My father found this book at my fiancé's place and absolutely fell in love with it. After his visit he went straight to the bookstore and bought himself a copy - the very copy which I am myself reading. Similarly, "Istamta' Bi Haliyatik" is filled with stories that deal with problems, behaviours and attitudes that one encounters in everyday society. Each story has a moral and an analysis of the situation. THe au My father found this book at my fiancé's place and absolutely fell in love with it. I must admit, it is the best book that I have ever read on inter-personal skills. Sheikh Mohammad Al-Areefy has very comprehensively explained the principles of self-development and interpersonnal skills using the detailed examples of the life of Beloved, most Honourable Messenger and Prophet of Allah Prophet Mohammad SAW (Peace be upon Him) and his beloved companions. One of the best and quality books on personal leadership. This book has not highlighted how to enjoy your life in all phases, but also emphasized the facts the principles of modern communication have been derived from the teachings of Islam, Muslims and submission to Allah's will in Muslim Societies. Its contents include many interesting & beautiful incidents from Prophet Muhammad's (s.a.w.) life, some of which I haven't known before & many other Islamic stories. People from any age group can read it as it is written in a quite easy language and is divided into different chapters for easy comprehension. This book serves two purposes at the same time; first, it helps us to know about many self-development and interpersonal techniques and second, that it introduces us to the skills Prophet (PBUH) and His Companions would use in their lives. If applied to our lives, this book can bring a quite positive change to us and how we interact with others.

This was a gift from a friend (Thanks Asma!). I'm not a non-fiction reader, but I really loved this one. It was beautiful! Learned a lot from it. For instance, how to deal when interacting with people and lots others. It was amazing! I even got to read about Mohamad al-Arefe's experiences. Also, about the life of our noble Prophet (SAW). This subject matter this book covers is extremely important for everyone, especially for Muslims. The book shows us how to practice Akhlaaq and Adab (good manners and respectful behavior) in the light of the teachings of Muhammad (saw). Many a Muslim today shows atrocious manners and rude behavior. This book teaches good behavior and motivates the reader to improve themselves as part of their faith. It is an extremely relevant book. Having said that, as is the case with Darusalam's books, this book needs to go through professional editing by American editors. I have read 450 pages so far and I have struggled with that too, due to the disjointed writing. Professional editing can turn his book into a true masterpiece.

This is a lovely book. Full of advice and stories on how to interact with people in a beneficial manner. To make others feel good about themselves whilst also increasing their love/respect for you. One of my favourite snippets is: Apologise in the beginning is better then apologising in the end. Brilliant. And very realistic. When you read a book that requires or inspires you to change your perspective or gives you good advice on bettering yourself, you kinda just read it. Well, this gives good practical advice that you can willingly put into effect immediately, very helpful. Highly recommend.

Its uncomplicated language makes it easy to follow along, thanks to the translator, and Shaykh Al-Arefe does a great job in encouraging you to put into practice what he teaches you. He makes you aware that any previous mistakes in your interaction with others are not setbacks to repairing and building successful relationships in the future. Most of the lessons are not particularly new or groundbreaking information that a person who is actively seeking to become better at inter-personal skills would have come across or perhaps been taught once in his lifetime. Rather what makes this book so great is the many stories and lessons that are extracted from the Prophet’s life, may peace be upon him, as well as personal anecdotes from the shaykh. The stories epitomize good character and at times I even found myself holding back a tear or cracking a smile at some of the accounts. The take-home message I got from this book is that to serve God is to also serve His creation. This will ultimately lead us to live a happier life when things don’t go as planned. Often, rights of a relationship are not fulfilled by others which lead to confrontation. When you learn to shift your focus on serving others instead of stressing on what you can’t change, in other words by working within your remit of control, that is when you realize how to tactfully address problems, let go of the small stuff and just ‘enjoy your life’! To any Muslims, or even non-muslims, who want to improve their relationships based on a reason higher than non-secular objectives, this book is a good step forward. It was ironic to find out that this book was inspired by the bestseller ‘How to win friends and influence people’, which was originally on the top of my ‘want to read’ list on self-help. I intend to read Carnegie’s work next for cross reference, but I’m glad that I chose this as an introduction to the topic.
