To quote the main character in this book: “Why not?” It was free (I downloaded it from Amazon), I’ve never read anything on this genre and I felt like going wild (?) The book in itself is a quick read with more romance than erotica (which I am thankful for!) and with some family drama bringing the main characters together. My main issues with the story is that I felt Pilar kept saying A (“insert feminist-slash-self-sufficient woman thought) and wishing for B (insert housewife cliché) and the book kept going on and on between those poles and I got a bit irritated. I have no issue with a feminist character or a housewife either, but make up your damn mind, woman! Another thing that bugged me a bit was the fact that 89% of the book was builing up to two main conflicts that get solved magically over-night and the ending is basically a “buy my next novel” to find out more, something I don’t particularly appreciate in any book of any genre. Other than that, I found it interesting enough to keep me reading all the way till the end and I enjoyed digging in Benedict’s and Pilar’s past and their long-due love story (because that was as far from an affair as I am from being a good singer!)

I'm on a junk kick, so the standards are shifted accordingly. That said, this surprised me with its writing quality: I really enjoyed Pilar's voice (points for diversity, too) - she was clever, funny, realistic, and not overly dramatic. I also liked that the romance worked on realistic lines, and no one abandoned their life dreams for orgasms or anything. I'm on a junk kick, so the standards are shifted accordingly. But he has a hard time not wanting to be near her now that it is open season on their mutual attraction. He hopes 3 months will be enough to convince her. Wow, their first kiss is so hot and his growling so delish! This was a first read by this author and it was nicely written and hot.

I really enjoyed this book. The story pulled at my heart. Pilar took on raising her brother after her parents died. She worked hard as Benedict's assistant. Throughout the years she has felt like his charity case. He helped with the funeral, and arrangements after her parents died. He gave her a job so she could support her brother. He is HOT, but the two kept everything professional. Her little brother is about to graduate, and she wants to move away and do something on her own. When she turns I really enjoyed this book. When she turns in her 3 month notice she is shocked that her boss has wanted something more for a very long time. He just wouldn't cross the line's as long as they were working together. Now that she is leaving he talks her into a 3 month affair. Pilar has saved for years so her brother could go to college. The fights or should I say augments that went on between brother and sister felt real, you could feel the tension. She wanted the best for her brother. What she wanted, and what he wanted was very different. Not everyone goes to college. It doesn't mean that can't be successful. Pilar had to learn to accept her brother for who he was. This really was a excellent book. Pilar thought she failed her brother, but she didn't. All teenagers goes though a phase. This is one of those books that pulls at your heart. I loved the ending!

Their chemistry wasn't compelling and I felt like I was missing scenes that really established their history with each other, not just individually. It may also be due to the first person perspective, since I really wanted more from Benedict, especially since he's the strong, silent type. For a cowboy romance, there's not alot of time spent on the ranch, so if that's a draw, it's not really to be found here. It endd on a bit of a teaser for the next couple in the series, but I don't think I'll be in a rush to read it. For more reviews, visit

I even think it stated that Pilar quit in that novella and that Benedict was none to happy about. Understatement of the year because he was beyond not happy about as revealed in this story. So, I was very intrigued for multiple different reasons just with that tease alone. This story began exactly what was teased where Pilar after having worked and been in love with Benedict for the last five years decided to quit because she knew she would never move on if she didn’t leave him. The only catch was that she had to wait three more months until her brother graduated from high school before she could move and leave Benedict behind. As I stated above he was none to happy about it, I immediately could tell that he was already in love with Pilar with Pilar having no idea of that fact. It was just how he reacted in not the cool, calm way he was known for. He very much gave off the impression that he was going to do anything in his power to convince her to stay and be with him. What I liked though was that even though neither one knew the feelings of the other, they both had these unrequited feelings for one another. They both refused to breach that gap due to fear of rejection and hurt. So, even though they had an established friendship/work relationship and great rapport, there was still this underlying tension between them that gave off very much cat and mouse vibes. They had some great banter going on as well as some suggestive flirty that could be interpreted in an innocent way but also a not so innocent way, which was kind of fun to see as they played the game. Benedict really put out all the stops to make his intentions known with Pilar. He made his move with heated kiss and caresses and other naughty things that he had been yearning to do to her for years. Years of built up fantasies that he was playing out on the pages. He embraced it. He urged himself closer and closer to her with both words and touch. It just really deepened their relationship on the already established bond that they already had. I thought it was really good. Really sexy. And it was beautiful too with his tender touches and words. It was very clear even though they had some pretty steamy encounters together, it was done in a way that showed feelings were involved with every encounter they had. He showed her that this was more than just the physical for him. It went beyond that. He wanted her. He wanted that bond and closeness that he had been wanting for so long. It was just simple things that he would do like brush her jaw or gaze into her eyes. It always about him showing that he cared about her and wanted to make her feel good. It just made it so special and intimate. It truly was lovemaking in the purest sense. I loved that so much. It just made me really happy to see those sexy yet very intimate scenes throughout. There was nice build up between them, even though they did get physical in the story pretty quickly. However they did have five years of angst and anticipation between them, which came across beautifully on the pages. It just made what was happening more intense. It whetted the appetite as it built to their first kiss. It was the perfect amount of build. Not too short and not too long. It was really well done I thought. There was an interesting storyline with each of their brothers that were similar yet different. It made them being able to relate to one another. Also understand each other. The great thing was understand the mistakes the other made so they didn’t have to repeat that mistake with their respected sibling. Even though it did cause some conflict between them, it also brought them together. What he did in the end for her brothers was very lovely and sweet and just showed how much he cared about her. How considerate he could be with his thoughts only being of taking care of her and eliminating the stress and worries for her. That made me smile and swoon so much. Again it showed what a special relationship they truly had. This was a romance of pure love. That was so good. The only thing that really bothered me was the amount of times she kept saying that she couldn’t get deeper involved with him aside from physical because she only had three more months left with him. I know she was trying to convince herself not to get more involved with him, but it just made me want to shake her because she was already in love and no amount of her saying that was going to change that. I got tired of hearing that. Overall, I truly adored this story. It had great balance between the physical and emotional stuff between them, though they were very well interconnected. There was great respect in their relationship. They had a great friendship and working relationship. I loved the flirty banter and the rapport they had between them. The build up between them was really nice. I loved how Benedict went after Pilar with a vengeance after waiting five years, knowing he had no time to waste. He showed her such tenderness and respect with every encounter they had. He really just wanted to take care of her. It was in both a sweet and sexy way. It was just freaking adorable to see him do those things for her to show that he cared. It was amazing. I loved it so much. I loved their relationship/romance. It was just a really great read that I really throughly enjoyed. I have read three stories by this author, and i have to say that she knew how to get me. She has really impressed me as an author. Her stories were a lot sexier than I thought they were going to be yet they had great heart and intimacy to them that I really enjoyed seeing played out on the page. I really, really appreciated that because she nailed both aspects really well to make a complete and satisfying romance. She just hit all the write spots with her. I really enjoyed her writing and her storylines. It really makes me want to pick up her other books read them. I highly recommend giving this author try if you love passionate yet very intimate reads and love romance based on connections in every aspect of a romantic relationship. It will just hit you in write way if you give this author a try.

I really enjoyed this book. It was sweet, it was sexy, it was exciting and intriguing. The characters are realistic, the writing is excellent and the cover is amazing. I'm not going to lie. The cover was what attracted me to this book. The plot is also pretty great. In fact, I had forgotten that I requested this book and went looking all over for "the book where the girl falls in love with her sexy boss"(I was so glad when I realized it was on Netgalley). I am not sure how this book found me - was it the cover? Was it the blurb? Or maybe it was just the idea of a cowboy. I enjoyed this book. A quick read that kept my attention. Right amount of steam, just enough conflict and a few secondary characters that got me interested. I would love to read the next book - NOW! I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley and this is my honest review.

Loved the heroine in this, found the hero inscrutable to the point of frustration at times. And while I totally got his desire to fix the situation at the end, going behind her back to deal with it made me so mad. He's lucky she is a forgiving sort, because I think I would have told him to fuck off. As ever, though, Gen Turner writes good books. Her Billionaire Rancher Boss: A Cowboy of her Own Book 1 is by Genevive Turner. It is a good book and a good story. It is the start of a great series. Pilar Lopez has worked for years for Benedict Merrill. Before that, she had gone to school on a Merrill scholarship, and had worked for them during her college years. Pilar took the job as assistant to Benedict to be able to save money for college for her younger brother Javiar. She was worried about him now because he was not staying at home or coming home when he should and had not decided which college to apply to and time was running out. However, as soon as he graduated and decided on his college, Pilar was leaving Benedict Merrill and going back to school and then to find a job all on her own. Not that she didn’t like working for Benedict; but that she liked it a little too much or liked him a little too much. She knew however that he would never look at her like she wanted him to. Now she just has to gather the nerve to hand in her three-month resignation. Benedict Merrill was astounded when Pilar finally gave him her resignation. He did not want to accept it. If he did accept it, he would never see her again and he definitely wanted to do that. He had been in love with her since she started working for him but would never make a move against an employee without some kind of hint that it would be accepted. Pilar had never indicated she saw him as anything other than an employer. How was he to get her to stay with him?

The pain and emotional stress that some people experience due to circumstances way beyond their control are real, and these characters portrayal of such, also feels real. Pilar has done her best for her younger brother, raising him when their parents were tragically killed over five years ago and he was only thirteen. In her final week of exams in college when she received the phone call, she has tried, and with the help from her mothers' employer, was able to do all that was needed done. But she's tired of feeling like Benedicts' charity case, and wants to finish her own degree now that her brother is finished highschool and hopefully off to college. But, it would seem that nothing ever goes smooth like she would like it to, and her brother Javier, is doing his best to make sure of it. Not to mention that she has the serious hots for her boss, and has for quite some time. But she knows that she will have to keep those feelings buried, because he has never made her feel that there was even the slightest chance that he felt the same. Or does he? Great story well worth the read. Looking forward to reading more from Ms. Turner.

I was expecting a romance and instead it was more towards erotica that was still trying to have a plot. the characterizations were not very nuanced either - Benedict is kind of unyielding in all ways. Pilar is obstinate in her ideas about what path her younger brother should take; the younger brother is a teenager (aka, a jerk). Pilar wants to leave her hometown because... pretty unclear why she thinks this is a good idea, and yet she is extremely certain about it. not buying it. and the resolution feels too neat and tidy to be realistic.

I'm not too sure what to say about this one. It was short, sweet, and quick to the point. It took me less than a couple hours to get through. I think maybe it was the length of the book that leaves me feeling like not a whole lot happened. Based on the cover alone, I was expecting something a lot sexier than what I got. There wasn't anything wrong with the sex that was present, but I've read much better in other books. A great read This is Benedict and Pilar story a quick read if your looking for a short to read inbetween then this great. I did find in some places it dragged a little bit then soon picked up again for that reason I have it 4 stars would have been 5 if it didn't have those moments. Anyway Pilar is her little brothers guardian and has set her mind that she has to care for him the way her parents would want her to by going on what they wanted for her in the mean time she wants for her self too but A great read This is Benedict and Pilar story a quick read if your looking for a short to read inbetween then this great. I would recommend this to anyone that likes quick reads, but knowing there is another in the series

This was a freebie series starter, and I really liked it! Pilar gives her notice, and her boss takes that as his cue to tell her he's been in love with her for years. As Pilar does her best to finish raising her younger brother after their parents' deaths, she is finally ready to do something for herself. With plans to finish her degree and send her brother off to college wobbling, she appreciates Benedict stepping in to help out. Looking forward to the rest of the series!

The book opens with an interesting setup... Pilar raised her young brother for the last 5 years with the help of the job offered by Benedict, & has now decided to quit her job to do other things. However, Benedict doesn’t seem to be willing to accept her resignation... They end up deciding to have a private affair. Despite what they decide, they end up going out publicly together. There also isn’t much of an affair, though (they only get together a few times - at 60% of the book, they’d only foo The book opens with an interesting setup... This turned out to be a pretty good romance with enough spice in the bedroom to make it a hot story. Although the characters were well developed and believable, I still don't have a clue what the female main character looks like, build-wise or face. I do know that she's not tall and slender, like her bosses sister, while the male MC was described in almost too much detail. A light fun romantic read with a few quirks, but most enjoyable. DNF. This is the first time I've tried this author, not trying again. The heroine is a Latina wannabe with a mind that is 50% mashed potatoes and 50% sex. I'm instantly dumber for reading this book. When you get so many dud books in a row, you really just want to stop trying and go either reread an old favorite with a surefire guarantee or go watch a movies/series whatever. Life is weird how i seem to be falling consistently into dud books these days DNF. This is the first time I've tried this author, not trying again. I had a hard time getting into this story. I found it kind of disappointing. It had the emotions that you hope for in a story and potentially good main characters. BUT, I found that the main parts of the story were kind of shallow and somewhat buried under what seemed like erotica. Sure, there was tenderness and well written sex scenes but I like more story with my books. It was also somewhat predictable. I didn't hate it but I also didn't love it either. Poor storyline The storyline is poor. The characters two dimensional. Basically, Pilar is Benedict's Secretary and she fancies him like mad. So much so that she hands in her resignation with three months notice. Immediately they begin an affair. In between sex scenes there is a younger brother of Pilar refusing to go to college and family of Benedict's who he professes to care for deeply, but you only get to meet one. Story in a nutshell!
