Very nicely done. Easy to read instructions for three very nice afghans. Thanks to Open Road Media, via Netgalley, for allowing me to view this booklet in exchange for an unbiased review.

I love crochet and wanted to try something new so this looked good however the patterns are in US terms which put me off. The ripple blanket that appears in the book is lovely enough but isn’t something new. The Marrakech blanket is lovely but as I don’t know how to do Tunisian crochet. If I could get a version in UK crochet terms I would definitely look at purchasing. If the actual book is just these three patterns I think I would be disappointed however the patterns are easy to read (if you ca I love crochet and wanted to try something new so this looked good however the patterns are in US terms which put me off. COMFORT CROCHETED AFGHANS: THREE HEIRLOOM BLANKETS FOR HOME AND FAMILY by Norah Gaughan contains the instructions to make three of the afghans from COMFORT KNITTING & CROCHET: AFGHANS by the same author. The latter book is much larger as it contains over 50 afghan patterns. The three patterns spotlighted in this smaller sampler book include Fish Ripples which is a delightful baby blanket. The colorful undulations of this blanket are reminiscent of schools of small fish swimming in the ocean. The colorful undulations of this blanket are reminiscent of schools of small fish swimming in the ocean. The second included pattern is Marrakesh which reflects the city of Marrakesh's exotic flavors and rich tones. The solid background is embellished with monochromatic floral embroidery. The final included pattern is Serpentine worked in a neutral color with highly dimensional ruffles found in nature. As in the larger book, all the patterns are crocheted in Berroco Comfort yarn which is hyperallergenic and machine washable and dryable. It is made of 50% nylon and 50% acrylic. The three afghans are illustrated beautifully and the patterns are clear and well-written. Stitches are explained. The patterns are aimed at all skill levels from beginner to advanced. These patterns are each different and they make me want to pick up my hook! If you want more of a choice, you should really consider the larger book with over 50 patterns.

The first, fish ripple, is the easiest to do and is bold and beautiful. A fairly quick project to add a dash of color to a room or as a gift. I completed the one for my nephew's birthday in two days. The second, Marrakesh, gives a touch of Morocco's exotic culture. Beautiful as a touch of color and perfect to spruce up a plain dorm room, which is what I plan for the one I am making for my niece who is off to college this fall. The third one is the most elegant and to me the most difficult of the three, but I fell in love with it anyway. I so am imagining this as a cover throw for the guest room. Luckily for me it is done in sections so I can take breaks between them. Three very different styles, but each is gorgeous in their own way. As can be attested to in the lovely photographs of them.

When I requested this book from netgalley (free, in exchange for my honest review), I didn't realize that this was just a sampler. They are now selling the same sampler on amazon - a good idea if you want to make just one of the afghans from the book, that happen to be in the sampler: Fish Ripples (a baby blanket which can be easily upsized), Marrakesh (with embroidery), and Serpentine (which is not to my taste because of the ruffles, but because it's made in sections, a lot of people will like When I requested this book from netgalley (free, in exchange for my honest review), I didn't realize that this was just a sampler. All afghans in the sampler - and I assume in the larger, full size book as well - are made out of Comfort (comfort afghans - get it?), a machine washable, soft, acrylic / nylon yarn.

NetGally Free Book The patterns in this book have well planned instructions and the pictures are clear and precise. All three patterns are tight for warmth. I think a book with this quality of instructions and pictures need more than 3 patterns. It also needs some alteranate ideas for each afghan to mix it up a little bit. Maybe a different edging that could be done or plans for different sizes.
