Art can change the way we perceive the world. Book design is impeccable with fore-edge black/white print photography of eyes. The scale of dots in the inner cover for us to grasp the scale of vector needed for the visuals to be seen large and from a specific distance. I keep looking and thinking of how the close-up eyes series when seen closely are essentially JR’s self portrait seen through the reflections of the subjects’ eyes’ reflections. “I see you as you are seeing me” reciprocal dialogue, Art can change the way we perceive the world. I picked this up without knowing anything about JR (Joseph Remnant), although I had an answer to the question. Yes, I believe art can and does change the world. So does JR. This book, as well as the documentary Faces Places, shows the various and ambitious works of JR, former tagger in Paris. Worthwhile, inspiring essays introduce sections of photos.

This book is mostly images and not for everyone... but the art is powerful and, yes, it can change how we as a people, a society, see our world.

If u are one of those who adores art works that are socially unifying, have smt to say and give the msg clearly while not putting esthetical concerns aside; you are already late to buy this book.

Amazing book. The photos are great, but knowing the context behind them (the women are heroes, or the wrinkles of the city series) makes them so much more interesting :-)
