In this case, experience with auditioning for and booking scores of ‘small parts’ over a career that now spans more than twenty years. Some actors may turn their noses up at the prospect of acting, never mind embracing small roles for more than ‘a year or two’, or ‘just to get started.’ I had the pleasure of interviewing Laura Cayouette for Actors Talk Podcast, Episode 39. You can find the (audio only) interview here: http://www.actorstalkacting.com/39 Laura takes her 20+ years of experience as an actress in Los Angeles and now in New Orleans and her work in films and television shows like Django Unchained, Now You See Me, Kill Bill, The Evening Star, Friends, Treme, etc. and offers actors a clear understanding of the challenges and opportunities that come with auditioning for and booking small parts.

This is a very solid book on the art and business of professional acting. The author writes in a clear and accessible style, giving readers a sense we're being guided by an old and trusted friend. Highly recommend to anybody going into film! It's written primarily for actors, but even as someone more focused on directing and post-production, there are great takeaways. Takeaways that, for instance, have changed my entire perspective on how I approach my work and my professional self - and of course if you are/want to be a director, it can only help you to know what actors go through in their journey. Laura Knows what she is talking about! Never seen an acting book written by an actual actor - and it's great. Fun read with lots of practical advice. If i were starting out in the acting world, i would certainly have this on my shelf. Laura Knows what she is talking about! Never seen an acting book written by an actual actor - and it's great. I remember the first time I saw the highly acclaimed Tarantino movie, Django Unchained. There were many memorable scenes, but my favorite was one that began with Leonardo DiCaprio, Jamie Foxx, Samuel L Jackson, and Christolf Waltz; all Hollywood superstars doing their best work together. But it wasn't until the latter part of the scene that Laura Cayouette made her first appearance, and immediately turned my focus to her scenes throughout the rest of the movie. But it wasn't until the latter part of the scene that Laura Cayouette made her first appearance, and immediately turned my focus to her scenes throughout the rest of the movie. Her's may not have been one of the leading roles, but it was a perfect performance, added greatly to the movie's success, and demonstrated how an actor's passion to play a part can catch an audience's fullest attention. I later learned Tarantino wrote her scenes with her specifically in mind for the part. Quite the tribute! I've always been interested in reading inspirational books, and when I learned about Laura's book, Know Small Parts and its content, I decided to give it a try. Plus its Foreword was written by one of the great actors of all time, Richard Dreyfuss. Talk about a testimonial!! The book is a testament to the fact that one doesn't have to be the highest paid star in a movie, on a football team, or on a business totem pole, to still have the opportunity to be a huge difference maker in any role we have. This book is nothing short of AMAZING. I have it now as #1 in this category. If I were someone that was aspiring to be an actor, or already in the business, this book would be a no-brainer, a must read and worth many, many times more than its price. But as a lifelong business person of 30+ years, I can also assure you that this book would also be on my highest recommendation for any person looking for proven advice on business and interpersonal skills such as preparedness, determination, handling rejection, professional persistence, and certainly skill development. Ms. Cayouette has already had a wonderful career in acting, a true movie star, but after reading this book, I know I learned about a person that will continue to perfect her skills, no matter how impressive her resume. And now she's sharing a book that offers invaluable inspiration and skills about her intriguing experiences. I normally would type a smaller paragraph for a book I have enjoyed, but this book deserves a 10 STAR REVIEW. IT'S A KEEPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She's fantastic I have no idea what to say here, but Laura is simply awesome. I love her positivity, her encouraging way of writing. She motivates and inspires, and let's us all know that possibilities are endless. It's an impossible business, but she reminds us how fortunate we are to simply be a part of it. She reminded me personally here, that we're all in the same boat. And it's such an amazing journey. Thank you Laura She's fantastic I have no idea what to say here, but Laura is simply awesome.
