When I heard Lori Foster was doing a novella for Chris I got excited. I loved this secondary character in her Men Who Walk on the Edge of Honor Series. I loved that series, Dare and the guys were hot, sexy, badass alpha men who got the job done and there was always plenty of steamy action to boot! YAY!! So even though i knew this was a short story and Chris was not a badass alpha guy, he was an important part of the team and I expected his own brand of excitement. Chris is the one who keeps everything working, he is Dare and the team's right hand guy. Chris is also gay, which i loved when I started reading the series. Chris likes Matt, Matt likes Chris. Now Chris can't tell Matt what he really does for Dare and the boys because of the nature of their work. This story was so disappointing to me. There was no real story, no chemistry that I could feel between Chris and Matt and no sex! (none, nada, zip, zilch). Now I am taking into account how short this was, but still? Considering the amount of action and steam in the rest of the series I have to assume the reason for this being so G-rated and boring is because Chris is gay? I hate to make that assumption, but considering I know the author can write exciting, bad guy versus good action and plenty of steamy sex scenes between the hot heroes and their sexy heroines in her books it's the only conclusion I can come to.... too bad..... I give this one star for my love of this series only. And because i enjoyed spending a few minutes with Dare, Trace and the girls.

Let me preface this by saying that I read M/F as well as M/M and I've read & loved many Lori Foster books. This ain't one of them. This was excruciatingly bad. The descriptions of the mercenaries leap off the page with all the vibrancy and sexy wootness that is singularly lacking in any and all descriptions of the m/m heroes. Worse, the m/m heroes don't even resolve their own conflict -- instead, the m/f heroes save the day! Rather than talking to Chris and telling him it's okay, you can share the Big Bad Seekrit with Matt, the mercenaries ride to the rescue and spill to Matt themselves, which effectively neutered and emasculated Chris AFAIC. To say I am bitterly disappointed would be a vast understatement. I am familiar with this author. I KNOW she can deliver a damn good story. This time, she didn't. While I applaud her for raising and rallying behind the M/M banner (if that was her intention), I simply cannot recommend this story. It's hideous.

Oh boy was this a disappointing read. It can't really be classified as an MM story because even though it is about 2 men, NOTHING happens. We get the aftermath and it is a story that has a lot of fill in the blanks of what happened between the two guys. Fans demanded the story - all well and good if the author is familiar with the genre and genuinely wants to write a kick ass story, and this could have been one but it just wasn't. I didn't want this story. Not that I didn't want Chris to have a HEA, but I didn't think that Lori Foster, who frustrated me so with A Perfect Storm could manage to do her first m/m story well. I was happier when I made up my own ending. I don't read a lot of m/m romance, maybe 1% or less and of what I read I have one author that I re-read. What I do read is basically romance but with a gay male couple. And while I don't expect every romance I read to have sex I expect consistency in my series' a I didn't want this story. This barely eluded to Chris and Matt being together sexually. And the scene with Trace and Dare felt like an excuse for Foster to revisit Trace and Dare so she could tell us again how badass and super hot and sexy they are. What would have been better would be if they'd let Chris tell Matt himself and the two had had an emotional moment where Chris comes clean before they start their lives together. This wasn't satisfying as an m/m entry to this series and failed on a few levels to tell Chris and Matt's story. Avoid this and make up your own ending, you'll be happier.

I'm going to read this series simply to get to this book. Please be worth it. I'm already a little sad it's so short. There were more emotions in this one than the entire first book. That says a lot since this is like 400 pages shorter. I think this can be read as a standalone, however you do miss a lot of back story with Chris and Matt. (I assume anyway, I don't think Matt shows up until book two)

I was happy to see Chris get his HEA even though it had never been Lori Foster's intentions to give Chris his own book. He has been a fantastic support character throughout the series and I loved his snarky, sarcastic attitude. I was disappointed that it was so short and I felt like there should have been more detail about their physical interaction. Meh. Possibly works better if you follow the series. I get the strong impression the book was written to meet demand, that Foster was out of her comfort zone and didn't really want to write this. It's the only explanation for why the m-f heroes are fawned over but the m-m main characters have so little impact. I'm not sure whether to commend her for trying or wish she hadn't. There seems to be a long introduction to say who everyone is when there's not room for that in such a short novella. 'The Meh. Possibly works better if you follow the series. There seems to be a long introduction to say who everyone is when there's not room for that in such a short novella. 'The wives' are strong and amazing (and probably have a highly complicated secret handshake) the men are all hot alpha badarses. Oh, and then there's Chris and Matt. Chris is apparently indispensible and everyone is outraged that Matt would think him an errand boy. All I see Chris doing is playing with the dogs, jumping in the lake (repeatedly) and asking Matt why he's there. Nothing here shows him as capable, or as adult, or as caring for Matt. Zero chemistry. Why does he have to go leave the dogs out when there's at least one of the wives on the premises? It made me think it was an excuse to get rid of Matt. Matt; there's a line about him having worked hard to get to where he is and now wanting 'the one' aka Chris. It just felt like he was selecting his favourite Ken doll, no reason why Chris was worth the constant rebuffs. No spark of attraction, no fondness, no humour, nothing. I'm not even sure if the two men were in a relationship or not, Matt was invited to sleep over twice and had slept over before. Is that a relationship or just somewhere to drop an overnight bag? Their conflict is played out entirely in front of the other characters which reduces them from adults with real concerns to pre-teens acting out their first crush to their parents amusement. The manly-men had to intervene which annoyed me, I don't see what right they had to interfere if Chris cared about Matt it was his place to tell him everything. Also it meant the resolve was more about the others than Chris. Chris works for badarse heroes, it's what makes him desirable. The others like Matt and therefore Chris gets to be with him. Chris never broaches telling Matt with his employer and friend, wont consider any other options, never contacts Matt or meets him without the others manipulation. Hopefully there's a spark or tension evident in the series, I think there must be for people to want this book written. The novella is all talk no action and yet the characters never really talk. I didn't connect or care about anyone and I tried this with an eye to reading the rest of the series so now I'll not be bothering. It did however beat watching the kettle boil, even if reading it took less time than drinking the consequent cuppa!

After following this series from the beginning, we have read about Chris Chapey and everything he does to keep those Alpha men going. He is by no means an 'errand boy', but the heart and soul of the organization. With What Chris Wants, we finally get to see him find his HEA in Matt Houser. Matt has been in previous books and was the perfect fit for Chris. I was a little apprehensive in wondering how the author was going to make a M/M story unfold since I don't remember reading anything by her in this specific sub-like-genre. Well she pulled it off with easy grace! I loved how she approached it and executed it. It wasn't over the top and it wasn't too detailed. Every once in a while, I like my romance to fade to black and this fit the bill in the bedroom area. While I wish that it would have been a full length novel, I can't say I am disappointed. The ending was a little rushed, but not enough to ruin the experience. Well done Ms. Foster. Now figure out another character in this series and bring us more!

*sigh* Honestly, why even bother? It's great that Ms. Foster wanted Chris to have a happily ever after of his own. I'm down with that - and I was really looking forward to this novella. In fact, when I heard about it, the news totally rejuvenated my interest in this series and prompted me to get going on 'A Perfect Storm' - a book I ended up really enjoying. But this, this, was a travesty. A huge fail. A missed opportunity. Crash and burn. Instead of a satisfying HEA for Chris, we get a novella that *sigh* Honestly, why even bother? Apparently all Chris wants is a "bitch" of his own who can swim and is allowed to come and go from Dare's compound as he pleases. Chris deserves so much more and the fact that he didn't get it just plain makes me sad.

First I’d like to thank Lori Foster for stretching her comfort zone and writing this story. Chris started out as a secondary character in the Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor series. But when we the readers made it clear that we wanted Chris’s story Ms. Foster stepped up to the plate and wrote this novella. Chris and Matt have been lovers but Chris can’t tell Matt what he does for Dare and the others and Matt wants more from Chris and for him. How can they have a relationship if Chris can’t or won’t be honest with him? I really enjoyed this story. I think it sweet that Chris finally gets his man and revisiting with all the characters from the series was fun too.

I didn't read any book in the series but I am curious to know what Ms Foster is able to do with a romance with two men. I used to read a lot of books by Ms Foster, since I discovered mm romance, I stopped reading any m/f. That alone shot this up from a 4 star loved it novella to a 5 star perfect novella. As for Chris HEA I enjoyed every moment of it especially since I got the whole gang from the Edge Of Honor series in it. Loved how it started off with Yummy Chris jumping into the lake and being surrounded by the gang in one of their many gatherings they love to have at Dare’s Lake House. The first part was great as it played just enough catch up on what everyone was up to and how they all became a part of Chris’s life. It was so much like reading her other novels with the loving ladies meddling in ones affair only because they know what is right and they new Chris and Matt were made for each other. Her Edge Of Honor series makes me want to be part of this family even though they are not per say all related. To my surprise I did not see a few things coming like with Dare and Trace doing something they usually do not do. Can not really say what it is. Do not want to ruin it for you all but just know I fell in love more with Dare and Trace! It made me want to reread their books like now. I was curious on how Lori Foster was going to do M/M relationship. It was not what I expected, to be honest I was really hoping she would give some M/M action. Sorry fans did not happen for Chris and Matt but it still had me smiling. Really the two kiss scenes were very quick and did wish for at least more in depth with feeling. It worked for me because the first moment Matt and Chris were together (not in a sexual way) I already fell in love with them as a couple and could not swipe my Kindle fast enough to see if Chris was going to get his head out his bottom and realize he deserves to have someone in his life just like everyone else in the Edge Of Honor Series does. Lori still was able to give her fans her typical loving, sweet, alpha male hero. Love the sexy cover with Chris wearing dogtags. Another to my surprise finding out where he got those dogtags. Sweet moment that put a smile on my face a mile long. I did wish Chris had a longer novella (ok that is me just wanting more greedy time on Chirs) but am very thankful Lori Foster took the time to write What Chris Wants for her fans and ending The Edge Of Honor series with him. Highly recommend reading this series from the beginning to get a good idea on what Chris is like and the rest of the main characters. It is a series and author not to be missed. Finally we get the story that I have been waiting for since the beginning - Chris ♥ I have loved Chris Chapey’s character since we first met him. His quick wit, compassion, willingness to give, strength and complete devotion to the Alpha males he serves, make him so much more than the errand boy that he is perceived. He is the backbone of the operation, the heart and soul of the group and without him, they would be lost. I wanted and needed for him to get his HEA and I was very happy with what Ms. Foster delivered. I loved that the guys and their wives supported and helped him achieve his dream and hearts desire - their only want was for him to be happy. I must admit, I was a little apprehensive on how the M/M aspect of the story would be handled, I know that this isn’t normally a sub-genre the author writes in. However, my apprehension was not warranted, Ms, Foster wrote it beautifully and it fit the story perfectly! Great addition to the series although, it does bring a finality to it that I hate. I adore this series so much that I don’t want to see it end. However, I am about quality over quantity and we definitely get quality with this series. Well done Ms. Foster, that finish landed you in 1st place!

This book was a total letdown to me. I love the character of Chris from the Men who walk the edge of danger series. Ms. Foster played it pretty safe as far as this m/m romance went. There is no romance, no love scene (not even a tame scene) to be found in this short tale. I found myself not believing that Chris really wanted to be with this guy (Matt). Loved that Chris finally got a HEA, but I was hoping for a bit more than just a single kiss in the book between him and Matt. I understand Foster trying not alienate her reading base by doing a m/m book since that isn't her thing, but they could have shared more than one kiss. I started out with Harlequin Romances and Presents and as I matured moved into the Silhouette Nocturne and Harlequin Temptation books. Those novels are where I discovered Lori Foster and her Men to the Rescue series. So, I was very excited to hear that Ms. Foster had jumped into the m/m world by writing her first novel featuring a romance between two male protagonists called What Chris Wants, which is a part of the Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor series. Since I had not read the first four books in this series, I was happy to see that Chris’ story was self-contained, so all you really need to know if that Chris is gay, works for a hot guy named Dare, whose sort of a mercenary, and is in a casual sexual relationship with Matt. Unfortunately, that plot doesn’t progress further in the short 44 pages of this novella. Despite fans of this series begging for Chris’ story, I did not see that Chris was really treated to his HEA. Why? Because more time is given to the previous heterosexual couples in the series and none to Matt and Chris, the main couple in this book. What Chris Wants had every bad cliche I hate in any romance novel: unlikable characters, no passion between the main couple, a Big Misunderstanding and not one, but four Mary Sue’s butting into Chris’ love life. I wanted to like this book, I really did. I loved Suzanne Brockmann’s Troubleshooters series, and Jules and Robyn were my favorite pairing in them. And even if Robin and Jules’ love scenes in Ms. Brockmann’s books didn’t get the same treatment as the straight couples in her books, at least Jules and Robin genuinely seemed to love and lust after each other. In What Chris Wants, I saw no attempt from the author to explore their relationship. We get a few brief kisses, no onscreen sex; but most importantly there is no attraction or chemistry between Chris and Matt! Nothing. Na da. Zip. I was rooting for these guys to get their happy ending, but since a lot of the book focused on the previous couples from the series and catching up with them, Chris and Matt’s love story was overlooked. Now, I don’t mind fade-to-black sex scenes, but the author has to lead up to that point with kissing, foreplay, attraction, etc., and this book had none of that. Quite frankly, I saw more chemistry between Chris and his (male) boss, Dare than I did with Matt and Chris. And this is a shame. Why? Because I know Ms. Foster can write better than this. I’ve read her books before and know she can sizzle with the best of them. If her m/f scenes can burn up my Kindle, why should her m/m book be any different? They shouldn’t. I have no idea if the author was told to turn it down by Harlequin or if she felt uncomfortable writing m/m love scenes, but either way, What Chris Wants suffers from a lack of a plot, pointless secondary characters interfering with the main couple, and no chemistry between the leads what-so-ever. Overall, a complete disappointment and the reason I could only give it two stars. Reviews by Jessewave

Chris is like an well oiled machine, well organized, loveable, loyal and I do believe if he had too he could snuff out someones lights. *smiles* Chris is a true enigma, and that is what made him stand out in all the other books along with his connection with the other characters. Even though we don’t get much background on Matt, what I did get about him had me cheering for him all the way with Chris. I have to laugh though Mrs. Foster I was looking for some payback from the other couples, you know all the ribbing Chris did to them when they were trying to hook-up. The relationship for Matt and Chris starts out in book one, as their feelings grow, in What Chris Wants Matt needs more. The big question is… is Chris willing to let Matt in to the craziness he calls his everyday life. If this is your first time discovering “Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor series” keep in mind that you need to read these in order so you can get the pecking order. Would not want you to miss out on the fun. *GRINS* Lori Foster makes her fans crave for more, in What Chris Wants she fulfills my craving for Chris and then some. Come and read to see if Chris gets what he really wants. Reviewed by Deb!

I am not a big fan of m/m stories. But there are authors out there that don't start out writing that into their stories, but they evolved there and I find myself hoping and wishing for the story with characters that I have come to love and that is what Foster did with Chris and this series. From the start I have liked Chris and with each book it grew, up to Arizona's when he came up with the perfect b-day present for her. I love how he takes care of everyone in their family, how he accepted all the women and how things changed for them all when they all entered. I felt sad that everyone but Chris found their one. The first part of this story captured that perfectly. Chris felt that to protect his family he had to sacrifice an important relationship, one that he really wanted. I loved how Molly and Priss butted in, both with Matt and with Dare and Trace, but especially with their men. Seeing the ladies put their men in their place was great! The only thing better was when the boys went to talk to Matt. I sort of felt sorry for Matt, but he handled himself well. I loved the end! It was classic for the group, important stuff happening with the others around and weighing in. The only bad thing about the end is that this series is truly at the end!

Not as good as I expected but still nice to read. Both Chris and Matt are great characters. I loved Chris in all the books and he was great in this one but it made me a little mad how he would shove Matt away a little too much and then give him a come here signal. Matt was very sweet and shy. I loved that side of him. But I felt that he was a little too forgiving. I would have enjoyed a much stronger side to him in which near the end, Chris would have to win him back. At the end, it was Matt who Not as good as I expected but still nice to read. I loved how Dare and Trace went to Matt at the end to his salon to help with the situation. Arizona's nosy side and some of the other scenes of the previous females were great.

I absolutely loved Chris in this series!!!! So I was thrilled when I found out that Lori was going to give us Chris' HEA. The only negative thing I can say about this story is that it was too short. I loved seeing all the characters again. It was like a family reunion. I really dug this series and this was an awesome way to end it!! Thanks Lori for giving this to us!! I absolutely loved Chris in this series!!!! Well that was short and sweet! I really enjoyed this series and was happy to see Ms. Foster added a novella for Chris! He was such a great supporting character throughout all the books! While this was really short and there was no steamy scenes, it was great! A little peak at the gang and Chris gets his HEA!

It's good to finally have closure on that but I wish it had been just a little bit longer. It doesn't hurt the story but I'm just wanting more of them all. ;) I'm so going to miss these characters and I'm so glad that Chris got his HEA! Full review coming soon... Never thought I'd give Lori Foster ha 2 star. Why write/publish this if your not going to go ALL out. I think Chris & Matt got ripped off. Never thought I'd give Lori Foster ha 2 star. Why write/publish this if your not going to go ALL out. I think Chris & Matt got ripped off.
