“Designing Environments for Young Children” is a book series that currently comprises of three books. All these books use NAEYC guidelines for designing Developmentally Appropriate environments and also the learning standards defined by California Learning Foundations. The book gives ideas for designing traditional and natural play spaces. The second book in the series, “Teaching philosophies for designing environments” discusses major philosophies in early childhood education. The book discusses philosophies like Reggio Emilia, Montessori, Play based, Waldorf, PITC and parent co-op. There are guidelines about incorporating the environments that support these philosophies. The third book in the series, “Designing Environments using multiple intelligences” focuses on creating environments, which are suitable for all learning styles. It discusses various ways of designing centers that correspond to multiple intelligences.
