Availability: Ready to download

Driven by her mantra of 'peace, love, and all the good stuff' and her junkin' addiction, Jimmie Rae cruises the Texas blacktops looking for vintage treasures and unique antiques. She gets more than she bargains for when she finds a stash of stolen goods in a junk store bathroom and then discovers a fellow antique dealer murdered at the flea market. The police detective on Driven by her mantra of 'peace, love, and all the good stuff' and her junkin' addiction, Jimmie Rae cruises the Texas blacktops looking for vintage treasures and unique antiques. She gets more than she bargains for when she finds a stash of stolen goods in a junk store bathroom and then discovers a fellow antique dealer murdered at the flea market. The police detective on the case is also her broken-hearted former high school sweetheart and much to Jimmie Rae's distress, he's more than a little eager to pin her for the theft and murder. The assistance offered by a sexy new antique dealer seems too good to be true, but the way things are going, she can't afford to turn him down. Just as she begins to fall in love with him and allow him to collect her heart like a cheap Cracker Jack prize, the obvious hits her--he may be the killer she seeks. The truth emerges in pieces just like the pattern on her Depression-era quilt. In true Lone Star style, Jimmie Rae goes after the killer alone, uncovering a bigger-than-Texas sized crime ring that strikes closer to home than she imagines. I so enjoyed reading this book. Jimmie Rae Murphy is one ornery and likable gal with a "junking obsession," and her adventure to find a friend's killer takes her many different places estate sales (where she would have gone anyway), gas station bathrooms, the apartment of her ex-husband's new lover, and quite possibly into the arms of a mysterious and handsome stranger. Jimmie Rae can't seem to get away from danger, even in the seemingly mundane world she thought she lived in. First Monday Murder I so enjoyed reading this book. Really enjoyed this book. Loved the bigger than life Texas characters. I think I have met some of them! The Snoopy Linus scene was a real laugh out loud momenrt. Jimmie Brae is my new favorite. Cant wait for the next one.

~Cozy mystery adventure ~A very light weight cozy novel. The plot was okay…seemed there were a couple gaps. This doesn’t claim to be a masterpiece novel…it is a murder mystery focusing on a somewhat inapt main character. It sort of fleshed out the story…gave the reader an idea what was going on in the minds of the stories characters. Most every reader can relate to the main character finding the really hot guy…or girl…but some of the story about flea market shopping might be lost on the reader if not explained. ~I think that I would recommend this book to murder mystery readers…with the understanding that it is a cozy, and a light weight read. Something to enjoy in-between the readings of much more gritty murder story.

I see potential for this series. It did bother me that the lead character made many lame brain decisions and put herself in harms way over and over...and for goodness sake..get a decent cell phone. I live in Texas and have never been without service! I hope the author will make the lead a bit more savvy in the next book in the series " Vintage Murder"

This was a fun read since I have been to First Monday many times. It was especially fun to read the book since I had just met the author, a talented junker herself, in her booth at Warrenton. I will look forward to her next book as I have a personal interest!
