3.5 Stars. The son and daughter of feuding families, Jake and Skye spent their early years fighting to be together, but somewhere along the way, the fight went out of them. So much distance separates them that until Jake returned to his hated hometown, he had no clue that Sky had given birth to their daughter, or that a tornado had put Skye into a coma. With Skye’s memory of their unhappy times temporarily washed away, Jake has a second chance to either make things right, or to get it wrong all 3.5 Stars. With Skye’s memory of their unhappy times temporarily washed away, Jake has a second chance to either make things right, or to get it wrong all over again. This one wasn’t maybe as romantic as you might expect a romance novel to be, but I was fine with that, I like when category romances bust the mold a bit, I like that Jake wasn’t an ideal hero right from the start, he needed much of the book to get there. I thought Jake had a really strong arc, it was interesting seeing him grow out of some fairly selfish behavior and figure out what matters most. This was, I think, more Jake’s story than Skye’s so her character was slightly less developed, though the fuzzy state of her mind, as well as her fatigue were believably conceived. His Lost and Found Family is the second book I’ve read by this author, the first featured a heroine a little curvier than the romance novel norm, while here, Skye is flat-chested. I love Sarah M. Anderson’s decision to write a variety of body images, as readers come in all different sizes and characters in books should reflect that. In both of her novels that I‘ve read, the heroes find the heroines hot no matter where they land on the size spectrum, and I just think that’s such a positive thing to put out there. I received this through a Goodreads giveaway.

This is a satisfying wrap-up to the mystery surrounding Skye and Jake Holt and the Holt/Taylor feud that has been featured throughout this series of the Texas Cattleman's Club. I especially like how the author shows Skye's recovery from a month's-long coma and amnesia as a gradual process that takes a lot of time and rehabilitation work. This isn't the instant cure that most books just gloss over.

Jake Holt and Skye Taylor had been brought up their entire lives to despise each other and their respective families. This story is quite similar to the Hatfields and McCoys, a family feud that has gone on way too long and brought along with it so much heartache and pain for the children of both families. It began and continues over a parcel of land. There are documents that support that one particular family owns it but the losing side wants to claim they are lying and cheating and had the document altered. What they need now is a third party confirmation, a document that is original or someone who can testify that the orignal is indeed original and has not been tampered with. Not easy to do being as how old it is. Probably no one left alive who knows for certain. You will find out at the end of this book who the land really belongs to. Jake and Skye have been best friends since they were seven and eight and through the years have kept it secret from their respective families. As teens they fell in love and just knew the other was their one and only! When they were of age they finally came clean. Both families were furious their child could possibly love the family enemy. They forbid them to be together and told them they had to choose between their family and the one they loved. They chose the one they loved and couldn't possibly live without. Their own families called them traitors...isn't that sad. Later in the night when forbidden by their families they sneak out, ran off, got married, and moved away from the feuding families to have their own peaceful life together. Unfortunately, this move made them enemies of their own families even being called traitors by their parents and siblings. It was very sad. They deeply love each other and wanted nothing more than to spend the rest of their lives together. What else did you think? I have to admit I had a very difficult time liking or caring about Jake. He was a very selfish man and he had not always been that way. Nothing was more important than his new business and the money he was raking in. He said he did it for her but that wasn't true. He had crushed Skye's heart but she doesn't remember the hurtful times. She's had partial amnesia since the accident. She had a traumatic brain injury and has lost two years of her life. She doesn't remember being pregnant or delivering her daughter. She also doesn't recall leaving divorce papers on the counter in their apartment. Jake made his choice and Skye was blue in the face at trying to help him understand the damage the separation was doing to their marriage by leaving for months at a time and she had begged him not to go but he did and really didn't care what she thought. It devastated her. And Jake...she cannot figure out why he has left her to lie in a hospital bed for almost four months and never bothered to visit or call. So there are blanks she needs to fill in. The last she remembers was two-years ago when their marriage was loving and in really good shape. The doctor warns that she must regain the memories on her own. If he just comes out and tells her it is likely to do much damage to her mentally and physically. Someone needed to knock the heck out of Jake to wake him up. He was almost single-handedly ruining his marriage and tossing the women he has loved for twenty years, since he was eight, but refused to see it by always saying he was doing it to earn more money for his wife...right Jake...you just keep on lying to yourself. I thought it was quite interesting watching the recovery process of Skye. I have to believe that she would have been tougher had she not been going through such a difficult recovery. I felt she let Jake off the hook way too easily which made her appear more of a doormat. What bothered me as a reader and lover of anything romance: 1) For me, I felt the story moved too slowly in places and I kept hoping it would pick up the pace a little. That doesn't mean I didn't like it...it just moved too slowly which caused me frustration and made it easy to lose my focus. It was similar to a child on a swing set. I was mentally pumping my legs to make if go higher/faster....which didn't work, of course. 2) At first I felt Jake was wishy-washy. I wasn't so sure he loved his wife anymore or even their newborn daughter who had her own stuggles due to prematurity. Yes, it was a shock but I wasn't pleased with his reactions. I felt like I could almost see the fear of responsibility in his eyes. He was concerned how this would affect or change his business and income and he appeared to me that the business always came first. I thought it took way too much time for him to figure that out. 3) It also took much too long for Jake to realize that he was the one who had changed (most) in their relationship. He stopped putting love first, stopped putting his relationship with his wife first and was working 80 hour weeks. The last job he had took him out of the country for ten months. The man never called home a single time. There was absolutely no communication for ten long months. He didn't know his wife was pregnant let along delivered his child. He was unaware that a tornado had almost killed Skye and the baby and she had just come out of a three-month induced coma. How do you leave like that and not leave behind any contact info. He was terribly needed in town by his wife and child and he was absent.

Back to Royal. I have so enjoyed reading about the next generation of Texas Cattleman's Club members. I also enjoy the fact that even though they are being written by different authors none of them seem disjointed. They're seamless and wonderfully written. Jake Holt is finally back in Royal. He's been out of the country for the last ten months so he had no knowledge of her being hurt in the tornado that devastated the town. He also didn't know that she had been pregnant with his baby. She has no recollection of the last two years which means she doesn't remember that she filed for divorce, that their marriage had fallen in to disrepair and he had left to go to Bahrain. Now he's got a chance to rekindle what they lost and to prove that he wants their marriage to work, that work isn't the main priority to him. Skye woke up disoriented, she didn't remember why she was back in her home town. She doesn't remember being pregnant or why Jake wasn't with her. She's glad to be home though, she's always wanted to come back to Royal even though they left in a whirlwind. Now that Jake has come home for her she knows that they can get things back on track. In the back of her mind though memories start to resurface and she starts to remember things from the two years she lost. How can she forget those memories and move on to the life that Jake says he's wanting now. Loved this one. Jake realized that he had messed up big time and he wanted to change things for his family. Skye was great, she finally saw her parents for the monsters they were to her sister Lark. Fantastic book, I can't wait to start the next one! Luckily I don't have to wait, I've got it queued up to read right now. Please go check out the TCC books. You won't regret it! Leave the authors love in the form of a review!

I really enjoyed this book a lot and am pretty intrigued by the Holt/Taylor feud. The story of Skye and Jake kept me interested through the whole book. I have not read any of the other books in the Texas Cattleman's Club series but that didn't stop me at all from enjoying this book alone. I plan on looking into getting the other books from the series though since I did like this one a lot and want to read more about the feud. They fell in love and managed to keep their relationship a secret for a long time, but when it came out their families were furious. Rather than deal with the hate, they left to make their own life together. The day that the tornado came through Royal, Skye had come to town and been caught in the path of the twister. She was badly injured and her baby was delivered prematurely. Skye herself was in a coma for three months, while her sister Lark cared for the baby (Because of the Baby...). No one knew where Jake was and why he hadn't been with Skye. His brother Keaton has been trying to find him to tell him what happened. At the beginning of the book, Jake has just arrived in Royal, looking for Skye. He had arrived home from ten months out of the country only to find divorce papers waiting for him. He is stunned to see the damages in Royal, and worried about whether Skye was okay. Thanks to a confrontation with Keaton, he discovers that Skye is in the hospital, having been in a coma, and that he is the father of a daughter. He never knew that Skye had been pregnant, Jake had never intended to step foot in Royal again. He has spent the last four years building his business, working insane hours and trying to make a better life for himself and Skye. Unfortunately, it also put a strain on their marriage, and they'd had a huge fight before he left on his last job. When he arrives at the hospital he discovers that Skye has a two year gap in her memory and doesn't remember that she had filed for divorce. She thinks that everything is just fine, and her doctor wants her memory to come back on its own. Jake looks at it as the opportunity to repair their relationship. If he can show her how he really feels, maybe things will be okay when her memory does come back. Skye had been disoriented when she came out of the coma. She didn't remember being pregnant or coming back to Royal. She didn't know why Jake wasn't there with her and why no one would tell her where he was. She was relieved when he arrived and was so happy to see him. Because her doctor didn't want her too far away as she finished recovering, they stayed in Royal. Jake found them a house to live in and he spent his time taking care of her. But something didn't feel right. The rekindling of their relationship was really interesting. Skye didn't know that there had been anything wrong to start with, as those were the memories that were missing. She likes having Jake around so much, as her last memories were from just as the business started taking off. She behaves the way she did when they were first married, which confuses Jake. She's frustrated by the feeling that there is something going on that she doesn't know about, but she's determined to make the most of their time together. As she starts to get her strength back, bits and pieces of her memory return. Can she trust that the Jake she is seeing now will be the one to stay, or will the workaholic make a return once she is well again? Jake had been upset to find the divorce papers, as he still loved Skye very much. He had known that things were going wrong with their marriage, but didn't know what to do about it. Finding that Skye has no memory of the breakup of their marriage, he is determined to use the time to fix things. One of the stresses in their marriage had been his refusal to go back to Royal because of the way they had been treated by their parents. On his return, he discovers that the arrival of baby Grace has begun to change his parents' attitudes and that they are far more welcoming than they had been before he left. This removes one of the obstacles to he and Skye getting back together. He also begins to accept that she had had valid complaints about the fact that he worked all the time, putting his work ahead of her and their marriage. Once he makes that connection, he realizes that he has to make changes if he is going to save their marriage. When her returning memory collides with a new business opportunity, Jake has some important choices to make. The family dynamics were great. We had seen the beginning of the attitude changes by Jake's parents in the previous book, as they got involved with baby Grace. I loved seeing Jake's confusion over those changes when he first saw them again. It takes him awhile to adjust to those changes, and also to seeing his brother with Skye's sister. Skye's parents continue to be a royal pain, and she is stunned by the attitude they still have. They, too, have to learn to let go of the past.

Thanks to a coma induced by a natural disaster, Skye Taylor is confused about the new baby in her life and her husband’s curious distance. She doesn’t remember that she’d filed for divorce before the accident and he’s been forbidden by the doctor to do or say anything that could upset her. All Skye knows is that she’s still in love with Jake—and his excuses about avoiding sex with her aren’t going to hold up for much longer. The novel shifts us back and forth between their viewpoints as Jake struggles not to take advantage of Skye’s amnesia and Skye attempts to sort through the blank spaces in her memories. This novel, about how a married couple tries to fix what’s gone wrong in their marriage, breathes refreshing air into the genre. Their relationship is alternately helped and hindered by their relatives and various in-laws. The years have changed the social dynamics in Jake’s hometown and he has to come to grips with it all and let go, even as the past threatens to ruin his marriage and newfound fatherhood. Jake’s wariness towards and confusion about others in his immediate circle are as admirably written as his wife’s puzzlement over their estrangement. It takes a bit of time to sort through the panoply of characters and how they relate to Jake and Skye. But it’s worth the effort. The novel handles its romance and other subject matters with keen insight and excellent writing. It’s a story with a twist and the occasional spurt of humor, proving that romance can continue even with crying and pooping babies in the mix.

I recommend the series since I love things like mini series because it is a continuation of a family saga. The story takes place in Royal, TX. Jake Holt comes to town to look for his wife Skye Taylor after not seeing her for 10 months. He returns from a job overseas and found that his wife was gone and the divorce papers on the counter. Knowing that she didn't want to live in the big city he heads home to Royal. As he comes into town he sees the destruction from a recent tornado and is worried about his family, and his wife. Skye has been in a medically induced coma after being caught out in the tornado. She suffered a head trauma and is just becoming aware of the current situation, but many parts of her memory are still fuzzy. She was pregnant at the time of the tornado and they induced early labor to deliver the baby. She has to learn to do things all over again since her muscles have become lax, and her husband did not know she was pregnant when he left for his job. The story continues with Skye and Jake getting to know each other all over again. It doesn't help that their families have been feuding over land disputes for years. You'll enjoy this 5 out of 5 stars book.

I should have. An immediate turnoff. The book never addressed her culpability in the demise their relationship. Instead, I felt Jake was being vilified simply for supporting his family. Why should he be forced live his life in a place they both hated but she shouldn't be expected to do less for her husband by standing by his side in neutral territory? This is my first time reading a book from this author but not sure want to read another.

Loved this story from beginning to end. Can a wife remember what happened in the past two years after she looses her memory? Can a husband get the love of his life to remember their love and to forget why she wanted a divorce? Two people so in love but both having their own demons to bare.
