Well-written and full of many wonderful period photographs, this is a terrific history of North Carolina in the early half of the 20th century. I wish I'd had this when I was in college because it covered far more in a couple chapters than my NC history class did in an entire semester.

North Carolina During the Great Depression is a wonderful book for readers of non-fiction, especially those with roots in "The Old North State." The vintage black and white photos beautifully capture a bygone era.
