If you decide to read this manga because, like me, you enjoyed The Iron Fey books you may be disappointed. When I came across this book while browsing I was excited to delve into it. The illustrations were great, but that is all I really liked about it. The story felt choppy and didn't flow easily frame to frame. I felt like it jumped without having a direction. It was also extremely too short. One good thing that came out of me reading this is I now want to reread the books again.

So I went into this graphic novel super excited because I love the novels and couldn't wait to read it in this different form. All I have to say is that this is a huge disappointment.... the illustrations don't do the story or the characters justice. In fact, many times the illustrations make the characters act way different from how I have imagined them in the story. Also, so much of the story feels cuts out in order to make it work in this new format and the cuts cause the story to be rushed f So I went into this graphic novel super excited because I love the novels and couldn't wait to read it in this different form. Rating this a 2.5 This is the problem with adaptations of books. While the illustrations were good and the dialogue stayed true to the book, the characters and their dynamic were changed. Well at least Ash’s character was. They turned the winter prince into a derpy character and idk while it made me laugh I liked the original ash better. There was also the fact that while reading I envisioned certain scenes certain ways and seeing them come to life differently was of course a little off putting. I really loved this series. When I found this on my libby app I was so excited to read it. I was a little disappointed by this because it seemed to be overly condensed to the point it just felt choppy. You moved from scene to scene with very little explanation or anything. (Maybe it has to do with the fact that I just read a graphic novel that seemed to have way more writing on the first 20 pages of it than this whole book had but I felt that this could have had a better adaptation.) I also was a little disappointed to see that the images were not in color. I guess not all graphic novels need to be in color but the cover was so beautifully done that the rest of it felt unimpressive. I loved each of the covers for the sections of the book. They were really well done.

I really loved re-reading this story and seeing my favorite characters come to life! It’s been 8 years since I’ve first read the Iron King so I forgot some things, like Virus! Will the other books turn into graphic novels? I wonder if I could get my hands on a hard copy version.

I read this, because I had heard the YA book series was really good. The book series has been recommended to me by several people - however, if this GN/comic series is any indication of how good it is, I will probably never read it. Needless to say, I was very unimpressed with this GN/comic series. It was a struggle to get through it with its' mediocre story and art. If they make GN/comic series of the other books, I probably won't waste my time reading them. I read this, because I had heard the YA book series was really good. I adore this series but this manga/graphic novel is super condensed. However, woth that being said, it was still a nice refresher of the first novel.
