4 stars Secrets are finally revealed. You'll need to read the first book as this one continues a few months later as the couple start a new life together. I loved their relationship. As doubtful and fearful the heroine was, she gave her heart away on a silver platter. Although the secret the hero kept away from her was mainly to protect their relationship, it was still an unforgivable one. I still forgave him though, especially after that last scene. A definite recommendation!

" Just Because" - Fave quote ARC provided for an honest review! This was one of my most anticipated books for the year. And can I just say ... another GREAT cover! Welcome back Phoenix and Ivy! I am so happy the author chose to continue their story. We pick up basically where book one left us. They are living in New York and are "madly in love" with one another! Secrets - When we left off in book one we knew Nix was harboring something huge! I will admit that I thought I knew the secret and every time I thought I knew the truth.... I was wrong! This one, just like the first, was packed full of emotion. It made me laugh....it made me cry.... and it made my heart beat fast and pitter patter. I had butterflies in my stomach during certain parts. The two of them are desperately trying to find their HEA together. It's hard though, when you know one is holding onto things he won't share and one is holding on to the nightmare of what happened to her in book one. We see a different side to Nix in this one. In book one, we fell in love with him as this Perfect boyfriend and in this one - we see more of his flaws and emotions. When the truths are revealed it causes a strain on their relationship. Ivy is devastated. Nix broke my heart! He redeemed himself a little with the "make up" scene. We are introduced to Brock..... he was Ivy's saving grace. To have a friend like Brock! He was so funny and truly a great friend to both Ivy and Nix. With all that the two of them are struggling to overcome you can see just how much Nix loves Ivy. If I had anything negative to say it would be the almost rushed way the sister and father were in this one. I think both of those situations could have used a bit more attention. But - it didn't really take away from the story. "Right now you just want me. I'm about to show you what it's like to truly need me" - Fave quote! Is love enough? That is the burning question. Will these two find their HEA or are they destined to be just friends? A beautiful story with closure! BL Berry has a way of writing words that draw you in. They wrap themselves around you and make you FEEL everything her characters are feeling. The little bits of Humor are Laugh out loud funny. I see a Big Bright Successful future for BL Berry! And I am glad I was along for the ride! Congrats my friend! You nailed this one too! 5 stars "Life is too short not to eat cheeseburgers" - fave quote

His crazy wildness just kept everything moving along smoothly and in some cases (in my opinion anyway) saved the story for me. At some point I couldn't wrap my head around the turn of events and I can't decide if it was a personal dislike of the situation or if it was the intention of how it played out for the characters that I didn't like because I envisioned them otherwise. I had this picture in my mind of what the characters were like and how they were going to react and deal and then the story did a 180 on me. It was good but unexpected. It gave depth to each character and the complexity of the emotions they felt showing a vulnerability I didn't necessary like or expect. I loved the complex dynamic of it all with the exception of some details wilting away unacknowledged such as the sister, the father, Haily... minor but I would have loved to see this wrapped up in more detail - Otherwise brilliant! Thank you so much for allowing me to read this!

5 beautifully written, heart in my throat for the last 30% stars! We all knew Phoenix was hiding something, and BL Berry did a fantastic job building the tension all throughout the story, making us fall in love with Phoenix even more and dread when he'd break our heart. That really wasn't a problem since I was so excited to read it. This book picks up where the other one ends, right after Ivy and Phoenix move to New York together. They're in mushy, they're gushy, they're totally in love. In fact, the dialogue in some spots got a bit stale because it just kept repeating the same things over and over; they love each other, they were made for each other, he/she is "the one." As the story progresses though, we discover that although Phoenix has this desperate need for Ivy to trust him, he's not being entirely honest with her. He feels bad and guilty for not telling her what he's realized, and anguishes over it several time, yet still fails to tell her. One drunken night, when Ivy finds out the truth, we are catapulted into will she-won't she forgive him. Were they truly made for each other as they professed? I was a bit bothered by the fact that these two main characters prattle on repeatedly about how they are just absolutely in love and nothing will stand between them and then when something gets tough, Ivy runs. I get that it's sort of one of her flaws as a character, she runs because she doesn't know what to do but it makes her seem sort of shallow and weak when I originally thought she was this strong character. On the flip side, I see WHY she was so hurt when Phoenix's "secret" is finally out. I never would've guessed that...well, until Hailey (Phoenix's ex) stopped by and alluded to something happening, that is. What a twist! I LOVED the addition of the new character Blake. I'm still unsure if he's not maybe bisexual, but regardless he was a delight. Despite the fact that he's a bit flamboyant, and extremely outspoken he also has a lot of sage wisdom to give out. I really enjoyed him and his friendship with both Ivy and Phoenix. Again, the cover is gorgeous. I like the pretty watercolor image used, much like on the cover of the first book. I think that because I fell so in love with the first book, Love Nouveau, that my expectations for this second one might have been too high. I hate when that happens because it's not necessarily the author's fault; some of the blame goes straight to me because living up to what I expected in my head and heart was probably a near impossible, Herculean task. I honestly think Berry could've condensed this second novel into half of what it was and simply added it to the first one to make one complete story. That's just MY opinion though because I felt like this second novel just sort of went on and on a bit. Don't be mistaken, I still liked it a lot. I needed that closure and ending for the story. It was a beautiful love story with lots of surprises...even if it wasn't exactly what I expected.

My heart is still broken from this one. I must be heartless and unforgiving or something... I loved Phoenix in Love Nouveau. Like, he could do no wrong. But after the first chapter of this one when he revealed he was withholding information from Ivy, I couldn't even let myself feel anything for him. I read the first half of the book distanced from them both, knowing something bad was going to happen... and for a person who loves to experience deep emotions when she reads, that's kind of a bummer. It wasn't until the secret was revealed that I actually started to feel things, but it wasn't love. When I understood how long he'd been hiding this secret, I was angry and resentful. I felt what Ivy felt... only I kept feeling it long after she stopped. Needless to say, I would have taken a completely different path. The writing was, again, beautiful. My favorite parts were Ivy's birthday and the apology scene (even though I, personally, couldn't have accepted it). The thought that would have gone into planning such a gesture would have been utterly romantic and mind-boggling. As for his secret... that, I could have forgiven. It was the fact that he wasn't up front about it when he had plenty of opportunities to be. I'd have to nix Phoenix, as much as it pains me to say it. I've loved the journey, and I've loved how it's challenged me to consider what I would do in such a situation. It's been on my mind for the past few hours, and I imagine it will stick with me for much longer.

Just know that Ivy realizes she is stronger than she thinks she is and Phoenix is able to come to terms with his past. I really enjoyed seeing some of the side characters from the first book featured in here. I also loved the character Brock. He was a trip. I think Berry does a great job of describing the art and the pieces in this book. I could picture it all in my head! When you read this book you will being to have a fondness for origami paper cranes too! I'm glad there was a second book in this series to find out what Phoenix is all about. I am also glad that Ivy is able to work through her previous baggage. I will miss Ivy and Phoenix, but am in way content to see them go. :)

I love the artfully broken aspects. The secondary characters are a crack up and bring in just the right amount of light-hearted relief in just the right moments. Brock. That's all I can say. Phoenix once again, even through his epic mess ups, is such a solid, swoon-worthy BBF!! I absolutely recommend this book... both books actually. Stunning. Just stunning.

I loved that Love Nouveau didn't end on a cliffhanger but this book lends so much more to Ivy and Phoenix's story. Ivy and Phoenix are together in NY, finding out about each other in a tangible way this time by living together. Both in new jobs, life is tough with such a past of hurt haunting their relationship. Family is a swear word to both of them in different ways, so there is a lot of adversity to overcome. New twists present themselves and it made for a fairly fast paced read. BL Berry does it again! I had a love/hate relationship with the characters. There were times I wanted to scream at my kindle and ask them what the fork are you thinking?!? But in the end, I'm sad that is the end of the road for Ivy and Phoenix (I'm still hoping for a novella;-). Also a new character was introduced and I think we could be BFFs. I found myself cracking up at some of that stuff coming out of this character's mouth! I cannot wait to see what new characters BL has in store for us.

Make sure to read Love Nouveau before diving into the conclusion of Phoenix and Ivy’s story!* BL Berry… that woman. She has a way of taking your heart, putting it through an emotional meat grinder and somehow leaving something more beautiful and unexpected than what you thought would be left from before. This book, just like the first book- Love Nouveau, left me breathless. When it comes to dramatic books, many of the stories can be hit and miss for me personally. It is all about balancing the drama with the emotional authenticity of the characters that have been created. Berry does an excellent job of finding that balance and giving us a story that we will not soon forget. In this story we see Ivy and Phoenix, two very connected yet damaged characters, embarking on the next chapter of their story. We see so much of who they are and where they have been in the first book. I was curious about what would come in the second book of their story and BOY was I surprised. These two are such passionate beings that things can get dicey but they find their way back to one another… the real question is if that will always be the case. Ivy and Phoenix have both come from homes filled with pain and hurt. Their past situations have molded them into who they have become. The struggle for both of them is to find the good in their life and in their past, focusing on the beauty of now and shedding the darkness and hurt from before. Ivy has come from such a broken and heartless home. She is always on the outside and that life lesson has molded who she is. When she makes the decision to break away from all the negativity and pain, she is able to breathe again, finding herself and working through her demons. Phoenix is a man on a mission and that mission is Ivy. He understand that this is “it” for him and their connection is something he will fight for to the death. But alas, he has secrets that could destroy what is growing between them. He loves Ivy deeply but there is a fear holding him back from sharing the darkest parts of who he is. Watching these two characters learn to trust one another is painful and beautiful. There is so little trust bred from those in their past that should have been their foundation in life. The ugliness cannot help but seep into their future- causing heart ache and moments that seem to always be the breaking point. The new secondary characters introduced in this story really pushed this book over the edge and into greatness. Brock, the eclectic artist, is exactly the type of humor and unforeseen voice of wisdom that was necessary to the flow of this story. Phoenix’s father is a man of wisdom and unforeseen forgiveness. Ivy’s dad is a man trying to do what is right and reconnect with his daughter. These three add some much needed perspective and distraction for our two main characters’ issues, adding more insight into what is happening. Ivy and Phoenix’s story is not always a pretty one. It is full of the good, the bad, and the ugly. There are secrets and lies of omission. There are past wounds that split open and contaminate the beauty that is around them. Yet despite the hardships, these two fight. There are so many precious moments of hope and life. I loved watching them fall in love and fight for what they had. They were not taught healthy love and relationships growing up so they both had to learn through trial and fire to abandon their individuality and strive for a life together. Some books with this much drama and conflict can turn me off. But in Love Abstract, the beauty of the broken is so well written and displayed that you feel the hurt and love with Ivy and Phoenix. You cheer these two on, willing them to shed their anger and past to find something that is the depth utter love and adoration for their future. This book is the best conclusion for these two characters. Don’t miss out on Ivy and Phoenix’s story and happily ever after!

This series was a fabulous debut from BL Berry and I cannot wait to see what else she has up her sleeve. If you have not read this series STOP! Seriously… I do not want to spoil anything for you! Go pick up Love Nouveau and then come back… you will not be disappointed! Ivy and Phoenix are now living in New York City living the dream. They have a small apartment but they are happy. They have bucket list dates to do all things New York has to offer. Their love seems to grow stronger every day. But something lingers that Ivy knows is not right. There is something that Phoenix is not telling her. She doesn’t push him, she knows when he is ready he will tell her. As long as he does not lie to her, she knows they will get past whatever he is feeling. Until one day a visitor comes knocking at their door and changes everything. Secrets are exposed and Ivy doesn’t know if she can ever trust Phoenix again. What when from the happiest day ever goes to the worst imaginable day and Ivy must decide if Phoenix is worth the fight or maybe it wasn’t meant to be. Just when I thought they would be happy and in love, BL Berry goes and through me off kilter! I loved Phoenix and I wanted him to be the standup guy that we all love but mistakes from the past can come and haunt you in the present and Phoenix learns this the hard way. This is love story that will have you pulling your hair out and having your cursing out the characters and the author who created them! It will make you laugh, it will make you get upset, it will make your heart melt. Definitely a must read!

I'm sat here, as I attempt to write this review, all warm and fuzzy! :) This is a story about a strong, unconditional love, that can survive just abut whatever is thrown at it. Your heart is broken into pieces, but slowly but surely she puts it back together again. This is part 2 and most certainly you need to have read Love Nouveau first. It was not an easy journey, but I am really glad to have been part of Phoenix and Ivy's journey. Considering there are mainly straight roads in the USA, I'm afraid that this journey was full of hairpin bends and many curves. I was really rooting for them both to succeed. I was glad that Icy finally accepted the truth of the ordeal that Sully put her through, she was in denial for too long, but she did make a statement. She was a victim of abuse, both physically and mentally. I was glad she had her friend Rachel, always there with a hug and some home truths. Ivy had grown immensely in the two books and even though she was a strong and independent lady, she became so much stronger after everything she had been through. Happy that Ivy and Genevieve were finally able to get over their hurtful past and maybe move forward as sisters. Her Mother though, glad she got what was coming to her. Oh flipping heck, Phoenix's secret- admittedly I was not expecting that to be it. I was convinced it was something to do with Hailey. Oh boy, was it a humdinger. They were both wrong and both right at the same time. I just loved Brock, he was one crazy guy, but underneath his brash exterior he was a real sweetie. Without giving anything away to either Phoenix & Ivy, he really had both their backs. Brock's opening night..... that was one very special evening, one very special art piece, and two very special people. Phoenix was a really sweet man, and even though he was a total jerk sometimes, his heart was always in the right place. The epilogue was really lovely.

What a great second book, loved it! We catch back up to Ivy and Phoenix after they have moved to and been living in New York for a few weeks. Ivy can tell Phoenix is hiding something, but she's waiting for him to tell her. Phoenix knows he should tell Ivy his secret but is afraid of the fall out. When the truth comes out, Ivy is crushed, not only by the secret, but by the fact that she's been lied to by the one person she thought was being honest with her. Is their relationship worth fighting for? Can Ivy not only forgive Phoenix, but learn to trust him again? This story documents the compromises and fragility of a relationship so well. Neither of these characters are perfect. They have flaws, cracks, yet in each other they see the person they want to be, the perfect representation of themselves. They ground each other and their relationship is truly beautiful. Ivy is so relate-able. She gets angry, and she holds onto that anger, to the point where it fuels her. Thankfully she has two great friends, Rachel her bestie, and Brock, the crazy and nutty artist in residence, to tune her in to what she's doing. I loved the imperfect sex scenes, the romantic dates, the significance of the paper cranes, and the art and how it paralleled the story. Most of all, it's the love between these two characters that makes this story. "We're both broken in so many ways, and yet we've found a way to mend ourselves together. And through that healing, his pieces and my pieces changed to our pieces and we're forever mixed. He's now as much a part of me as I am him." I will miss these characters because I love them both. Highly recommend!

She's lived her entire life being second best to her sister and almost non existent to her mother. Phoenix is completely devoted to her, but their connection is about to be rocked with secrets and lies. Ivy can't handle lies, especially coming from the one person who she has put her trust in - Phoenix. I loved how this book went further into these characters. I really enjoyed Phoenix in the first book, but in Love Abstract we get a better insight into him overall. He shows that he's vulnerable and has flaws. Ivy may have come across as cold initially to me earlier on, but now I get her. She has grown so much. There are further revelations that are exposed in Love Abstract that will continue to affect Ivy's strength and growth. This story really showcases the power and affect of someone believing in you. Phoenix and Ivy's relationship was somewhat addictive. I felt the insecurities, the love, the ups and downs, but mostly the passion between these two characters. There really is so much more story than can be conveyed in my review. The supporting characters and their stories were good, but I truly loved Brock! What an awesome person and support for Ivy. Overall this is a good read. There were a few parts that played out differently than I would have imagined, but did not take away from my enjoyment of the story as a whole.

Ok, I'm just gonna say it... I am in love with a fictional character and his name is Phoenix. lol. Love Nouveau, book #1 of this duet, was absolutely amazing. It is definitely on my list of top 10 books that I hold near and dear to my heart. And Love Abstract was a fantastic conclusion and definitely a 5 star read for me. But it was amazing and I am so glad that I stumbled upon this author's work. "Coffee understands me. It would never judge me... Coffee could quite possibly be, my best romantic prospect." "If you can't laugh a little during sex, you're doing it wrong. Or at least doing it with the wrong person." The last chapter of book and the epilogue are completely wonderful and made me cry so many happy tears and kicked me right in the feels. I just want to roll these parts up and keep them with me forever because they are so sweet and perfect and just give you hope about everything. It was beautiful to read a story about forgiveness and have flawed characters that f*!$ up and get through it. *sigh* So, go read this. If you loved the first book, you need this ending. You won't regret it. I absolutely cannot wait to read what BL Berry puts out next. "Love will win. When love is real, when it's true and unflappable and honest, it will always win."

I fell in love with "Love Nouveau" a few months ago, I kept hearing about it and while typically I don't go right out and buy the most buzzed about books right away because I like to hang back and read the reviews that come in after the book blogs and Facebook pages stop talking about a book. In all the best ways, in a blur of color and shapes and feelings and sounds you experience the magic that is the power of the written word. I lost myself in the pages and that was okay, because I was merely a part of it, a bystander almost. I had to have more! Picking up pretty close to the end of "Love Nouveau" we jump right back into Ivy and Phoenix's life together and it is a mash up of secrets and lies and it will gut you, like seriously gut you. You experience the highest of highs and the lowest of lows of their relationship and the ending will leave you with tear stains and a huge smile on your face! This is definitely one of the top reads of the year for me.

Absolutely stunning!! What can I say here? This book is nothing short of beautiful. It is art. It just took my heart for one heck of a ride. And my stomach, heart, and mind are still reeling and soaring. When I finished Love Nouveau I was seriously counting the months and stalking BL so I would know exactly when Love Abstract released.

Phoenix is harboring a secret that with Ivy's past could destroy them forever. She finds out after bullying it out of him and she throws him out. I was hoping her reaction would have been more mature but she reverted back to the old Ivy. I love Phoenix, he is definitely a top book boyfriend. I also loved Brock and Rachel. I hope they get their own books someday. Writing was great as always and the ending was perfect. Bravo BL.

And I loved that surprise idea Phoenix displayed for Ivy; it was thoughtful and sweet. Will be looking out for more future projects from Ms. Berry; she's a wonderful writer above anything else.

So I am hesitant to write this review. I absolutely fell in love with the characters in Love Nouveau and devoured that story. I was anxious to read the second book. Oh holy moly!!! This book!!! What an epic end to two of my favorite peoples love story! Ivy and Phoenix definitely stole my heart! There was pain, joy, love, and just so much more in this story! Refreshing read... I love B L Berry romances. The storyline, the dialogue is unpredictable. It's refreshing, like a great dish with familiar ingredients but updated to be more savory and spicy. Lastly, the book weaves in a lot of sage advice. I was initially unconvinced with Ivy's motivation for shutting out Phoenix, but I did get the internal warring of emotions of betrayal and hypocrisy. it just took me longer to get there.

I was anxiously waiting for this book for more Phoenix and Ivy and was so excited to read it! Phoenix and Ivy are officially together and trying to make things work. For me this book was about second chances, love and not being afraid to love completely. I just have to say that I adored the end of this book (Brock's show), I feel like it made it all come together!
