Spencer and I have been enemies for as long as I can remember. Though it wasn't hard to fall into lust with him. And things seemed to be headed to love before unspeakable things happened to me... (view spoiler)[ I AM SO ANGRY.. WHY IS THAT EVERY TIME I FALL FOR A LEAD GUY HE HAS TO DO SOMETHING STUPID.. LIKE CHEATING. I was going to say, nah it's realistic, he couldn't handle everything that is going on. BUT THAT IS A LIE. SHE FREAKING GOT RAPED. RAPED and he cheats on her. That is not okay. It's freaking unforgivable. I loved him but now I just can't stand him. And when we hear his thoughts about everyone being angry at him, it didn't make me feel sorry for him IT JUST MADE ME PISSED. This is a lead male I cannot support. (hide spoiler)] So after that whole rant.. The book was good until let's say 3/4 of the way.. then shit happens, and the character I absolutely loved decided to be a dick and ruin it all. oh and did i mention that massive twist near the end of the book.. WHAT THE HELL just happened. Seriously how random can you get !

2 Stars...not sure. It would've been a 4 star book had there not been so much drama, unbelievable drama, at that. It just ended up being far fetched and a bit ridiculous. Also, I'm positive that no matter how hot Spencer was in real life, I would never take him back. The circumstances surrounding what he did WHEN he did...ugh, just no. There's no excuse in general, but for him to do that when he did, NO! The drama with the father was so unnecessary. All of the drama was just over-kill. The book/s 2 Stars...not sure. I must confess, I thought this book was going to be a total fucking mess before I read it and I’d have to take a week to recover. I read this review online and it sounded like Spencer was going to do the unforgivable thing - cheat. Yep, I said it. There are hard fucking lines and this was one of them. I just don’t see how you can trust someone like that. There’s no excuse. It’s a done deal. Do not pass begin, do not collect $200. Take no prisoners and all that. The only exception I ever made was S I must confess, I thought this book was going to be a total fucking mess before I read it and I’d have to take a week to recover. The only exception I ever made was S.C. Stephen’s Thoughtless. That was within good reason. Spencer Grady and Harley have been sworn enemies since they were five. When Spencer comes home for the summer after his girlfriend broke up with him he finds out his mom is selling the house to live with “sugar daddy.” Harley comes home for the summer to spend time with family and friends, her dad soon tells her he’s dating Ms. Grady. Spencer and Harley must now live under the same roof. Sparks fly and worlds collide. Things turn rocky in their relationship after a few incidents and then it was like diving off a cliff. At first the book sounded promising to say the least. I mean I thought it was going to be like Checkmate by R. L. Mathewson. Alas it wasn’t even close. Firstly, from the first page I spotted the amateurish prose. There are very few people who can pull off present tense and sadly Heath is not one of them. There wasn’t much involvement from Harley’s brothers. I completely lost hope when I read what happened to Harley to be honest. There was nothing...authentic about the situation. It was like Heath just threw it in there..WTF?! Then there was that dick move, Spencer pulled when his girlfriend was recovering. Jeez, could you be anymore of a fucking asshole? After that it just when all freaking weird. With Harley miraculously recovering to her forgiving Spencer with that fucked up shit. Then there was that fucked up deed her father did. I didn’t get this fucking story what so ever. Moreover the book was too fast pace. I couldn’t really relate to the characters. This brings me back to Taking Chances. Everyone raved on that fucking book but honestly, it deserved to be hand delivered to hell. Alright so now that I’m done with my ranting. I’ll just like to say, I’m not going to read the next book in this series.

He is so devastated by the rape of the woman he loves that he drives back to LSU his old school and goes out drinking with friends and his old GF and "Fucks her brains out". He never intends to tell Harley. She finds out when she overhears him talk to Marissa, the ex, in her living room. She does leave but then She forgives him so easily. Liked it...until the hero fucked up in such a big way, I skimmed to the end. No way the heroine should have taken him back! Seriously...no fucking way!! This book pissed me off and put me in a shitty mood. Now I need to find something light-hearted and fun to read to try and get rid of the bad taste it left behind...

Much like other books I have read by Amanda Heath, 'Fire in her eyes' is not your typical YA book, the writing is almost darker and deals with some difficult issues. This book has a mix of young love, pain, heartache, true friendship, lasting love and most of all over the top DRAMA. There are some minor mistakes throughout the book, which to some I know will find distracting, but overall I was able to overlook. The book does fit ALOT in for such a short read and it almost seems rushed in parts, the timing is a tad unrealistic too, and i have never known an author to put their characters through so much. However I do enjoy this authors talent to write a good story. This one is packed to the brim with an over dramatised plot, some resemblance of hope and dare I say love? The book follows the story of Spencer, Harley and their close friends. Be prepared for a rocky Road ahead readers the twists and turns are a mind mess. I will most probably read future books by this author, 2.5 - 3 very dramatic stars from moi.

I've been stewing over this review for a day or two, trying to think how to go about it. I received the book from the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you. The book started off slow. Picked up pace about 20 pages into it and it was admittedly a fast read. (Only 140ish pages, I think) The story was entertaining but there were a lot of problems with it for me. 1) The dialogue is what I imagine to be a cross between Jersey Shore and Hillbilly Handfishin'. 2) Spencer's inexcusable disc I've been stewing over this review for a day or two, trying to think how to go about it. Kind of skeeved me out, to be honest. 3) The plot twists were so contrived it was almost laughable. In fact, I did laugh. I'm pretty certain that was NOT the effect the author was going for. But if you need something quick and easy to read on a short flight between OH and Chicago or something, it would work if you couldn't get your hands on a new copy of your favorite magazine.

So far: immature and unimaginative - from writing and text/dialogue to the characters' state of mind and behavior. I can't find any likeable feature. And I really, really had enough with the guys and their dimples. They seem to overpopulate the fictional world. Maybe the series will get better. Together they find love and just as quickly it is all taken away by a violent and tragic event. They discover who their true friends are. Secrets are revealed, lives are torn apart and relationships crumble.. “Baby girl…I’m so sorry, baby girl. I’m so fucking sorry”. I sob. I didn’t even know I was crying. She’s looking back at me with a small smile on her face. Those eyes though, it breaks my fucking heart to see the fire gone. That hurts the most. ~ Spencer Grady I felt that some of the verbage used at the beginning of the story was a bit immature for college kids. It did improve as the story moved forward. A job will done for Ms. Heath

Writing: -1 star Plot... 2 stars. Unexpected things happened but... they were also unbelievable. Or maybe it was the crappy writing that made it unbelievable. Easily the worst "romance" book I've ever read. The writing was terrible, the plot was unrealistic and the characters were unlikeable. Well this book had me interested in the beginning. But I lost my interest. I don't understand how many won't things happened. Rape, Cheating, Murder, ew. It was just so dumb. I think what kept on ticking me off was Mason. Harley thought he was hot. Then later on he's a drug lord, then a mob boss, then Harley's brother. WTF And then Hal Well this book had me interested in the beginning. But I lost my interest. Then Spencer just goes off to his ex girlfriend and screws her brain out while his current girlfriend is in the hospital for being raped THAT NIGHT by his BEST FRIEND. WTF Then there's Carter who is dating a Rockstar who drinks and always had Harley to tell her problems to since just cannot talk to her other best friends about her drunk Rockstar. Then Harley's amazing dad. He was probably my favorite character because I mean what kind of girl wouldn't want a Marine Dad who cares for them and has a shotgun to use on CHEATING BOYFRIENDS, but then he's made a psychopath who killed his wife bc she was leaving him for the love of her life and the father of her daughter, and made it seem like a suicide. WTF I think that the only people I really led in this book are Harley's brothers whose names I forgot because suddenly they just don't exist anymore. Not even to come to visit their little sister who was raped. And Polly well I don't even know about her. She's a tragic case. Sad. I guess one star for trying.

Man. I can't believe what I've just read. I am at a fault between This Beautiful Thing and Fire in Her Eyes! I have to say that I'm probably loving Spencer more. I received this book as an ARC and I'll make it as simple as possible! There was so much passion, emotion, and power in this book that moved me. Harley reminded me of myself. She was real, had FIRE and didn't take any crap. It was sad what happened to her and I could feel her pain. I know it had to be hard for her to cope with it! Spence Man. Tragedy, Love, Surprise ... this book has all three! Remember when you were in school and there was that boy who always picked on you? Your mom probably said "It just means he likes you." Harley and Spencer meet when they were five and not long after the picking and pranking started. They are neighbors but can't stand each other, or so they say. One summer when they are both home from college they surprise each other with a kiss. The surprise is they both enjoyed it. Then they found out their parents (Harley's mom died when she was younger and Spencer's dad has split long ago) are moving in together. One thing leads to another and they are in bed together (Surprise #1). Then tragedy strikes when Harley is drugged and raped by one of her "so called" friends. As Harley struggles to regain her spirit and the "Fire in Her Eyes", even more surprises come out. You'll have to read the story to find out how Harley overcomes her tragedy, falls in love and deals with all the surprises along the way. Favorite Passage: "How in the hell do you stay in such great shape? ... You just seem so lazy to me." "I'm not lazy by any means. Sports are too competitive for me. Plus, I have to keep this amazing bod so I can get laid" He waggles his eyebrows at me. I lightly shove him. "Gross."

Besides, everyone who finishes a story has my respect, since I personally suck at making it past chapter 3 everytime I try to write myself^^ I thought this might just be one of those cute stories where former enemies find their love which would have totally worked for me...I love this kind of stories and no matter how OMG where to start...this story really fucked with my head. well I'm still giving it 3 ★ because the story had so much potential and in the beginning I really like the protagonists. Besides, everyone who finishes a story has my respect, since I personally suck at making it past chapter 3 everytime I try to write myself^^ I thought this might just be one of those cute stories where former enemies find their love which would have totally worked for me...I love this kind of stories and no matter how often I've read a story like this, it seems like I never get tired of them^^ So... Harley and Spencer have been enemies their entire lifes, along came Harley's best girlfriends and Spencer's buddy Dean. We also get to know Mason and Liam. I don't know what already counts as SPOILER so...I will give a warning now, everything that comes now might be too much information for you. I don't really have a problem with spoilers, but I know how some ppl freak out. It's just me ranting about the stuff I dis-/liked. We get to know the different relationships between all those ppl and since the start it was pretty obvious who's going to end up with who. So before I even read any further I was checking out the other books in the series because I thought I might find their stories there, like Carter and her on and off rocker BF Liam...and damn! I had so much faith in those two. Carter and Harley seemed closer than with the other two girls, and Liam first came off like an ass but later I like him. When Harley told Carter that Liam was missing I thought he might have gone to rehab to show Carter how much he cared and to win her back. I was expecting this till the end, but nope...no such thing. So what?! Is he really a druggie, groupie fucking ass like Harley mentioned at the end? this would really crush me. And WTF?! how Harely's and Carter's friendship ended made no sense to me at all...ok, I get Harely's point but I would have liked more info from Carter. Why she acted like she did...even a "because I didn't care enough" would have been better than leave us hanging with nothing. The whole time I thought she had a reason for staying away...like guilt because of Dylan. We learned that Carter was a little....slut, hopping from one guy to the next till she found Liam and I thought that maybe Dylan did something similar to her too, on a party while she was drunk as fuck...and now she felt guilty for not saying sth...that would have been a reason for me...but NOT SAYING ANYTHING?! she just walked away without saying anything, without fighting for their long friendship. Means....she was a bitch from the start on and then I hate the fact, that their freindship was portrayed so close in the beginning. So I guess we won't know what happens to Carter and Liam after all... The same with Harley's brothers...in the beginning they came rushing out to greet her, nearly crushing her while hugging and all "omg sis we missed you sooooooo much" and how they were always close, the one (GOD I can't even remember their names, because after the first chapter they just kinda vanished) well the one always her protector and the other her partner in crime. Wich leads me to think they were pretty close. Then as said, they just dissapear...not even showing after what happend with Dylan. Well I'm an only child, but I would expect my older brothers to show up and at least tell me they would beat the shit out of him or sth like this. And in the end Harley states that she and her brothers weren't really close at all.... WTF?!?!?! Beside that there are some other contradictions. Like when Spencer heeds to see his friend at LSU and meets his ex-girlfriend who dumped him. first: in the beginning he was all about how annoying she was, never stopped talking etc and then he was like "oh, no matter what she's a good girl" like they were friends and not just fucking. AND: there was this one sentence in Spencer's POV regarding his trip to LSU one night after his GF got raped sth like: I know what you're all thinking (me: omg he's hooking up with the ex bitch.NOOOO) but it isn't like that! (me:thank godness!) like he wasn't that kind of guy and just wanted to forget for a while...yeah right....fucked up after all! Well for Dean and Paige...ok, I think they might get their own book, I would be interested in knowing their story. A manwhore who finds a girl who changes his ways and brings him to keep it in his pants is definitely my thing^^ Dean seemed like an interesting character though Paige was still a little undeveloped.(we didn't get much info about her) but my favorite is Mason! though he is new in the group and this silent and mystrious guy...he has been always there to count on-even from the beginning where he lends his shirt- someone to run to if shit hits the fan and I really like that! and come oooon...he's a freaking gang leader?! hell yes!!! so I can't wait for Mason's and Lucy's book to come out soon <3 well to come to an end...like I said in the beginning, the book had huge potential but was tooooo damn much drama for me. some ppl might like it that way, it's just my opinion here. but it feels like the author desperately wanted to come up with one huge hit to your head after the next, just too keep the story interesting...which kinda overdid it... first the rape which was an awesome plot twist, I did not expect till it was already too late. so thumps up for that-she really got me there. And it was nice to have the chance to see how the girl tries to live after that and how it affects ppl around her. How she copes with it would have been enough of a "filler" for me, but then the author throws Spencer's betrayal at us. Maybe she really thought the story was getting boring, but I didn't feel that way. And this betrayal was harsh...I won't say I would never take back a BF after cheating, that would be a lie. Cheating is an absolute NO NO to me but, never say never... but that he fucked his ex one day after Harley was raped is more than just a low blow. That is something I would not forgive for sure. But she did. And then she gave in too soon for my liking. OK, she totally trashed his car, but still kissed him just a few hours after she found out. the fuck?! the cheating didn't fit at all...all the "I've always wanted her and no one else", "it feels so right to finally hold her" "she's my everything" for nothing. He wouldn't have done that if he did feel that way POINT. if it had happened earlier ok, but not at this moment in the story. and then...OMG WTF?! you think the story is coming to an end...you're still trying to keep up with the story's fast pace and then the biggest "haha I fuck with your head now" evaaaaa...the dad turns out to be a little psycho/killer himself. oh come on, he was so nice the whole story, portrayed as one sweet guy who found his own second chance with Spencer's mom. this just did it...it SCREAMED: TOO MUCH! the only thing this did for me, was that *yay* I love Mason even more than I already did and feeling sorry for Spencer's mom...gosh that poor woman, give her a break please! All the shit she had to endure...I know the saying "if life hands out lemons..." but in this special case, fuck the lemonade-give me some tequila to go with the lemons instead PLEASE! OMG I did rant a lot here I see...sorry for everyone who read this, but I was just so upset after finishing...I barely write comments here...^^'

I liked the beginning with the intense love hate and the cracking of tension between Harley and Spencer. I think where I was a little disappointed was how he instantly was okay in love and that was it. I thought there should have been more resistance on Spencer's side. The big boom threw me off and made me question what I was reading. Mix that with the friends situation and Spencer, it was just a lot going on. There were parts I liked but it's not my favorite of Heath's books. ****

Twist Loved the twist honestly the only reason it didn't get a full five was because in the end they glossed over the main reason why her mom and masons dad initially had what happened to them. Other than that I enjoyed it.

FREAKIN WOW! I absolutely loved this book. I laughed and I cried alot. Sometimes really ugly crying. The characters in this story are great I fell in love with them instantly. The friendships between Harley and the girls is so beautiful. I have a few like that. The suspense and the intensity that comes out in this story is so heart wrenching and overwhelming. The chemistry between Harley and Spencer is off the w hot. I highly recommend this book to everyone.

Not my favorite by Amanda Heath, but still good. I loved how it started out, but then it took a few turns I found a bit unworkable for myself.
