This is an excellent canning & preserving book that I would recommend for someone just starting to "put up" food. The book stresses safety throughout, which is important not only for possible burns, but especially for food safety - botulism is a completely undesired result of this kind of hard work. Canning is a labor of love, but extremely satisfying, especially during the cold winter months.
