A really quirky, vibrant children's book, my 3 and 5 year old daughters both loved it. Did have to explain what a video shop was though... A really quirky, vibrant children's book, my 3 and 5 year old daughters both loved it. Did have to explain what a video shop was though...

Grade/Interest Level: 2-5 Little Stella has a keen sense for lurking monsters, but unfortunately her mother does not heed her warning and is eaten by a video store monster. Enraged, Stella turns into a monster herself, storming after the monster, on a quest to keep it from eating any more people. While the illustrations are quite unique with their bold colors, sharp lines, and imaginative collage style, they almost make this story too creepy for young readers, in spite of the story's simple, acce Grade/Interest Level: 2-5 Little Stella has a keen sense for lurking monsters, but unfortunately her mother does not heed her warning and is eaten by a video store monster. From an artistic perspective, I would definitely use this picture book with older students as an example of collage media.

What happens when a video store monster eats Stella's mom? She turns into FRANKENSTELLA! Interesting, colorful graphics and a cute story, you don't mess with kids and their mommas!
