection of women to write about. I picked this up in ABQ and it's fine as a brief snapshot of New Mexico women's history. But it's 14 biographies in about 140 pages, so there's not a lot of depth, and in some of the bios there was more time spent on historical context than on describing the woman's life. So it's interesting, but only superficially. I picked this up in ABQ and it's fine as a brief snapshot of New Mexico women's history. Not bad. Good choices of subjects, although could have had more ladies with firmer ties to NM, and some ranch women. Needed better editing and checking. The Navajo nation is in NW NM, not SW. Canyon de Chelly is in AZ, not NM. Could have been a much better book, but I am glad I read it.
