Now, that the education minister of France, Najat Vallaud-Belkacem, is so adamant in her will regarding the introduction of the Arabic language in the primary schools of France, …this book is timely.* Topic: Islamization of France, a plan unfolding,...? (number of places for pray, in 1999) "Professor Tariq Ramadan has been banned from entering the United States and France because of his alleged views supporting violence, allegations he strongly denies" in The Guardian, Wednesday 31 August 2005 I’ve watched debates confronting Tarik Ramadan with several of France's (and Swiss) intellectuals and authors, over the years. In one of them, Villiers, though facing Ramadan and telling him he looked “intelligent”, charged him on several areas, namely: (1) 30,000 polygamy cases; and 60,000 forced marriages in France; (2) Harassment occurring in hospitals perpetrated by Muslim people; when a-man-is-consulting-with-woman situations; (3) In school some authors being censored like Camus, Victor Hugo, Chateaubriand; even the Shoah hard to be taught; (4) Lack of control in the “quartiers”. (5) De Villiers summed up the situation: “the Republic was receding and “communitarism” was advancing. There’s no moderate Islam; the existing one cannot be integrated in the Republic. (6) As solution to these issues he spoke of the UK example (Tony Blair time): one compulsory hour of British culture; to those Muslims in France he defends a “francesization” and obedience to the laws of the Republic. A political solution. Of course, T. Ramadan’s defense (on the issue of many Muslims in prison) was that de Villiers was “ethnocisizing” the problem. Ramadan proposed a moratorium on the polemic women's issue "lapidation des femmes" (stoning of women): people need time to mature, develop. Interestingly, Ramadan asked Villiers, near the end of the interview: what’s more important to you, Jesus or Chirac? Villiers responded: Jesus.
