I’m very pleased that a book analyzing the work of Nicole Kidman exists. I quite enjoyed the Meryl Streep volume which contained mostly movies I’d never seen but had a cohesive thesis that moved me. In this volume, I found some of the writing bizarre, including an attempt to connect a film to the TV series “Fringe” (Which I love dearly). Nonetheless, I found the content interesting and worthwhile.

Well, I love Nicole Kidman so of course I'm going to give this at least 4 stars. The only thing that stopped me from giving it 5 stars: some of the pictures are blurry, they are enlarged but were not pixilated correctly, and not all of her filmography is covered. However, this is a great book to pick up- for those who love Kidman's movies or those who want to be actors. However, this is a great book to pick up- for those who love Kidman's movies or those who want to be actors. Nicole Kidman is "the" actor - not just an actress, or an actor on the screen, she is the epitome of what it means to create art that can resonate because Kidman has always put herself on the line when she creates. From literal physical pain to emotional ones, she takes on each character as she does with books - she disappears into them. This book delves into a lot of her work but there's a lot to cover. From iconic classics like "Moulin Rouge!", to hidden gems like "Birth", to films about what it even means to be human like "The Hours", I've never felt led astray in any work she does. And the work can be polarizing sometimes, it can push boundaries, it can disturb even, but with her impeccable skill, with other actors even on the same frame, when Kidman comes into view you feel more anchored, more willing to go where she's taking you as an actor because of her honesty in a performance. This book covers everything for the films it covers, and it's not exactly a tribute because it does cover some criticism, but it has a lot of photos, a lot of quotes from the actress herself and covers a lot of her films, so I consider this like a "Greatest Hits". Worth picking up. "I credit books with me becoming an actor. ..I couldn't wait...to pick up a novel and just disappear into it. And I was devastated when it ended." - Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman being one of my all-time favorite actresses, I was super excited to pick up this book! The author really dived into the 10 chosen films mentioned, talking about the process, plot, and the press surrounding it. I learned so much about Nicole and her work that I did not know before. I have not seen a lot of her early work, but this book has made me very interested to see those films.
