I am not sure I would describe this as the greatest collection of Christmas stories but it is a pretty good one. There are five stories herein with two from the forties (Superman and Captain Marvel, the original one, not the latter day pretenders to the name), one from the sixties (Teen Titans) and one from the seventies (Batman). There are five stories herein with two from the forties (Superman and Captain Marvel, the original one, not the latter day pretenders to the name), one from the sixties (Teen Titans) and one from the seventies (Batman). Of these only the Batman story was familiar. The fifth story was a previously unpublished Angel and the Ape story. I presume this story was intended for an issue of their own comic that was never published. Interestingly the Superman, Captain Marvel and to an extent the Batman stories could be considered to be more human interest stories. There is some crime in the Batman story but it is really only there to bring Batman and two of the main characters together. Only the other two stories have a real criminal element to them. As well as the stories there are a few other features as well. These are a Christmas quiz, a calendar, do-it-yourself Christmas cards, a guessing game and a page where several villains tell us how they feel about Christmas. Also, in somewhat of a departure from the norm for this series the cover is a wraparound cover. All in all this was a fun collection. Most of this material was new to me. I was pleasantly surprised by the Angel and the Ape story. That was a feature I had avoided when it first came out, but that may have been an error on my part. For either DC Comics fans or Christmas fans this is a good addition to the library.
