I read one of the author’s other novels titled, Indebted, and was just excited to have discovered a great story and author. The threads of tension start in a classroom that is set up for demonstrations of how to take care of patients coming into the emergency room. However, as the student doctor begins to examine this “playacting patient” with her professor watching her every move, it quickly unravels from play to a real life scenario. As the professor is shouting directions and questions and known by his students to be a real hard man, it is the student who quickly has to get his attention away from teaching to assisting. However, the professor makes a fatal mistake and from there on both the student and the professor’s lives along with the school’s reputation become enmeshed in what becomes a murder investigation. The action and plot thicken, going from the classroom to a pharmaceutical company’s discovery and then going even deeper into the sinister intent of a group of people known by a particular tattoo that federal agencies are trying to identify. One man from the pharmaceutical company knows that tattoo, what it represents and what the dark purpose of this group really is about. The group has been around for generations without garnering the attention of government agencies, but that might all be coming to an end soon. Along with this, there is a well known talk show person, who has disappeared, and a senator who is unaware of something evil looming. To top it off, there are chemicals being manufactured for sinister intent, but who are the intended victims? Will the various agencies, many various expert doctors and an Irish detective be able to save the population from mass biochemical attack? When you read this novel and the plot thickens, so will the intensity heighten. The suspense you will feel goes off the charts and perhaps like me you might try to read faster to find out how it all ends. One characteristic about the storyline is the plethora of twists and turns that literally don’t stop till the end of the book. There is spiritual activity that happens and God speaking to a most unlikely antagonist, but for what reason? I loved reading The Militant Genome! It really grabbed my attention from the get-go and the anticipation of action and adventure was a thrill! Don’t miss out! My rating is 4 stars. Note: There is some use of foul language in the novel, but for me it didn’t distract or minimize the story content. The opinions shared in this review are solely my responsibility. Honestly, I heard the term “genome” only during my Biology days(which were nth years ago) so I had to search it. Genome means the haploid set of chromosomes in a gamete or microorganism, or in each cell of a multicellular organism. (Wikipedia) The attack of the book was 100% fresh for me since medicinal terms can be found which is very good. Welcome to the world of medicine; murderers; psychopaths; and racist. My thoughts: At some point, I got lost because new characters were being introduced, but I easily got back on track and I can’t even believe that I’m already done. The Militant Genome manifested equal opportunities for various race, especially for black and white. Black senator; reporter; celebrity; doctor; etc. Wow!Bu behind this “Equal Opportunity” lies the army of enemies waiting to attack its prey. Enemies – Those people who smiles in front of us, but when we turned our backs, they can’t wait to plot their knives at our backs. This can be seen in our daily lives. Lots of backstabbers, therefore we should take extra precaution in every action we do. I found this very disturbing: First, all black race should die; Second, the way it should happen. Genome or Virus. This scared the hell out of me. Lately, headlines regarding deadly viruses are being circulated around the world. I mean, in just a blink of an eye, one can die because of some rare virus. To cite an example, Ebola. The Militant Genome in an eye-opener for massive breakout of viruses. Mankind must prepare now before it’s too late. Realizations: First, racial discrimination is still present in our society. We cannot achieve World Peace if we can’t accept the fact that we are all equal. We must start the positive vibes within ourselves and share it to the world. Second, be observant. We are already consumed with our current phase that we let other people to dictate what to do; how we should live our life, etc. We must change that habit by being observant. We must use our five senses and be aware of every detail in this world. Third, we must prepare. Yes, we must learn to prepare for the worst and for the best. We don’t know what’s in store for us. Lastly, pray. We should never forget to seek the Divine Intervention of our Lord. Recommendation: I highly recommend this book to everyone. Learn and discover new terms and interesting facts. Happy reading! Hope you enjoyed my book review.

The Militant Genome by Braxton DeGarmo The Militant Genome is a action packed story that looks at an often ignored "dirty little secret" of America's past that as this book points out isn't really in our past. Having not too long ago come across a newspaper article (from 1915) discussing the Eugenics laws that were becoming quite prominent in the early 1900s. Yes, that's right Eugenic laws in the USA (which I didn't have discussed in any US History class or book, by the way). Yes, that's right Eugenic laws in the USA (which I didn't have discussed in any US History class or book, by the way). Bring this mindset into the 21st century with our advancements in science especially in the medical field and you get The Militant Genome. Imagine that instead of just denying people the right to marry and have children during the dawn of the 20th century lawmakers could have instead wiped out of existence anyone deemed unsuitable by means of genetic manipulation. Would they have used this weapon of genocide? Well, the Colonel (not his name) the man behind the Missouri White Alliance (MWA) has no such compunction and is willing to use his influence in the field of genetics to create a weapon that will create what in his opinion is the "solution to the world's biggest problems." When a young man is murdered in the hospital and he is linked to a murdered foreign diplomat, racial tensions quickly rise to the breaking point in St. Louis. Doctor Sarah Wade and Detective Seamus O'Connor are caught up in the chaos when a rogue member of the MWA decides to make a statement by kidnapping Sarah's best friend Della Winston, a woman who could identify the killer! All too soon it is a race against time to stop an act of genocide on American soil. But someone is determined to silence anyone who may have information that can stop this act of terror. Braxton DeGarmo has created a believable bioterror-thriller that will keep you up into the wee hours of the morning with the refrain of "Just one more chapter and then I'll put it down" going through your head. But that one more chapter will never come until you get to the last page and hope for a sequel. I was provided a copy of this book by TBCN and the author Braxton DeGarmo in exchange for my honest and fair review.

Sergeant Seamus O'Connor from the Homicide Division is conducting the interviews of the people involved with the death at the E.D. Finally Sarah gets to meet with him after waiting forever. Sarah just happens to be African-American which wouldn't have to do with anything, but is important later on in the story. Sarah's best friend Della Winston is a larger than life woman, seen on Television a lot. She puts herself in harm's way to help another who had been hurt, but will it come back around to harm her later. There are evil forces at work and eventually all of these characters will be involved, some not by their own choice. The plot in this book is so detailed, so involved with everyone that I cannot say anymore without giving anything away. There is also a strong web of faith that is woven throughout the story. Which will win? This book is exciting up until the very last word on the last page. I would recommend it to any or all who love medicalthrillers, I received this book from BookFun in exchange for my honest opinion.

The Militant Genome Chapter 1 of The Militant Genome by Braxton Degarmo begins with Sarah Wade, Chief Resident, working a trauma practice scenario in which she would have to assess and manage her live patient appropriately. As the story unwinds, he will find out that solving the mystery involves medical research, white supremacists, prejudice, militants, a Nigerian diplomat, family secrets, corruption, and many other surprises. The story has many twists and turns and, to avoid ruining it, I will not disclose the rest of the story. This medical thriller was suspenseful, action-packed, and exciting from beginning to end. The characters were well developed, interesting, and strong. The story line was intriguing. It was an outstanding novel. I am hoping that there will be a sequel to this book so that many of my questions will be answered. Does anything happen between Sarah and Seamus? Does Chad ever fully come out of his coma? I am a big fan of medical thrillers by Michael Palmer and Robin Cook so I was eager to read this debut novel from Braxton deGarmo. It was as good as I had anticipated. The diabolical plot hatched by evil doers was horrendous, and the efforts of the good guys to stop it was nerve-wracking and very suspenseful. Braxton DeGarmo has written a compelling modern-day Hitler story. The story both appalled me and compelled me to read more and more. This is definitely a story that will remain in your heart after reading. A few times, the medical technical language was difficult for me to follow. I enjoyed reading it. It took a number of pages before I realized that the female main character, Sarah, was black--not that it mattered. Seamus, the police detective, was attracted to her, since she was a strong character, and knew a lot of the people in the area. There was not a lot of scientific information involved, as I thought there might be. There were several murders, and the kidnapping of Sarah's good friend, a tv personality, whose brother was a Senator. All in all, I would recommend i I enjoyed reading it. A few pages in and I was hooked into the story. A lot of medical science involved, which I enjoyed. But then the author gyped me. Divine intervention used to explain quite a few of the plot resolutions. Really??? Mandrake the magician made it all go away. I was sorely disappointed at those points. There were more "miracles" in that book than I've seen my entire 60 years on this planet. The easy out ruined the story. A few pages in and I was hooked into the story.
