I am actually not a fan of soap operas, so this book wasn't my favorite, but there were a lot of good elements. Two words that describe this book for me would be angst and DRAMA. Both are very well done in this book. The drama is like a constant swirl. There are a lot of crazy things going on. I really liked Morgan and Declan together. They complimented each other well. Even though there was still angst and drama, it felt like a real part of their relationship. They definitely had a connection no matter what else was happening. I couldn't help but admire Declan and his sense of duty to his country and the events surrounding 9-11. He was a fantastic representation of the many men and women who gave so much for our country and our freedoms at that time. (and still do) It really leaves me so grateful for such brave people. Content: frequent mild swearing, profanity, implied sexual relations with no graphic details, sexual relations outside of committed relationship (cheating) with no details. PTSD, depression, death, stalking

I was amazed at how much heartfelt emotion really was contained in these words. Declan and Morgan have an insta-love, but that doesn't mean their connection is without problems. Their souls are so deeply connected and their love is so thorough and deep and that causes them both to find it within themselves to think more of the other person, than of themselves. Morgan doesn't want Declan to be deployed anymore than he wants to leave her, but he knows it's his duty and he can't live with himself if he doesn't go. When things don't turn out as expected, Declan comes home broken in more ways than one and can't burden Morgan with his issues. So he doesn't. And she has no idea he's alive. She's moved on with her life, but a piece of her heart just can't be given away again. Oh, the angst and emotion! I can't imagine making life changing decisions like Declan and Morgan have to make, but they do and I loved to follow them along in their journeys. Morgan is a very sweet, kind, and beautiful woman and the kind of person you can't help but like. Even in the midst of turmoil, she still cares about others. Declan has a little streak of something--rebelliousness, anger, stubbornness--but he, too, thinks of others and is a strong and courageous man. I love the way the story came together, but I wanted more. I think I was so engrossed in what was happening, that I wanted every little detail of their lives and I felt like some events and feelings were glossed over. The story is driven by emotion and romance, but I wanted the deeper feelings at times to really see how far they both come. There is a great element of light suspense throughout. I did find myself very involved and did enjoy it. Content: moderate language (a lot of 2 or 3 words, but not the most offensive); mild violence (non-graphic descriptions of war and aftereffects); mild-moderate romantic elements (kissing, fade-to-black bedroom scenes with no details, aside from kissing; flirting with cheating).

Mya O'Malley did a great job conveying the emotions for the MCs in this novel. Morgan is a fun, sweet and energetic elementary teacher. She longs for someone she can share her life with, someone who can love her fully and she can love in return, someone whom she can build her life with for the long term. Declan is a soldier who has had much loss in his life and wants to serve his country to help protect those he loves and the freedoms of this country. He also wants to find someone he can love and have a family with, someone who has the same dreams that he has. The novel opens on a very emotional scene and then flashes back to the past and the day that Morgan and Declan meet. I loved the scenes when they first meet each other, way cute. It is an insta-love story but was very sweet, and heartbreaking at moments. Morgan and Declan connect so fully to each other that when something tragic happens it tears their hearts in two. Can they ever find healing to what happened? Will Morgan ever be able to move on or will she end up living her life with regrets and wishing for what might have been? I did enjoy this novel for the most part but there were a couple things I had a hard time with. Part of those are more just my own beliefs so I know many won't be bothered by it. The angst in this story is very palpable and without giving away too much there's a character that I questioned and wasn't sure I would like. At first I did and felt sorry for that character but then little bits a pieces started to be revealed in the story that I realized my gut instincts to the character when they were first introduced were right. But it did give a good balance to the story and created some of the tension. As far as content and for me what I had a hard time with, although it was written very clean, the characters lived together before marriage(again it was clean and no graphic sex scenes). Also there are some aspects of cheating when characters are supposed to be committed. Some talk of PTSD and healing of characters who were in war and had sustained injuries. Overall the writing was well done and the storyline wove the many different emotions together very well. I loved the different characters and the developing relationships(not necessarily romantic relationships) between them. I will admit that I cried and was emotional reading about 9/11. I know we all have very strong memories about that day. Reading and thinking about those who helped and served at ground zero was very emotional to me. I also couldn't help thinking about all those lives taken too soon and the families and friends of the victims. Very emotional aspect of this novel. I think most anyone who enjoys an emotional read, a deep loving relationship between characters and some heartache, would enjoy this novel. It was very engaging and a little bit harder to put down as I was reading. I received an ARC from ebooks in exchange for an honest review. Happy Reading!!!

Wasted Time is a story about destiny, fate, and two lovers. Morgan and Declan met one day when Morgan was running late to her teaching job and she bumped into Declan who was in the school for a career day. Declan instantly caught Morgan’s attention like nobody else ever had. He was sexy, sweet, and she just knew he was the man for her. Declan also knew there was something different about Morgan. From the minute he bumped into her in the hallway, he knew he had to at least ask her out for coffee. Wasted Time is a story about destiny, fate, and two lovers. From the minute he bumped into her in the hallway, he knew he had to at least ask her out for coffee. After coffee, Morgan and Declan were hooked on each other. There was, however, a problem. Declan was a soldier at heart. He knew he was born to serve his country, which was why he enlisted to begin with. Nobody ever saw 9/11 coming, least of all Morgan and Declan. When Declan’s number got called, he had to go, it was who he was. After the regular phone calls and letters stopped, Morgan was crushed. She did everything in her power to find out what happened to Declan, but nobody had any answers for her. After years of grief, it was time for Morgan to move on. She met a wonderful man who truly loved her, Mike. Mike wanted to spend the rest of his life with Morgan, but felt she was holding something back from him. Elsewhere, Declan was recovering from war wounds. A terrible accident had left him without a leg and covered in terrible burns. That day he made the most difficult decision of his life. He didn’t want Morgan to give up her life taking care of him so he would let her believe he had died in action. For Declan, this pain was worse than his injuries. Will fate intervene and put Morgan and Declan back in a room together or will Morgan and Declan forever have to live with the decision Declan made? This book makes you feel love and hope and heartache. At some point you feel truly sorry for almost every character. The book does span an extensive amount of time and due to that, I felt like I missed some important events and when time picked back up I felt very much out of the loop.

Morgan knows she will love Declan no matter what happens, so before he gets deployed to Afghanistan, Morgan agrees to marry Declan. If only life were really that simple! I don’t want to give anything away, but this book really left me wondering what would happen to this couple! Morgan and Declan have been through hell and back but always loved one another. Is it enough to make a relationship last? Once trust is lost, can it be earned again? Seriously though, do yourself a favor and read this book. Mya O’Malley has quickly become one of my favorite authors and this book truly speaks to her diversity in story telling! I loved reading about Morgan and Declan and the lengths they go through to keep their love alive. This story almost brought me to tears a few times and to me, that’s a sign of a good book! I never expected anything less from Mya O’Malley though! She never disappoints! This is one of the happiest, saddest and most heart wrenching books I’ve read in a while, and in the best ways! Being able to draw such emotion is a true talent and Mya O’Malley has it in spades! Truly a treat to read! So, of course, I give “Wasted Time” FIVE stars! Honestly, couldn’t give Mya O’Malley anything less!

This isn't the first book from this author I've read, so I was ready to jump in to some sweet romance and great characters. However, this story just didn't work for me. For some reason the review I done disappeared, so I'll leave it again...as always with Mya's books you are left with a great story. This didn't disappoint. Two characters madly in love, torn apart, and brought back together again. The love and devotion between the characters was lovely. It showed that love isn't straight forward. I loved this book. Only one complaint I had with this book is that I wanted more.

I was given an ARC of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. I loved every single word of this book. Mya O'Malley has written a charming soldier love story loosely connected to 911 (there are no graphic images). This story flows so well, the characters are real and the suspense is thrilling. I wish I could give more than 5 stars! Put this on your TBR!

Morgan and Declan seem like such a perfect story of course everything goes wrong. Poor Morgan can't get over her one true love. I had a hard time finding any likability with Mike he seems nice enough but not amazing. I loved how much real emotion you could feel from all the characters. I loved that the story had me smiling and crying. This was one of those stories where i just wanted to keep reading so I could get to the end and see how things would finally work out. Eventually after 3 years she finally takes to plunge and starts a new relationship – but how can it work when her heart belongs to Declan. The first part of the book that made me cry was when Morgan and Declan said goodbye to each other. To know you may never see the love of your life again has got to be one of the hardest things and I think that the author captured this and wrote about it beautifully. In fact the whole story was beautifully and excellently written – it was emotional but still had a few unexpected twists that kept my interest until the very end. When Morgan realised that Declan wasn’t coming home my heart broke for her because it felt so real. I was grieving right alongside her. I have to admit there were a few times I felt like screaming at this book because in my head I knew what I wanted to happen but I have to say that the author did well to conceal that final twist right until the very end. Not only did Mya do a great job at creating emotion within this story but also the descriptive writing was great. I love it when I can picture exactly what I am reading. It’s a definite plus side to any story. I really enjoyed this story and give it 4 stars. Wasted Time by Mya O’Malley does contain moderate language, mild violence and some romantic elements. It does not contain any explicit scenes.

When all correspondence suddenly stops, Morgan fears the worst but Declan’s death during service is never confirmed. Declan was caught up in a bomb blast came out of it mentally scarred and with only one leg. After growing up with a mother that cared for his disabled father, he doesn’t want Morgan putting her life on hold to care for him so allows her to believe that he’s dead and makes no further contact. Morgan partially moves on with Mike who is a nice guy but isn’t Declan. Eventually Morgan and Declan meet again following his mother’s death and this starts their lengthy reuniting process. I really didn’t like this book and almost DNF a few times. I didn’t like the writing style and I found it quite immature and very unrealistic – the way fiends/lovers spoke to each other so formally just wasn’t believable to me at all. The other thing was how Mike’s personality kept changing from being a true gentleman to Morgan being afraid of him, to him clenching his fists to him begging her to come back etc – it was just so ridiculously far-fetched and again, unbelievable. And would someone just forgive and forget so easily after years of lies and no contact? She did have her uncertain moments though, I’ll give her that but even they weren’t believable! Not for me this one.

Left behind is his fiancée, Morgan Matthews. She tries desperately to understand his preoccupation and be supportive. Begging him to stay with her after he is called up to fight for his country, she reluctantly lets him go to war. When he disappears, Morgan is devastated. After frantically searching for him, she finally resigns herself to the fact that he is gone forever. Losing herself in helping her students, she valiantly tries to move on and escape his memory. Several years later Morgan is still torn between her desire to move forward with Mike and the memories of Declan and their love she cannot leave behind. The first part of this story is intriguing and the joy of Morgan and Declan’s budding romance is delightful. The dramatic reunion between Declan and Morgan erupts in fireworks halfway through the story. Boyfriend Mike develops into a sinister and frightful character, introducing an element of drama and danger. Thankfully this story ends with a satisfying and romantic ending. I was intrigued by the premise of this story. I enjoyed the drama and Declan’s recovery from the injuries he suffered in Afghanistan. The portrayal of his very human, fallible character is both sympathetic and heroic. This is an adult romance with possibly disturbing scenes of war, descriptions of the devastation of 9/11, and Mrs. Blake’s downward spiral into dementia. *I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Mentally and physically damaged,he makes a decision that alters not only his life but Morgan's as well. Wow...I don't even know how to put into words the emotions that I am feeling right now. Mya O’Malley did an amazing job with these characters and writing such a fantastic book. As a New Yorker, 9/11 affected me personally and I have to say that she did this story with class and portrayed the exact feelings and emotions we all felt that day. Declan and Morgan’s story was heart wrenchingly beautiful. This book will stay with me for a long time!

How they met when Morgan a PreK teacher bumped into him while trying to get to class on time. Their first date. The aftermath of 9/11 and how it has haunted Declan who was there looking for survivors. The day he proposes to her.  Declan gets a call to go to Afghanistan. Initially Morgan is angered but then understands. Soon Declan leaves. Initially Declan writes and calls but after a while the calls and letters stop. Morgan tries to contact the base he was at, but because she isnt family they wont tell her anything, even if they were to be married when he returns. Months go by and still nothing. Elle, Morgana friends, tells her to talk to someone which Morgan agrees to do. Fast forwarding three years, Morgan is now with a guy named Mike but still dreaming of Declan. Will Morgan let Declan go and find happiness with Mike or will the two former lovers be reunited again? I am starting to love military romances stories and this one is no expection. This story had be hooked from the prologue. I loved the writing. It had an easy flow. I even loved the raw emotions of Morgan after the letters stopped. Their relationship, the start and everything in between was beautiful. Definitely a must read.

They go out for coffee and talk for hours, where the connection and chemistry is constantly flowing. Declan knows right then and there that he has met someone so special and she could possibly be his forever. “A body slammed into her, causing her books and papers to scatter across the floor. Irritation coursed through her until she glanced up to see the person who had knocked into her. A pair of piercing dark blue eyes met here and she stood as if transfixed. Neither spoke for a brief moment until the man cleared his throat breaking the silence.” Then tragedy strikes when the United States gets attacked on September 11th. With Declan being in the National Guard he is compelled to fight for his country. Little did Declan and Morgan know the war on terrorism was going to change their future and their relationship. Mya O’Malley did a fantastic job with her novel. She had me from the beginning. I was able to feel everything Declan and Morgan felt and went through. I laughed, cried and got frustrated at times. I have never read such an amazing story about love and what people will do to keep that love. Wasted Time was so beautifully written and I cannot wait to read more from Mya O’Malley.

I felt like this book had so much potential and I love all things military, but I just didn’t prefer the story. Way too much drama and miscommunications. Mike, a pretty stand up trustworthy guy has helped to mend Morgan’s broken heart and show her that she can love again. There is nothing like not having a great support system when someone is dealing with a loved one who is deployed. How do I know? I was once that girl. Mya O’Malley literally put raw emotions into these characters. This story was so real! It made me laugh, smile, nostalgic, sad, angry and ecstatic. This novel is a page turner and that you do not want to end. You cannot help but to fall in love with Delcan and Morgan. Mya opens the reader’s eyes to what it is like to live with guilt and grief but also how to overcome them. I applaud this author and it would be truly amazing to see these characters come to life on the screen.

Remember that Nicholas Sparks novel “Dear John”? Well this is a grown up version of that. Here’s the rundown: Morgan and Declan meet, Declan goes to war, Morgan loses Declan. Declan doesn’t want to burden her, and they both move on with their lives. But I guess that the path to true love isn’t always straight. I really want to stress that I enjoyed this novel, but I find it hard to orientate myself in it - I don’t know what decisions I’d make in either of the characters’ circumstances. I so much appreciated reading about a romance that wasn’t squeaky clean - Morgan and Declan had their issues, but always worked together to get over the hurdles. I can’t help but feel short-changed about some aspects - the reunion was built up and had so much tension and emotion behind it, but I didn’t see it as a turning point. This is a very fast-paced and immersive story, and it will definitely stay with me. Get “Wasted Time” by Mya O’Malley: https://www.amazon.com.au/Wasted-Time... I received this book for an honest review. I want to give this book 3.5 stars to almost 4 stars. The beginning of the book was a little confusing because of the time change between now and then. I also was not a fan of the total instant love between Declan and Morgan. Maybe they were soul mates but just bumping into each in the hall and having that connection was a bit too much. However, with all that being said I ended up really liking the book. I was allured by Declan and his sense for loyalty to his county and his selflessness. I did like the connection and chemistry between Declan and Morgan even with the instalove. I was amazed how Mya O'Malley had so many twists and turns in this book that you weren't really sure how the book would end (which I totally loved how it ended). I hope that there is a future story about Declan and some of the other characters in the book. There are a lot of emotions that are felt while reading this story of hope and heartache. I did feel connected with the characters and could see the story as I was reading it. I think this book could totally be a Hallmark or Lifetime movie. I would totally watch it!

They are caught up in a fairytale romance until an act of terrorism occurs, and Declan is called to duty in Afghanistan. He feels honor-bound to serve, despite an ailing mother and heartbroken Morgan. War claims Declan, or so Morgan believes, and she never fully recovers from this heartbreak. However, she eventually finds healing in the arms of Mike, and agrees to marry him. But the plot thickens, and with twists and additional characters, the story is more captivating with every turn of the page. Wasted Time is a love story that proves the path to true love is not always easy and must sometimes be guided by forces stronger than ourselves. If you like wholesome romance novels, then you will not be wasting time reading this book, but rather be swept away by O'Malley's tale. In my ARC, which is marked as such, there are a couple of typos/editing issues; however, they are very minor, and may have been revised before release.
