ABOUT THE BOOK What is a Jersey girl? "A love of an unpretentious good time, and a certain sense of style. Jersey girls are about attitude. They're about eating pizza, drinking beer, having great hair - and enjoying it all. She's got a mouth on her. She says what she means. And she's got a nice, cheerful laugh. Bottom line, all of them are sexy as hell" (from the Newark, N ABOUT THE BOOK What is a Jersey girl? "A love of an unpretentious good time, and a certain sense of style. And she's got a nice, cheerful laugh. Bottom line, all of them are sexy as hell" (from the Newark, NJ, Star Ledger, as published on UrbanDictionary.com). That definition could have been written about bestselling, award-winning author Janet Evanovich, a Jersey girl who has won legions of fans with her quirky characters, fast-paced plots and snarky, west-of-the-Hudson wit. Over the span of an almost twenty-year writing career, Evanovich has penned more than a dozen romance novels: the Barnaby and Hooker series; the non-fiction title How I Write; more than a half dozen collaborative novels; two graphic novels; and the light paranormal Wicked books, which feature a not-so-angelic hero in search of statues representing the Seven Deadly Sins, and a heroine who has the ability to detect magical charms. MEET THE AUTHOR Donna Birdsell is an experienced writer and a member of the Hyperink Team, which works hard to bring you high-quality, engaging, fun content. Happy reading! EXCERPT FROM THE BOOK Evanovich, a card-carrying member of the Romance Writers of American and Sisters in Crime, wrote for 10 years before she was published. Her earlier efforts were not, she admits, terribly commercial. "The first story was about the pornographic adventures of a fairy who lived in a second rate fairy forest in Pennsylvania." (evanovich.com) Nor were they well-written. Of her early writing, she tells Dan Schawbel in a Forbes interview in January 2012: "I struggled with everything! I struggled to learn basic skills, get a grip on markets, find my own unique voice, create story lines and come up to speed with the industry. I struggled for ten years before having any success." Of the creative process, she says she has no clue where her story ideas come from. " I take in a lot of stuff from real life, movies, television, news and it all gets mixed in my head and somehow turns into a story idea." Even after she sold her first book, it was no meteoric rise to the top. Though her romance novels met with minor success-one of them winning romance's Golden Leaf Award-it would be years until she hit the bestseller lists. A real let down! It's some lady who wanted to make a quick buck off Janet Evanovich!! The book has very little information actually about Janet! The majority of the book is quotes of Janet or about Janet! Five pages of the 53 page book is a list of her books! I was sooooo disappointed! The only thing I learned is the few jobs Janet held before her writing career took off. Again, if you are considering buying this...don't!!
