I've only made the chocolate chocolate brownie cups they were great. She uses cocoa powder almost like a flour--one cup in that recipe alone. One day I'll get back to my fiction. The Brownie cups are still my favorite. The chocolate cake was really good--it's made with oat flour--but really good. The Pumpkin bars were good too but you could tell it a "diet" version. This is a neat little cookbook. My only complaint is that I wish there were more recipes and more photos of the final dish. Still and all, a nice little work! Up front, Devin Alexander makes clear the purpose of this book (Page vii): "[This book:] is not actually a diet in the sense of a follow-it-to-the-letter-type deprivation diet. It's a diet in the sense of a 'way of eating.' It's a life style that affords you (and has afforded me) tons of freedom." There are a number of cool features at the f This is a neat little cookbook. It's a diet in the sense of a 'way of eating.' It's a life style that affords you (and has afforded me) tons of freedom." There are a number of cool features at the front end of the book--as with many cookbooks. The principles of the author's plan are presented on pages 1-14. Other basics are provided as well. But, as always, it is the recipes that are at the heart of this book. Just a few examples to illustrate. . . . There are some nice veggie dishes at the end of the book, some of which are pretty similar to dishes that I already make (although her spices and herbs would add some additional taste to my recipes). Broccoli limone. I have a similar recipe, but one that calls for serving the broccoli cold; her recipe is served hot. Either way, sounds delicious. Another broccoli dish? Oven fried broccoli with parmesan. I aim to try this one in the next couple days (fresh broccoli is already in the refrigerator). Entrees? Spicy Szechuan Steal Salad. Looks yummy and sounds like a real treat. There is a recipe for marinara sauce that looks interesting--and different from how I make this. I am always looking for ways to fix pork tenderloin, which can be pretty bland if not cooked right. The recipe here calls for paprika, salty and pepper, onion powder, cayenne, olive oil, honey, and garlic. The rub looks like it would add some zest to the meat. The recipe is described well and looks quite doable (don't you hate cookbooks where many of the recipes are far too taxing?). All in all, a nice addition to my kitchen library.

Glancing through there's some good looking recipes, we'll see how practical they are! Ok so this lady is so like me...The only thing I have to complain about with her is she seems very single and doesn't want to be... she expresses that way more often than I'd like to hear. However her recipes are so practical, really, really ones I use. I looked through there and most the recipes she had I have recipe cards for only she made them with way less fat, calories, salt, sugar... I am definately buying Glancing through there's some good looking recipes, we'll see how practical they are! I am definately buying this book to replace some of my higher fat cookbooks. The recipes that I tried turned out just as promised decadent and my kids really enjoyed them. Thanks Devin!

I've been a fan of Devin Alexander's since I discovered her (late) on Discovery's "Healthy Decadence." However, trying the recipes from the show yielded a minority of "keeper" ones. This book is different. The majority are keepers and in fact, even more would be keepers, if I ate seafood. This is her best cookbook yet. HIGHLY recommend. I love Devin's recipes! I made several dishes from this cookbook that turned out amazing. The cream cheese frosting in here is to die for. I made it for a cookie decorating day at work and was passing around the recipe like it was a hot potato. Read it and eat! I love Devin's recipes! Some people may not include cook books as reading material, but I love to read and reread them. This one is especially good. Clear recipes, beautiful photos. Includes nutritional information about fat and sodium, etc. I copied some of the recipes and will put them to good use.

Yeah! What a great resources for healthy recipes that actually taste good and are foods you want to eat, plus no weird ingredients that you'll have to hunt down. Yeah!
