While I understand why they didn't, I was hoping they would've gone darker with the Wolverine story. I don't understand how Wolvey's actions made him so loyal to Magneto that he would do what he asked. In Earth-616, Xavier has earned Wolvey's respect but he still doesn't listen to everything the professor says. Moving onto the Fantastic Four story, I found it fascinating that because Ben Grimm did not accept his new self and turned away from his friends, so many lives and destines were changed! Not sure if they ever did but I would personally be interest to see how this world turned out with so many people not becoming the heroes they were meant to be.

One of my favorites of the original What If? series In the Marvel mainstream, Wolverine's job was to capture the Hulk or drive him out of Canada. In this alternate reality, he went off script and found a way to kill the green giant instead. Wolverine's exploit brought him to Magneto's attention, who recruited him in his latest plot to destroy his foes the X-Men. It was interesting to see Wolverine interacting with the X-Men years earlier than he did in the Marvel mainstream, and the stunning resul One of my favorites of the original What If? series In the Marvel mainstream, Wolverine's job was to capture the Hulk or drive him out of Canada. It was interesting to see Wolverine interacting with the X-Men years earlier than he did in the Marvel mainstream, and the stunning results of that interaction. The second story was also compelling- what if the Thing went on a rampage? It was a simple twist of fate- instead of agreeing to join Reed, Sue and Johnny to become the Fantastic Four, Ben gave in to his rage over losing his humanity and turned his back on his family instead of letting them help him adjust to his transformation. The unexpectedly reduced group (the Terrific Three?) put their crimefighting career on hold to find and subdue Ben, who had gone on a cross-country rampage. It was interesting to see how Ben's rage affected the lives of Spiderman, Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and by extension, the Avengers as a whole. Two great stories featuring two beloved characters- what else could you want?
