A well written first chapter in a military opera that I plan to keep reading. The main characters is well developed and interesting.

Technically Correct Historical Novella The major premise of this work is well conceived. The history involved is well researched. Technically correct, I have no complaints with the story itself. However, this work loses two stars because of incredibly shallow characterization. Most of the story is carried forward by exposition. Most of the dialogue is stilted and ineffectual. In short we learn little about the main protagonist to make us care about him. A Great Start Yes, I managed to read the series out of order but still find the group of novels truly enjoyable. Roger Maxim managed to give us a story about a talented Naval pilot in WW II. His flying experiences, his combat and leadership and even his nurse Rachel. Read all of the books, I highly recommend them.

Informative Short. One error in editing, referring to Captain Ahab as Captain Bligh, unfortunately took a little away from the authoritative voice of the narrator.

Very Good Read As the author pointed out in the preface of this book, other than the names of some of the notable figures in the war against the empire of Japan, all the characters in this story are fictitious. As a student of World War II, I believe that they could be true. I was just a bit annoyed at the obvious typos encountered, but the only mistake I found was a reference to a captain Bleig h who was obsessed with killing Moby Dock. As a student of World War II, I believe that they could be true. I was just a bit annoyed at the obvious typos encountered, but the only mistake I found was a reference to a captain Bleig h who was obsessed with killing Moby Dock. It was in fact Captain Ahab who was obsessed with killing Moby Dock, and Captain Bleigh was the captain who went up against Mr. Fletcher Christian in Mutiny on the Bounty. That fact aside, the story of Aluminum Rain held my interest from the first page to the last.
