The author of this book targeted for children aged preschool through first grade achieves the three objectives that she set forth: introducing children to lesser known African animals, finding an animal for each alphabet letter, and giving some quick and interesting facts for each animal. I must admit learning a few new facts, the horn of a rhino is made of keratin like our fingernails, a giraffe's tongue is 18 inches long, and an elephant's trunk can be used as an extra foot. I thought the animals and facts chosen were interesting, but the pictures were a bit small and, in some instances, difficult to see clearly. Still the book is put together well, and a lot more interesting than most ABC books. This book is appropriate for the targeted audience.

This book is about 26 African Animals. There is one for each letter of the alphabet with just enough facts about each sprinkled in to hold the youngest child’s attention. The facts are not your common facts. They are very unique like a lot of the animals she listed. Wonderful book for young and old alike.
