Really enjoyed this book. The hero was wild when he was a teenager and the heroine's sister used that reputation to get out of her marriage, the hero had to deal with the fall out, his grandfather kicked him out and the heroine who he liked, believed that lie. So, when he sees the heroine at a masquerade ball and she propositions him, its a time to fulfill his fantasies. The hero tries to tell her who he is, but she doesn't want to know. The heroine tried to compensate for her sister's wildness by being good but with the hero she lets loose. The next day when she learns his identity she is angry. I liked both the characters. The hero was judged during his wild years and has changed and it takes time for the heroine to see that. There is a sub-plot with someone gunning for the heroine and I so knew who it was.

A good romantic read for lovers but not my cup of tea.

Basically, he intends to show the townspeople, who turned their back on him for something he didn't do (and without asking for an explanation) that he has risen above them and made something of himself. Basically, he intends to show the townspeople, who turned their back on him for something he didn't do (and without asking for an explanation) that he has risen above them and made something of himself. He doesn't expect to run into Willow Portis, the sister of the girl he was accused of having an affair with and the girl he'd been interested in and flirting with before he'd left. Unfortunately, she believed the accusations and his leaving broke her heart. So on the first night of his return, at a masquerade dance, he ends up flirting with her and taking her to bed before explaining who he is. And he knows she's going to be angry when she finds out. On the whole I enjoyed the story. It was engaging, not overly dramatic and had just the right touch of angst. The characters were believable and likeable, especially Dev with his scarred self-esteem and his thirst to prove himself. One thing I didn't like was that Willow became weak-kneed and lustful every time Dev came near her, even when, in her head, she felt she had a valid reason to stay away from him. It seemed too contradictory that for a woman with a spine (most of the time), she couldn't stand up for what she wanted (or didn't want) in the face of Dev's appeal. And how easily she gave into Dev's "alpha" decisions kind of made me doubt she had any backbone at all. The mystery plot wasn't all that great, but it's really not the reason you read a book like this. I knew who did it the second the character had been introduced.

So I think that if I hadn't read the entire series all in a row, then I would have given this book a higher rating. But since I did read them all in a row, the book was exactly like the first 2 and from the first Chapter, I knew exactly what was going to happen.
