Great book for making phonics come alive! Very much enjoyed the range of animals. A book that could be really fun to read with children.
Budding –
My first library book. One day before turning 7 months.
Jordan Welch –
Simple, colourful and fun. Plenty of phonics and a great cast of animals.
Miss Sarah –
All the animals are playing differnt instruments and getting ready for something but what could it be? Like the movements and brightly colored pictures. Toddler and up

I only gave it three stars as it doesn't have that many words in the book and I think some bits in the story are a bit strange. It says "Cool Koala plays the flute", which is odd because you would never see a Koala play the flute. But the imagination for the book is good. I love Nick Sharratt's illustrations in Julia Donaldson's books. They're perfect for the preschool crowd: bright, bold, lively, colourful, and diverse featuring lots of texture and pattern. My daughter and I have enjoyed all his collaborations with Julia Donaldson that we have read so far. We also enjoy that she rhymes, but it's a bit clunky at times. Still, overall, a fun read.

I like that you can put many actions and sound effects to it, you could even create a child orchestra with everyone doing an action/making a sound. The text is ok and it's not much in the way of a story but I really like Sharratt's illustrations.
