I have long been fascinated by the Royal family, and so when I had the opportunity to read and review this book I jumped at it! This is a delightful little biography! Being someone who watched Kate and William's wedding on TV, it was very interesting to think like a child who is perhaps not familiar with these events or even Kate herself, and I wholeheartedly believe that this biography will give readers a fantastic picture of Duchess Kate's life. Kate is one amazing woman who never ceases to inspire me! I loved reading this book and I enjoyed learning some things about her and the rest of the Royal family that I didn't previously know. I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone who wants to learn more about the Duchess of Cambridge. (5 Stars!) I received an ebook copy of this book through the Celebrate Lit team. Which did not influence my review in any way, all thoughts and opinions are one hundred percent my own.

On television, two billion more were glued to the action.” As one of those two billion people glued to the TV, I enjoyed Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge by Susan Barnett Braun, an excellent biography for children interested in learning details about Kate Middleton’s life and her journey to become the wife of England’s future King. It’s a fairly short book, but very thorough, concise, and easy to follow. While entertaining and informative in itself, it would also make a great educational resource for children. I have always admired and enjoyed following the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, who ascended to the throne when I was a child. And like many Americans who were later drawn to Charles and Diana, I’ve longed for William and Kate to have a happy marriage. I loved how this book follows Kate from her school years – when a fellow student described her as “ordinary, hard-working, athletic, and easy-going” – through the birth of their third child. Although I was fairly familiar with Kate’s journey, there were some interesting facts that I learned, such as the bullying she experienced at one school and that, at 29, she was the oldest woman to ever marry a future King of England. I had to laugh at these stats about the college William and Kate attended: “Applications to St. Andrews were up 44% the year the prince started there, and 90% of those extra applicants were female.” The author does a good job at showing a couple who want to be as normal as possible – and, while no lurid details are given, it’s obvious that William and Kate seek to avoid the mistakes of the past. Recommended. I received a copy of this book through Celebrate Lit. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

This read is about more than the royal couple though, as we are treated to Kate’s early life with her family and at different schools. What every royal watcher wants, a picture, is included with every chapter. Welcome addendums to the book are chapters on each of Kate and William’s three children. I would happily recommend this book to upper elementary students and even adults who want a quick look into Kate’s life and history. I know I was pleased to learn a few things about this royal. Catherine Middleton struggled a lot with many of the normal things non-royalty girls and women struggle with. It gave a very real picture of her insecurities, internal battles, dealing with bullies as a young girl, and waiting for a very long time for her Prince to wake up, and marry her. It makes it clear that rich or poor, life deals us difficulties. Technically, the story was very linear and written in a way a young girl could understand. For an avid reader like myself, I read it in one night. Catherine Middleton struggled a lot with many of the normal things non-royalty girls and women struggle with. It's clear the author really knows her stuff, when it comes to the royal family. It was a nice and well organized story. I received this book as a gift, with no obligation for a review and no other compensation other than a good read.

A lovely, well written biography of Catherine Middleton or Kate. I enjoyed learning the history of her early years, the schools she attended as well as some of the joys and sorrows that all young people experience. This short book is a great resource for anyone wanting to know more about her life and the beginnings of her relationship with Prince William. I received this book through CelebrateLit and all impressions and opinions are my own.

This biography of Kate Middleton is accurate, informative, and up-to-date. Kate Middleton has been all over the news for years, but where did she come from? This is a children's biography that can be read in about 30 minutes (by an adult). It would be perfect to have in a school library for kids doing a research project. Paragraphs are short, unlike those in most biographies that can discourage kids. This book isn't too in-depth because to go into nit-picky details would be boring and irrelevant to its audience. The color pictures also add to the book, and I liked the red cover. At one point in the book Braun mentions that Kate wore a red coat to an event to stand out in a crowd, and that seems to be what this book is trying to do, too. Braun makes Kate seem easy for any kid to relate to and focuses on the positive points in her life. I found the quotes in the book very insightful, especially as I've hardly ever heard Kate talk. I hadn't realized how remarkable it really was to have William pick Kate out of a crowd of girls at college, then "date" off and on for ten years. At one point, he tells her he plans to marry her, but is "not ready yet." She waits around for him to come marry her. That more than anything else seems to show Kate's accommodating, almost submissive personality that set her apart from other girls. The end of the book tells about the new royal baby, George Alexander Louis. You would be hard pressed to find another published book with such current information! The book flows well, like a story, but the paragraphs split up the writing into smaller chunks that would be very helpful for a student writing a research paper. Whether you're looking to learn more about the Duchess of Cambridge or find a subject for your child's research paper, look into purchasing this book.

Prince William is certainly a charmer and a special young woman has caught his eyes. Kate Middleton reminds me a great deal of Princess Diana. Kate is very poised, loves family and does many charity duties. It did her awhile to finally get those special words asked her by Prince William. The wedding was spectacular and very moving. I loved reading about their dating and going to the same school. It was quite funny to read how the school they both attended rose in applications when Prince William decided to go there. The book is an easy read and gives get insight into the history of the Royal family. Now that Kate Middleton is called Duchess of Cambridge, she seems to be always in the papers and under a microscope. Girls dream of marrying a prince when they grow up , but I'm sure it is not all glamorous and fun. The Duchess of Cambridge keeps busy withe three adorable children, responsibilities and protocol which the Queen oversees at times. I'm not sure I would fit in that lifestyle, but I do love to read about them. This is a great book for children to read and be introduced to a woman who became Duchess of Cambridge. I received a copy of this book by Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

I really enjoyed learning about Kate Middleton in this short, but wonderfully written book. Kate grew up as an "Ordinary Girl", not of royalty. She endured bullying in her school years. Kate eventually met her "Prince Charming", things that little girls dream of. The book entails the love story of Prince William and Duchess Kate and goes through the birth of the 3rd child. WONDERFUL book and it really hit the mark for its target audience of girls 5-11. The book is a valuable resource for doing school projects or just reading about Duchess Kate. I really enjoyed it as an adult! GREAT BOOK!!

The world seems to be enamored with anything royal these days, young girls included. I’m not sure if it’s because we dream that someday that could happen to us, or feel it is a real life fairy tale story, or just wonder what it would be like to live royally for a moment. I think the thing I most liked about this book is how Braun paints Catherine as just a regular person. A person who goes through struggles of patience, bullying, and facing the big world out there. Beneath all that glamour, all that responsibility, is a person who has some of the same problems we do. I think young girls will enjoy and relate to that, but also get the sense that Catherine isn’t to be put on a pedestal. It was obvious that Braun put a lot of research into this book to learn so much about the beloved Dutchess, and I found it to be a fun and informative read. I recommend for young girls who are looking for more information on Catherine, and what her upbringing was like. The chapters are short and sweet, and can be read in no time. Kate Middleton herself is an intriguing person because of her rise to fame like Princess Diana had. We all enjoyed watching her wedding, getting to see her children, and are looking forward to her future as queen. As an American, the royalty concept itself is just an interesting one because we don't have anything like that. The author did a really good job of meeting her target age group by writing on that level. Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge This is a children’s book that is very well written. I enjoyed learning and reading about Kate. I did learn a lot from reading it. Probably more a book for girls but you never know that boys may like it too. The story starts out from the time Kate was born to present time. It covers her school years, which I found very interesting. The book has details of her life but not in great detail. I believe a child would enjoy the book and keep them interested. "Katie Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge" by Susan Barnett Braun was fun to read. I admit I never really was interested in the Royal Family before reading this book. Now, I have to say after reading this book I am more curious about this family but at the same time, I am thinking, this family needs their privacy more. I was surprised that a girl that was bullied so bad that she had to change schools could grow up and become the Duchess of Cambridge.
