After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to: 1: Assess a patient’s pretest clinical risk and perform a diagnostic work-up for DVT and/or PE. 2: Prescribe the recommended anticoagulant (and, when indicated, thrombolytic) therapy for patients diagnosed with venous thromboembolism (VTE) or PE. 3: Identify patients who are candidates for placement of an inferior vena cava filter. 4: Recognize the presentation patterns and symptoms of PE in the elderly. 5: Perform office-based evaluation and treatment of the older patient who complains of dyspnea.
