Emerging readers love the Fly Guy stories, but who knew the buzzard had dipped into non-fiction? With the Fly Guy Presents series, topics such as space and insects are covered. In this installment, the White House is the focal point. The White House just happens to be one of my favorite things! This early reader gives a run-down of fun facts, including a brief history of the White House and its various residents. Love the full-color photographs throughout. It would be great for a text feature hu Emerging readers love the Fly Guy stories, but who knew the buzzard had dipped into non-fiction? Fly Guy and Buzz are in Washington, D. C. to tour the White House where the President lives. While I have never toured the White House but have read things about it, I learned so much more in this book. It was interesting to see the blue print of it and have the rooms described. I liked that the office part was explained on how the West Wing and the Oval Office came to be. It was also interesting to see the private rooms for the use of the President and his guests. I also enjoyed the portraits of Fly Guy and Buzz are in Washington, D. C. to tour the White House where the President lives. The non-fiction Fly Guy books offer great information with the humor of Fly Guy added in. The White House version is full of interesting information about the past and present in the White House, including animals that have lived there, how it was designed, and details about rooms contained in the building. Many text features offer a good way to increase understanding and keep students engaged!

What a great way to talk about Presidents Day! We used this text to talk about the White House, where the presidents live! The story talks more about presidents than about the White House, which was perfect! It was a very long book for kindergarten, but the students loved it. I think it could be used in higher grades, too!

Good Level 2 reader for kids. Lots of concepts and words introduced, but the book takes time to explain each and every one in relate-able language for younger readers. I even learned a thing or two about the White House!

Informative and entertaining--a terrific tool for introducing readers to nonfiction text without the fear of "information overload." Surprisingly detailed and comprehensive for such a brief publication.

It goes without saying that young children may find themselves more exposed to presidential politics than in previous years and this entry in the Fly Guy Presents series may be just the thing to provide a fun, kid-friendly introduction to the White House and the presidents who have called it home.
