This was another interesting book in the trilogy of natural cataclysms of Jamaica. Nain is a Jamaican town and it is ruthlessly stricken by a severe drought. In the story, five children try to do their part to overcome the drought, since they know that their parents are severely afflicted and worried because of its consequences. This is an interesting children's book from a cultural point of view. We read about food, local lore and the wisdom that comes with age and the respect for the elders. This is an interesting children's book from a cultural point of view. We read about food, local lore and the wisdom that comes with age and the respect for the elders. We also learn about the hardships of what it means to go through a drought, in a place where agriculture is the main source of income and sustain, and how a community can survive (almost) anything by sticking together and helping each other.
