My only criticism if any is that this book does end with a cliffhanger. The next and final book is set to release on March 29th. If you like dark books, broken sexy to die for heroes, please try this story out because not meeting Warren “War” McPherson is simply a travesty! The story starts with a heart pounding opening as our heroine, Baylee, a high school senior who is get this… is kidnapped in her own home and right in front her boyfriend by someone she actually knows! ”This can’t be happening. Not to me.” K. Webster sure knows how to shock and grab a reader from the first pages. Baylee is taken by a family friend who has some very big plans for our heroine. [image error] ”I need the money. But once I get it, I’ll get her back. Baylee may be a pawn but eventually I will take back what belongs to me. And she does.” During the course of training Baylee for sale, Gabe definitely pushed this reader’s level of being grossed out. I swear that I will never eat another cucumber again! When the time comes to sell Baylee she is terrified that the odds on being bought by someone even worse than Gabe is a real possibility. ”He’s the monster in my life – but he’s the one I know – the one I’m familiar with.” The auction is held and Baylee goes for millions and a reader finally gets to meet War… ”With a flourish of his large hand – a hand that has brought me to innumerable orgasms – he gestures inside of the limo. “This is War, baby.” Baylee finds herself now owned by a gorgeous rich young man who has a slew of mental issues and is in a prison of his fears and obsessions. I simply loved everything single thing about War. His obsessions and his fears just break a reader’s heart and his POV is realistically and perfectly done. ”Are you going to hurt me?” Her hands tremble when my gaze falls to them, she forces them to stop. I frown. “I hope not.” ”Stay in the moment, War. Kiss her. Kiss her. Kiss her.” War and Baylee made an odd match at first but overtime they share something so very special. This story does end on a terrifying cliff and so brace my friends because book two can’t get her soon enough along with so many answers and of course my War! Thereafter, she is sold for $5m to a young male (War), who REALLY believes he was NOT purchasing a slave because, well, don't women usually dress up in the middle of the night to strut on a stage while men bid for them? So, I, being the helpful person that I am, will try to reason with the protags: *War* "Errrr.... War, this is wrong” "No, seriously Bibi, I thought I was donating to a noble cause" "Errr War, how do you explain the scared, handcuffed, female?" "But...but....isn't she meant as a gift?" "No War, she was not because, well, you sorta paid for her to be your "companion" and she sort of is being held hostage in your house" War: "But...but....why are you saying this Bibi, can't you see how panty-dropping-gorgeous I am? Huh? How can someone as scintillating hot, as I, be wrong for buying a companion? Huh? Care to explain that? Huh?" Bibi:"Well, see 'ere War, you done gone commit a felony 'cause right here in the good ole US of A, human beings cannot be sold. Heck, everybody knows that, where you been hiding? Under a rock?" War:"But....but, I love her and I will save her and love her. I mean, have you not seen my panty-dropping face and lean-mean hot [email protected]%& body? Huh, huh?" Bibi:"Well then, Ima moosey on along "cause this right here ain't right. Cain't you see that Son? This 'ere ain't right". Ima jes take this lil ole gal back to 'er Mom n Pop 'kay? I ain't fixing for no fight" Okay, lil lady les moosey on". *Baylee* "But, Bibi, I don't wanna leave War. Can't you see how hot and panty-dropping-delicious he is? Huh? He is so swoony and surely, someone so swoony can't be that bad? "So what if he paid $5m to buy me? I mean, yes, he could have just gone out on dates to meet a woman/companion and yes, he probably could have tried meeting women that are actually not minors..but it's all good because he's rich, hot, swoony (did I say swoony already?) and panty-droppingly gorgeous..... So, I will have to respectfully ask you to mind your own business and leave us alone to bask in our "Love". Okay, buster?" ****** And that, readers, is the whole plot. Beginning, middle and ending. So, respectfully, this here, is one fu%@-up book. With all due respect.

5 Stars!! Wowza…what an intriguing, consuming book! Oh my…this author surprised me in such a good way. “This is War, Baby” was in a way...like any another dark book I’ve read before. Wowza…what an intriguing, consuming book! Oh my…this author surprised me in such a good way. “This is War, Baby” was in a way...like any another dark book I’ve read before. Not only for the fact that it’s starts with a bang, and dayum what bang, but it left me with my mouth hanging open so many [email protected] times. Once I’ve read the prologue I knew I will love this book and I knew it will be as captivating as its title. And trust me it was! I couldn’t put it down! It was dark, twisted even disturbing at times, but it also was sweet and sexy. “Sometimes, sweetheart, you have to make sacrifices. You, doll, are a sacrifice. Your part is small, but it is so significant.” Our heroine, Baylee is a seventeen year old high school student whose life is changed irrevocably when she is kidnapped in her own home. Her kidnapper is a man she has known for years, a man she trusted and secretly lusted over. He wants her for himself, but he wants money more. This man has ‘big plans’ for Baylee. He will train her for two weeks than he will sell her to the highest bidder. “I like ‘em dirty. And you’re as dirty as they come. Soon, you’ll be just as dirty on the inside,” he murmurs against the shell of my ear, sending goosebumps over my flesh. “You’ll like it too. In fact, you’ll love it. One day you will thank me.” Baylee knows everything could change for her, but she can’t do nothing about but accept her new life. She is bought by a mysterious 28 years old man, War. Her new captor is rich, gorgeous, but so tortured. His fears and obsessions shock Baylee, but soon she realizes that he’s nothing like her first captor. “She is to be my reprieve from the darkness that ebbs and flows inside me—always threatening to swallow me up.” I loved every single thing about this book. The writing was captivating, the storyline exciting and all three main characters were complex and so well developed. This story was pure and simple refreshing and so addictive. If you enjoy them dark and twisted, then “This is War, Baby” is the book for you. The story has many twist and turns that for sure will keep you at the edge of your seat, but also some scenes that will offend you for sure, leave you disturbed and make you cringe. All three characters were interesting, well developed and complex. Baylee was a great heroine. She is strong, smart, wise beyond her years and also thoughtful, caring and patient. Baylee’s first captor was such a sick [email protected] the author did a great job portraying his character. “Your light is already seeping into the dark parts of my soul and I’m not about to let that slip away for a second. (…)I know I can’t live without that light.” One of my favorite aspect of the story was War. War was…something else. He was like nothing I had expected and honestly like any captor I’ve read before. He was an endearing character from the very beginning, not only because he’s not a sadistic [email protected], but because of his personality. I’m pretty sure War will win you over from the moment you’ll meet him. “For some reason, I don’t obsess over numbers and germs and patterns. Each time you open your mouth, I’m fixated on your words. I’m drawn to the way you say them. When I’m around you, I don’t obsess over my problems because I obsess over you.” His past and his….condition broke my heart. Poor War! He was portrayed in such a realistic way. I loved the fact he was so…different and I absolutely loved his POV. The way he feels for Baylee was sweeeeet, heartwarming and I totally loved them together. Baylee really was the perfect match for War. The story ends with a huge cliffhanger. OMG…and I’m dying to read the next book! Overall, this was a very thrilling read, really well written and I highly recommend to anyone who loves dark and twisted tales.

She's forced to endure things that nobody should have to. Overnight, she goes from regular teenage girl to sex slave. When her captor, Gabe, puts her up for sale at an illegal auction, Baylee comes face to face with men more depraved than she could have ever imagined. The prospect of being sold to one of them terrifies her more than the thought of returning home with Gabe. Nonetheless, she is sold to the highest bidder. Baylee's new owner, War, is an absolutely incredible character. I loved every minute of this story told from his POV. The way his mind worked was amazing and so completely fucked up! The author really did a great job of letting the reader inside his head. Despite all of the abnormalities in a his thought patterns, I felt a connection to him right away. Similarly, Baylee was a character that I connected with easily. Although I didn't understand how she could just "roll" with some of the things that took place, I appreciate that everyone handles things differently. Until you're in that situation, you don't really know what you'd do. I don't want to give too much away, but I will say that the story almost feels like 2-3 stories. This isn't due to lengthiness, but rather the fact that there are 2-3 major "mood" shifts. The author breaks the book into Parts, which I think worked quite well in this case. The story begins sweetly, but quickly shifts into a very dark, erotic story. Then, the story takes on a sweet and heartwarming feel. Lastly, the book ends with a huge, suspenseful cliffhanger. Again, I don't want to say too much. Just know that this one blew my mind! Yes, I guessed many of the things that happened. However, the story didn't go where I thought it would in the very beginning, so there were some surprises. The characters were fabulous and the writing was impeccable. I loved this story and jumped right into the next one.

Seventeen year old Baylee is ready to go all the way with her boyfriend. Right as they are getting all freaky though, she is lying there dreaming about her dad's best friend. Who also happens to be her neighbor Gabe. Gabe breaks in as they are in the middle of it and kidnaps Baylee. Turns out Gabe is going to sale Baylee in the white market of sex slavery. But first he has to "train" her. This includes raping her, anal, and something with a cucumber that needs to be swiped from my memory. But first he has to "train" her. This includes raping her, anal, and something with a cucumber that needs to be swiped from my memory. He tells Baylee how much he loves her. Sounds legit doesn't it? Baylee is feeling guilty because she likes some of the things he does to her. She never really tries to kill his stupid ass or escape. Then Gabe takes her to the sale, he tells her not to worry-he just needs the money but he will come for her. He loooooovves her. She gets sold for five million dollars. For reals. She thinks after Gabe's tutoring that she is in for someone to beat, rape and kill her. (This made no damn sense to me-pay five million dollars and then this) She lucks out sorta, her buyer is War. Who has some major problems. I kind of saw War as a cross between these guys. I know that she chews every bite of food almost nearly the same amount each time. Twenty-six. Twenty-six chews. I also know that she blinks twenty-four thousand four hundred eighty times a day. Seventeen blinks per minute. Of course, Baylee is the girl with the golden whoo-ha and War falls all in love with her. He is sending her parents (who freaking never even reported her missing) money to help out with her mom's surgery and illness. Gabe is probably still looking for her though so she must not leave the house or give any hints to them via email. Now I admit. I'm not the best reader of the smexy books..but dang. This was whacked out. The chick is seventeen and I recently read a book that had a seventeen year old sleeping with an old guy and the reviews were all pissed off about it. (I could care less-because #censorshipsucks) They even got the dang thing pulled from sale at that big place. But this one?? Has an average rating of 4.33 stars. I will admit that War waited until she was of age..but pervy Gabe didn't. I don't understand. PS> I know I'm offensive and shit. SO save your typing fingers on telling me how I read this book wrong. I do try to please. Booksource: Netgalley in exchange for review. Normally here I would feature a raving five star review to show how badly I read this one wrong. I'm not doing it this time. Frigging cucumber. I'm featuring my buddy La-Lionne's review she liked this crap-shot even less than I did.

Gabe wants Baylee, but he also wants money - so he will train her, then she will be sold. 2 weeks. That is how long her training will last. This aspect of the story won't be for everyone - there are parts that are extremely difficult to read, and Baylee did seem a bit amenable, but it didn't bother me too much. But, seriously. I will never look at a cucumber again without shuddering again. Now, on to what made this story for me - WAR. What a fanfuckintastic character. Complex, quirky, and unique. I loved this beautiful, broken man. When Baylee is sold, her owner is not what she was expecting. Meeting War, has Baylee's mind spinning - he is a strange one. War struggles to escape the confines of his mind, and he sees Baylee as chance to find some peace. These two were adorable to me, I loved them together. The showers, the towels, the counting, the chess games- so much awkward cuteness - they were perfect. Be warned, though, the ending....OMG. Way to leave me hanging K Webster! The cliffy is huge! But, lucky for me, the next book is set to release by the end of March.

This is War, Baby is the 1st book in the War & Peace series and I found it to be a pretty good read. I went into this read with really high expectations. The plot sounded so good. Almost all my friends loved it. It's got tons of great reviews. So when I finished it and didn't flat out love it..... I felt left out! I wanted to love it like all my friends but sadly I didn't. “I like ‘em dirty. And you’re as dirty as they come. Soon, you’ll be just as dirty on the inside,” -Gabe Your light is already seeping into the dark parts of my soul and I'm not about to let that slip away for a second."-War I think one of the problems I had with this book was the start. I didn't get to warm up and connect to Baylee before she was kidnapped and the dark stuff started. I did slowly warm to Baylee though. I felt badly for all the things Gabe put Baylee through. I totally got her fear and confusion. What I didn't get was her body enjoying her rape. I felt the whole "my traitorous body" thing going on with Baylee and Gabe just took away from the darkness of the rape. And it threw me out of the element. Gabe was raping a 17 year old. So I didn't want no "It's kinda okay and not all the way rape(dubious consent) cause I kinda liked it a little. Damn my stupid traitorous body!" thing. Gabe was a great villain. OMG he was a twisted, depraved, sadist, disgusting pos. He oozed evil, and his crazy really came through the pages. Which is what you want in a dark romance. War was different for me. OCD, PTSD, and I felt his metal struggles. He had some major issues but he felt real. He was a good hero. I really love a damaged hero. War gave me that in spades. I really really liked War! He really gave this book depth! “For some reason, I don’t obsess over numbers and germs and patterns. Each time you open your mouth, I’m fixated on your words. I’m drawn to the way you say them. When I’m around you, I don’t obsess over my problems because I obsess over you.”-War "Because the Queen always protects the king." And then she whispers the last part. "Even from himself."-Baylee I really enjoyed the build up of War and Bay's relationship. It didn't happen over night but it was a slow burn love. They start to heal each other and bring happiness to each other. I really didn't understand what was going on with Baylee's parents. I am dying to know why they didn't report their child missing. So many unanswered questions! I have to be honest and say that this book wasn't as dark and I thought it was going to be. However I want to take a second to give a warning this book has some triggers that may bother some readers. This is War has *Rape of a 17 year old, Kidnapping, being sold into sexual slavery, abuse, being held prisoner, and beatings.* All that being said the ending....OMG the cliffhanger ending had me flippin' out. How could the author end things like that. Of course now I will have to read the next book because no way can I leave things the way they are. I need War and Bay to have their Hea and I need to see Gabe suffer, cause I hated that bastard! "Sometimes, sweetheart, you have to make sacrifices. You, doll, are a sacrifice. Your part is small, but it is so significant."-Gabe “After the hell I’ve endured over the past few days, this is heaven. The devil is my savior.”-Baylee http://jessicasoverthetopbookobsessio...

She recognizes his voice, she's even fantasied about him.. I have fantasized about this guy, dreamed about him touching me. I have hungered for his eyes on my naked skin. Imagined his mouth on my breasts. Taken by force..Innocence stolen.. He stole me. He is a monster. And I’ll do well to remember that. The isn't the first time he's done this to unsuspecting female victims.. The devil is my savior. He's trained her to accept all things sexual, no hole is off limits, his training is brutal, unforgiving and painful to read..Humiliation and violence go hand in hand.. I'm going to teach you to enjoy sex-all the dark and dirty parts. So when they do take you, you'll like it. Your body will respond and you'll survive. Frozen cucumbers. Butt plugs. His large fingers probing and stretching every hole in my body. Push through the darkness because once she's sold it turns into the most beautiful story that will have your heart melting.. Up for auction to the highest bidder This is where WAR comes into the story, who attended the auction thinking he was buying a companion, not knowing it was where kidnapped, slaves were auctioned. Brought for the sum of five million dollars. I've been BOUGHT by a LUNATIC..A CRAZY, freaking MADMAN. PAST WAR “I was tainted. With her blood. Their blood. And the disease of my despair. There was no cleansing something so tainted. This was who I was now. This was War.” War is beautifully broken, a prisoner in his own head, he fights his demons every second, every minute, every hour of the day, he's complex, he has so many issues that hinder his life, but dig deeper under all his OCD layers and you will find just like me that there is a beautiful misunderstood man under all his layers..I loved all that made up this complex man.. This is normal. This is who he is. This is War. I count every second. Every minute. Every breath. The average adult breathes twelve to eighteen breaths per minute. I breathe twenty-two breaths per minute. Always. No variation. MY THOUGHTS I really don't know what to make of this book, the first part is definitely dark, gritty, sick and twisted and will leave your stomach in knots over how sick it actually is..My mind is in turmoil because I wasn't really prepared to take this twisted journey, I kind of thought it would run in the lines of Pepper Winters book "Tears of Tess" f*ck me how wrong was I..This has had me shudder on more than one occasion and the word WTF has been uttered more than I can recall.. Do not go into this book blind or with assumptions that it's not going to be dark enough for you, because believe me it does go there and it goes there in vast detail it's not just skimmed over.. So please heed that warning it's in place for a reason, will this take you out of your comfort zone HELL YES!! It is not for the faint of heart. It will leave you feeling dirty and disgusted and questioning your own sanity if you ended up loving it.. So grab that torch and prepare yourself for one f*cked up ride Damn I need the next book!! GAH!!

I tried to finish this book, I really did, but my lord the amount of BS that is this book... I just couldn't, life is too short and all that. ***WARNING SPOILERS*** Let's not suggar coat things and call them what they are, this book is porn on a darker side and a badly written one at that. The book starts with heroine having sex with her boyfriend and internally whining about him not being able to get her off. So while their at it, she is fantasizing about her father's friend who's been acting weird around her ever since she became a teenager. But wait, her boyfriend is getting close, she thinks he foundt the magic spot, she's almost there! Then she sees a dark figure in the room with a skee mask and is ripped off of her bed away from her boyfriend. Damn it, he was so close! Next thing you know, she's in some hole naked and starved for days, hours, months (?). Guess who kidnapped her? No, seriously guess! I give you a minute... Yes, you guessed it right! Sorry, no price for you Sherlock, author made it way too easy. Of course it's her daddy's friend. Escaping Paradise and Devil's Pawn came imediatly to my mind (hated both of those books) and *poof* with that went the idea that this book will have an original plot. He is as brutal as psychopaths come. He rough handles her, uses and abuses her. But damn it, even though she hates him, he gets her off. Two weeks go by and it's time for her to be sold in an auction, because she has been such a good slave, learned so much and is ready. She is bought by a man for quite a sum, 5 mil to be exact. And here comes the twist that I didn't see it coming -> she is bought by some rich, extreme germaphobe refuse to touch anything (she's made to wear a mask and gloves before getting in his car). Here is where things go from annoying, to confusing and then laughable. The man that bought her, in a slave auction on a dark market, is only looking for a companionship. He doesn't want sex, nor a relationship, simply companionship. Come again, motherf*cker?! Have you ever heard of Match.com or Craigslist? What is this bullshit? Don't tell me you simply stumbled on a website that happen to sell a human flesh, while looking to buy a hand sanitizer? He pays a 5 000 000 dollars for a slave on a dark market for a fucking companionship??? They do some more heart to heart talk and as he learns more about what happened to her (even though he bought her at the slave auction somehow he is shocked, shocked I tell you, that she was abused), he is ready to kill the motherfucker that he bought her from for what he did to her. You're about 40% in and here is where author throws in "romance" and character development. They talk about their pasts, about who they are and who they want to be. He, the good guy that he is, promises not to touch her before she is eighteen. Um... *taps the dude on the shoulder* are you just going to quit being germaphobe when she turns 18? I couldn't care less to read further and find out how she cured his phobia. I'm guessing with her magical vagina that glows and plays music when she opens her legs. I really tried to finish it, but I just couldn't take anymore of this nonsense. *** Update 1. I've been procrastinating quite a bit lately and that's why I ended up reading this book. Holy shit this book is all over the place. Right of the bat you see that the author's thoughts are all over the fucking place. I'm only at 40% and already have a strong urge to just DNF and be done with it, but I want to see how it ends. At this point, only for shits and giggles. Will post full a review after I'm done with it.

The one who has captured her is deprived and has done a number on her, while preparing her for her buyer, since she knows that soon enough she will be sold to another sick monster. And that's when War comes into the picture. What happens next is a whole different story and I'd rather not say much further. I think it's one of the stories that you should go blind. Because the twists that are being offered are so much pleasurable. So go blind, keep an open mind and just enjoy the ride. Part1 wasn't pleasant for me and the things she endured were just ugly. And I will never see cucumber the same way again. I think I'm hunted by this visual and I will react like War did.. I wasn't impressed with Bay. I thought her thoughts were all over the place. I kept feeling like a tennis ball going back and forth, trying to understand her feelings or actions. Also, I have to admit that I didn't like Gabe at all. I kept thinking that if he's the one I am supposed to root for, I won't like this book, because I just wanted him dead. In the most tortured way. This is War, Baby was such a compelling story since the first pages of the prologue. A rollercoaster of emotions and kept me on my toes the whole time. I seriously enjoyed it, even though my heart was beating uncontrollably. The moment Warren entered the picture, I felt such a big relief and held my hopes over him. Let me say I wasn't disappointed. I'd rather his fucked up mind over Gabe's any moment. What can I say? I have a thing for troubled heroes ;) As for the ending, such a cruel ending to leave us hanging like that until the next instalment. I thought it was a standalone and hadn't needed to stress about an evil cliffhanger, but here I am bitting my nails and rocking back and forth ready to have all my questions answered like right now!! Overall, if you enjoy dark romance then you need to meet War, ladies & gentlemen. Pick up the book and give it a chance. :) ARC was kindly provided in exchange for an honest review.

Wow, it's been a while since I've read a book that's similar to Beneath the burn. So, it's safe to say that I freaking looooved it!!! I love the raw and gritty and filthy stuff that the author throws at our 'innocent' minds. This is not a light-hearted read and it's definitely not for everyone. This story is devided in two main parts but for me there Wow, it's been a while since I've read a book that's similar to Beneath the burn. So, it's safe to say that I freaking looooved it!!! If you don't like sexual and psyhical abuse, humiliation and above all enslavement, then please move on. The rest of you perverted minds, welcome! This story is devided in two main parts but for me there were three. First we get to see a glimpse of Baylee as the normal teenager with a normal boyfriend Brandon. Then the story transitions to where she gets taken by Gabe and is then trained to become a mindless sexual slave. In the final and my favourite part we get to see her being bought by Warren (War). And all this time, beneath the jokes and friendly façade was a demon from hell waiting in the shadows for the perfect opportunity to take what wasn’t his. Let me just say that I loathe Gabe! He's a true monster, a sociopath, sadist and a slave trader. His MO is to kidnap young women and then break their spirits only to train and turn them into sexual slaves that would literally do anything and I mean anything their new master comands them to do. But his only weaknes is his neaghbour's daughter Baylee. Over the years he became completely obsessed with her and views her as his. He still intents to sell her but he's determined to get her back later at any costs. I’ve been here forever. Hours or days or months—my mind is on a black, endless terrifying reel. I’m in an eternal, dark hell. With nothing but the blackness and insanity slowly seeping through the cracks of my soul to keep me company. Drag her through hell and then hold her on the other side. Nurse her soul back to health and heal all the broken parts of her. I’ll be the sun and moon in her world. All thoughts will revert back to me. Always. “Time to learn this new world of yours, sweetheart.” What Baylee has to go through with Gabe in those two weeks that he's had her was trully horrendous. He managed to take her purity and taint it with his filthy body, take her innocent young mind only to turn it into his later downfall. Baylee is a true fighter and a damn good actress that knows what she must say and do, if she wants to stand a chance to get free from him and all that try to imprison her. But after being bought by War her biggest battle is yet to come. What happens when the new monster turns out to be a saint? And what happens when she starts to feel the inimaginable? This man loves her. Incredibly so. Obsessively so. I should know. But he’ll never touch her again. Once I have her the way I want, she’ll never leave. ... Gabe prepared me for sexual abuse and pain. Not…whatever it is War is. Let's just say that I liked War a hell of a better than Gabe. I'm not gonna give away anything that happened between Bay and War but one thing is for sure. Read the book, you won't regret it!!! All that's left to say is, dear author, job well done!

This is War, Baby is the first part in the War & Peace series; a dark, kidnapping themed read. Baylee, a seventeen year old girl gets abducted by Gabe, her next door neighbour. He is in the market to sell her to the highest bidder but first he breaks her in…so to say - to 'prepare' her for what's to come. That’s pretty much the dark in the book. At around 30%, Bay is finally sold and meets War, the handsome, young and very rich guy with some severe mental issues. War was probably my favourite part of the whole book. His struggles and mental issues are convincingly done and in the grand scheme of things, he is the one thing I really connected with during my whole read. I can’t say there was anything majorly wrong with this book. The story was intriguing, the characters were ok (War in particular) and the writing had a very nice flow. I guess this is one of the books I have to file under ‘it’s me not you’. Maybe I read it at the wrong time, but for the most part I was very indifferent to the outcome and at around 60% I only skimmed the rest. The ending was nothing I didn’t expect. I was actually expecting it, and after talking to a friend who very kindly gave me the rundown of the second book, I am not really interested in continuing with the series. That’s all. Thank you for your time. **ARC very kindly provided by author (via NetGalley) in exchange for an honest review.

Seventeen year old Baylee is on the recieving end of a certain sexual act, trying desperately to enjoy it despite her sweet boyfriend's inexperience; when a masked man barges in her bedroom and kidnaps her. The masked man turns out to be, Gabe, a man she thought she knew very well. He is her 40 something year old neighbor and her father's best friend. Baylee soon finds out that she doesn't know him at all. Gabe is a sick man that thinks he loves Baylee, but is going to sell her into sexual slavery for money. He vows to come and get her back one day, because she belongs with him. Baylee is sexually abused over and over as he "gets her ready" for the man that buys her. He explains that he is doing it for her own good. Her body needs to learn to respond so it won't hurt. If she tries to escape, he beats her for every step away she takes. This part of the book is obviously pretty dark and twisted, which I was prepared for. I was prepared for disgusting and even horrifying. I wasn't prepared for sweet and heartwarming, which is what I got after Baylee is bought at an auction. Baylee is purchased by War, a 28 year old man imprisoned by his own mind, that erroneously thought he was buying a companion... not a sex slave. He has PTSD, anxiety, OCD, and delusional disorder due to a horrifying event from his past. Baylee doesn't have to worry about him sexually abusing her. His condition won't even allow him to touch her without freaking out about germs and microbes. War is just looking for a companion to help distract him from the voices in his head. At first, his strange ways kind of scare her. Once she comes to understand him better, she sees that he is a broken man; but also a good man. War doesn't want Baylee to feel like a captive, but he doesn't want to let her go either. He feels like his very survival depends on having her with him. He agrees to send money to her family as incentive for her to stay with him. Her mother is dying, and she hopes this money will give her a better chance of getting the liver she desperately needs to survive. Baylee becomes exactly what War needs. She is the only one that allows him a reprieve from the monster living within. They spend all of their time together, and become closer day by day. Baylee comes to care for War very much. She even looks up his mental conditions, and tries her best to help him in any way she can. As their friendship grows, so does their attraction to one another. Baylee loves War, and decides she never wants to leave him; not even when her mom is better. Just because War turned out not to be a sexually abusive lunatic, that doesn't mean Baylee has nothing to worry about. War allows her to have the use of a computer where she learns that her parents never reported her missing. She emails them, but they eventually stop responding. This hurts and confuses her. Not to mention, Gabe is out there somewhere waiting to make his move to take her back. What is going on with her parents? Will Gabe finally track her down and steal her away from the man she loves? I absolutely loved this book! I would have read the whole thing straight through if my traitorous body didn't require sleep. Lol It exceeded my expectations in every way. The characters were all very three dimensional. You will have no problem becoming emotionally invested in what happens to them. Baylee is strong, compassionate, and caring; despite all the messed up things that have happened to her. Gabe is a great villian. The things he does and says will make your skin crawl. My favorite character, from the moment he entered the story, was War. He is so sweet to Baylee. The things he says to her will make you swoon. He is a beautiful man, but he is so incredibly broken. Your heart will break for him. The plot was well paced, and the writing kept my eyes glued to the page the entire time. This book ends on a cliffhanger that will leave you wanting to dive into the next book right away. Luckily, the next book in the series is available so I won't have to wait long to find out what happens next! The author did an amazing job with this story from start to finish. I will not hesitate to read anything else she writes.

What a weird story.... It starts as your usual abduction story. A teenager is abducted from her home; she will be brutally raped repeatedly and then sold to the highest bidder. This is the first part of the book. The scariest thing is that the abductor is her daddy’s best friend and that he is highly imaginative when he rapes her (I will try to avoid eating cucumbers for at least the next month). The scariest thing is that the abductor is her daddy’s best friend and that he is highly imaginative when he rapes her (I will try to avoid eating cucumbers for at least the next month). The second part of the book introduces War, who is the guy that has bought Baylee and he looks like every girl’s wet dream. 27 years old, exceptionally good looking and filthy rich. Except that he has a few personal problems: War is 1. an uptight germaphobe The germs are everywhere. The chance of things going wrong poke at me every second of every day. Images of endless possibilities of my death, torturous thoughts of infection infiltrating my life at every turn, and painful, awful ideas of how others could die inadvertently at my hands flit through my mind continuously on one bloody, disgusting loop. 2. obsessed over numbers and statistics How many hairs would she lose between now and the drive to my beachfront estate? I start calculating her hair loss. If she loses an average of forty hairs per day, then that means she will lose one point six seven hairs per hour. The drive is just over an hour which means she could potentially lose two point oh nine hairs. But, if she loses more along the higher end of that spectrum of fifty hairs a day, that would mean she’d lose— 3. obsessed with patterns He then heads for the sink where three soap bottles line the back. I watch with brazen fascination as he spends a good five minutes scrubbing his hands with all three soaps. 4. afraid of blood and body fluids in general What if I lost control and sunk my teeth into her lip? Would the blood spray all over my white kitchen? Would she bleed out all over the tile, saturating everything in its wake? War does not want to be touched. He does not want other people to touch his things. He does not want to touch other people. And apparently Baylee is his only salvation. Needless to say, War is an extremely interesting character and the way he thinks is the highlight of the book. Two are the mysteries of the book: A) Why nobody is looking for Baylee after she was kidnapped? B) Why is War like that? What happened to him? Judging from his memories, he appeared to be a normal boy until he was 18. Baylee will be a girl lost between the men who have dominated her life until her 18th birthday: i.e. HER THREE LOVERS Her boyfriend Her abductor Her buyer AND THE TWO FATHER FIGURES Her father War’s father I think I have been influenced by War, because even my review has patterns :) Overall, “This is War, Baby” is an extremely interesting story and the start of an extremely interesting series.

RATING: 4 “More than okay.” Hearts!! :) This is War, baby is an emotionally turbulent dark romance, making us audibly gasp and recoil from the horrors Baylee faces at the hands of her captor until we’re finally allowed that release of breath when an unexpected love interest steps on page. In my fantasies, I can dream of a better time. One day maybe she’ll laugh with me. Until that time, I’ll dance with her in my head to the melody only she can create. In my fantasies, I can dream of a better time. One day maybe she’ll laugh with me. Until that time, I’ll dance with her in my head to the melody only she can create. Dark romances can often be a source of stress—particularly for the novice reader—causing us to be so focused on when the plot will push us off the deep end that it’s hard to be absorbed in the romance, but Ms. Webster makes this balance work superbly. Instead of a drawn-out introduction to her captor, Baylee is instantly plunged into a gritty world of betrayal and revulsion, sparing us the anxiety but keeping intact the unhinging emotions stirred in the face of heinous circumstances. She’s violated and demoralized, yet she remains strong-willed to the best of her physical and emotional ability. "Why won’t you move your queen, Bay? It’s the only move.” She starts toward the door but gives me a tender smile. “Because the queen always protects the king.” And then she whispers the last part. “Even from himself.” Things become more complicated when she’s acquired by War, but the more time they spend together, Baylee finding in him an unlikely companion. Their interactions bring both a smile to our lips and heat to our cheeks, Baylee learning to trust once again at the same time teaching War to overcome his personal demons. The romance is unconventional yet no less sweet and heart-aching. My sweet, perfect, counting man. Overall, This is War, baby is engaging from beginning to end, the dark elements appallingly captivating though tolerable given the perfect blend of chemistry, intimacy, and emotions that soon follow after. So many of my bookie friends mentioned how good this book was. Heck, my sister said she stayed up until 4am to finish reading it. I was instantly intrigued and well you can’t beat the raving reviews right? This is War, Baby is a dark and twisted book. It will make you cringe and blush but you can’t help but keep on reading. You will be glued to the pages and nothing else matters until you finish. It’s also a beautiful story and I’m definitely a K. Webster fan. I’m a dark romance junkie, I search for the taboo and kinky stuff and This is War, Baby hit all the right spots and more. It was perfect. I also love the title, what a clever author. This book is not for the faint of heart, however, it’s the perfect first dark read if you want to venture into my world. Come on you know you want to. I promise it will be good. The book begins with Baylee, she’s seventeen and loves her high school boyfriend. She’s an innocent and not experienced. She lives the typical teenage life, until she gets kidnapped, by a family friend, Gabe. Gabe is not a nice guy. He takes young women and trains them to become sexual slaves. He has two weeks with Baylee to make her do deprave things. After that she’s to be sold to the highest bidder for a nice profit. “I was angry with him but when he flays open his heart and exposes raw parts of him, I can’t help but be intrigued.” First off, a few of you may think, another kidnapping / sex slave book? Oh no, it’s not a typical kidnapping / sex slave book. This book is so much more. The beginning is just the cusp of what you will get. I really loved Baylee, I felt like the author portrayed her accurately. While she is with Gabe she learned she wasn’t a little girl anymore and did what she had to do in order to survive. Gabe cruel, mean and loves Baylee. He does things to her to make sure she is ready for her buyer, but he also enjoys breaking her. It was addicting to read what he was doing to her and I know I should look away, but I was hooked. This isn’t the whole book, the book will shift when Baylee is sold and that’s where the real fun begins. My favorite part is when Baylee is sold and a new character comes to play. He’s not your typical Hero and that’s what makes this author a writing genius. He’s flawed, damaged and very tortured. You feel for him and crave to know more about him and his past. Who is he? “I could listen to her speak for eternity. To put her voice on an endless loop that would get me through my maddening existence.” “She revives dead parts of me. She’s the sun, water and earth. And I’m a see that has hope to grow into something strong and beautiful.” “Our connection is on a cellular level that I’m afraid can never be severed” This book was an unexpected treat and surprise. I was blown away by the writing quality and storyline. I haven’t read any book like this and believe me I’ve read plenty of kidnapping books. Your heart will be racing but oh it’s such a wonderful ride. This is War, Baby #1 AMAZON This is Love, Baby #2 To Be Release March 29

Will she be able to get through him??? Will War opened up his mind and allow Baylee to step in his mind and heart??? Will their love conquer all their demons??? Will they have the ability to heal each other??? “Why won’t you move your queen, Bay? It’s the only move.”... "Because the Queen always protects the king... Even from himself." Honestly, i don't know what else to say to you!!!! This was a wonderful, yet tough story that was involving brutal sex scenes, a little bit of Stocholm Syndrom especially in the beginning, sex trafficing and many psychological tendencies!!!! Yep, it was a very fucked up and complicated story which was very intriguing and it was grabbing you from the first page till the last one... “You’re not my prisoner... But you are like a miracle drug, Bay. For some reason, I don’t obsess over numbers and germs and patterns. Each time you open your mouth, I’m fixated on your words. I’m drawn to the way you say them. When I’m around you, I don’t obsess over my problems because I obsess over you.” Baylee was a normal girl to whom happened the most awful thing in the world!!! She was very young and she had to get through hell because of a person that she was trusting in some point in her life.... She had to survive, so she had to adjust in this fucked up situation that he had forced her... and i think that there her mind got messed up and she got confused!!!! But i could totally understand her!!!! She had no choices because they were stolen by her!!!! And then she met War and she bloom!!! "War is an ocean I’ll never be able to navigate. His head a sea of unchartered, choppy waves. I feel as though I’m an inexperienced swimmer in a sinking boat and he’s the treacherous, stormy waters threatening to pull me under into the darkness with him. Something tells me I’ll drown. That I’ll never understand what goes on inside his head. I’ll lose my mind trying to figure him out." My most favorite person in this book was War... I loved him even though that i wasn't expecting him!!! He was anything from what i was waiting to see... He had so many issues, but he had such a pure and golden heart!!! Honestly, i don't have words to describe him, so i will only say that i love him very, very much!!! And i can totally understand how he manage to stole Baylee's heart too!!! “Your light is already seeping into the dark parts of my soul and I’m not about to let that slip away for a second... I know I can’t live without that light.” As for Gabe??? I didn't feel anything good for him!!! He was a worthless, manipulated man!!! He was delusional and his heart was black!!!! His phychological problems were way too many!!!! His actions and his words didn't match at all!!! And i hated him for all those things that did to Baylee!!!! “I like ‘em dirty. And you’re as dirty as they come. Soon, you’ll be just as dirty on the inside,” he murmurs against the shell of my ear, sending goosebumps over my flesh. “You’ll like it too. In fact, you’ll love it. One day you will thank me.” {Gabe} One person that i also liked very much was War's father, Land... But they're saying that the apple will not fall far away from the apple tree, right??? And somewhere here, i will leave you, because i have to find out what will happen next after that ending!!!! I need answers and i need the good to conquer the bad for once again... What can i say??? I'm a sucker for a HEA!!!! “Forgive me if my mind takes over and makes me its fucking hostage again. Promise me, beautiful.” “I promise. I’m still yours even when you don’t want me.” “You’re always mine and I’ll never stop wanting you.” ***ARC kindly provided via NetGalley for the exchange of an honest review***

I tried. I really did. But after about 20% I just couldn't take anymore. I know A LOT of people loved this book, and told me it gets really good as it goes on. But the beginning turned me off so much that I just didn't want to continue. I have read this premise before, and even though there were some extremely uncomfortable moments in that book, there was something romantic and poignant about it that drew me in. Every once in a while you read a book you hate because it's so good, and you kind of wish you wrote it yourself. And that's exactly what happened to me with This is War, Baby. Five dark stars.

Webster’s wicked and twisted mind, she has once again delivered an epic mind-blowing, heart-pounding, dark, raw, gritty, devious and calculating romance that pushes boundaries. This is not a fairytale romance. There is no knight in shining armor. There is only darkness, torment, cruelty, and little hope. There is Hell where monsters exist. And then there is WAR. K.Webster is well aware that I am such a BIG fan of her dark romance. I have always told her this trope is made for her because she is one of few dark romance authors who knows how to keep her readers hostage. She will f*ck with your mind in such a way that you will BEG for more and trust me she has left me begging for more. “With every frown she tries to hide. Every tear she swipes away. Each unanswered email from her parents, I know. She’s nothing but a well-paid prisoner. ” Baylee is a normal seventeen year old girl, who has a boyfriend that she loves and adores. Her life was simple and easy-going with her two loving parents. She has an overbearing and protective father and a mother, who is deeply ill and in need of a transplant. Besides worrying about her mother, Baylee is a normal teen that is until she is taken from her home. Everything that she loved and cherished were ripped out under from her. And soon Baylee finds herself kidnapped and taken captive by a family friend that she trusted. The Baylee now is ruined. A prisoner. A victim. An object used for personal enjoyment. Baylee’s life now belongs to a monster who will sell her to the highest bidder. “I’m a distraction from his mind. The fact that he’s called me Peace only further proves what he thinks of me.” Sold like a cattle on the market, Baylee finds herself with a new owner and his name is War. But unlike the other man who took Baylee, War is different. He is odd and has these strange OCD habits and thoughts. War wants Baylee. He wants to keep her forever. He wants her companionship. Her touch. Her presence. Her calming nature to balance him out. As Baylee learns to trust and begin to love War, what happens when she discovers there is another monster lurking around who wants to bring her back into the darkness? Will Baylee be able to survive the abuse from her former owner or will it be too late for War to rescue her? Can Baylee outsmart her captor? “I could feel the dark, twisty parts of me infecting every cell, membrane, and bone in my body. I was tainted. With her blood. Their blood. And the disease of my despair. There was no cleansing something so tainted. This was who I was now. This was War.” This is War, Baby can only be summed up as PHENOMENAL!!! This book. This author. These characters. This storyline. This is what dark romantic suspense is supposed to be. And K.Webster proved to her loyal dark romantic fans that she will outsmart and outplay each and every one of us as she keeps us guessing what is her next move. All I can say is that This is War, Baby is a masterfully crafted and wicked read. It is dark, raw, gritty, suspenseful, consuming and yet delivers that subtle undertone of love. I’m not saying it is a perfect love but the hint of raw emotions and tender moments are beautifully scattered into the story that makes you want to declare War. So if you are looking for a book that is dark and twisted, look no further than this book. K. Webster, we are nothing but a pawn in this wicked story you have orchestrate and so please hurry up with the next book or else I would have to declare WAR on you. “I ran from someone who needs me. He needs me in his world for it to make sense.” Review can also be found on Four Chicks Flipping Pages: http://fourchicksflippingpages.weebly...K. Webster

Sometimes I'll just dive into a book on blind faith or simply due to a recommendation of a trusted book friend. That was the case with This is War, baby. I'd never read a book before by K Webster but the dark premise of it called out to my inner dark-read whore. Not going into a lot of detail on plot, this book is definitely of the darker nature but far less dark than a lot of books out there. This author credited Pepper Winters for dark-read advice and that's a great comparison. This author credited Pepper Winters for dark-read advice and that's a great comparison. It's a human trafficking/captive trope but also morphs into an unconventional love story with her "buyer." Warren McPherson (aka War) is a very rich, tortured and lonely man when he wins Baylee in a human trafficking auction. He's a social recluse and I loved loved loved how K Webster built his character. I found it refreshingly different and put a fresh spin on a rather overused plot device. Baylee is his muse...his kryptonite and I loved the progression of their love story. It was unhurried and kept my interest, anxiously anticipating his backstory explaining why he is the way he is. Let's just say War gets so much more than he paid for with Baylee. Within the darkness of his mind and overall theme of This is War, baby, we are gifted with patience and understanding on Baylee's part, healing and hope on War's. So yah, there's some darkness, especially in the beginning. Some is a bit graphic and if you're a fan of cucumbers in your salads, you may...um...take a break from them for a while after reading this book. But all things must come to an end a head with this massive cliffhanger. Luckily the next book is out March 29th. It can't come soon enough. Another new author for me in 2016 that I'll be sure to stalk in the future. I love this resolution to try new authors...it's not let me down yet!

*I received and ARC for my honest review* Holy Hell this book!!!!! So, normally in my reviews I like to give a little information about the characters BUT there is no way I can do it with this book because I don't want to give anything away. Webster's writing and her storylines are so amazing, I'm still trying to figure out how she comes up with this stuff. I LOVED the characters and I LOVED to hate one in particular. I will warn you, there is a cliffhanger and normally I don't like them, but to be honest I was so glad for this one! I literally said out loud, "YES! I get more of this story!" The feels. Pain. Torture. Fear. Love. Anguish. Sadness. Joy. . . . all pushing and pushing in my mind, trying to escape through my fingers in this review. Each one fighting the other for supremacy, that they're all meshed together as one. To label this book as anything but a 5+++ star read, would be the worst understatement ever. This book wrecked me. If you tried reading this book and could not finish, shame on you. Because you've missed out on one of the best books I've ever read. I know the subject matter is strong and explicit, I get it. That's why it's taken me this long to read it. But knowing now what I've just read, never reading This Is War, Baby would've been one of the biggest mistakes I would've ever made. Trust me. ~Kelly

[insert gong sound] "It is time...to face the dark" Nooooooo..... What the ever loving fuck???!!!! What kind of ending is that?! Ok, i ll go straight forward...and won't be writing the full review for book 1 until i get to the bottom of this... But just to state this-it starts as dark as possible (i even had a moment of slight consideration of denying myself further encounters with a certain vegetable in question, yeah that sequence was a bit gross, even for me) then the story turns onto a 360 degrees [insert gong sound] "It is time...to face the dark" Nooooooo..... Fuck that ending...moving on to get my answers...

Find all of my reviews at: http://52bookminimum.blogspot.com/ When I first saw this over on NetGalley about 124 years ago, I reeeeaaaallllyyyyy wanted it – mainly because the title made me think it was going to be this type of story . . . . Then a couple of my friends read it and not only proved that my brain is a complete and utter failure because this was most def NOT a Mr. and Mrs. Smith revamp, but that there also included an unreadable part featuring a garden vegetable. But I ain’t skeered. I’m just like this cat . . . . And now that I finished???? Ha! I keed. I’m pretty sure I’m allergic to cucumbers now. Seriously though. I kinda almost want to give this 5 Stars . . . . I mean, it was just soooooo bad that it was good. From “slurpy” oral sex to awful smexytalk like such . . . . “I want to make you orgasm over and over again just to see the look on your face.” This was a trainwreck I couldn’t pry my eyes from and my reading experience was pretty much the equivalent of . . . . . . Aside from cucumber double penetration and really bad dialogue, you’re probably wondering what War and Peace was even about. Well, pull up a chair and get comfy ‘cause it was pretty much about ERRRRRYTHING and I’m going to SPOIL THE CRAP OUT OF IT FOR YOU. Still here? Okay, let’s do this. It all starts with Baylee getting some slurp done on her hoo by her boyfriend who can’t seem to locate the little man in the boat (probably because he’s so drooly) when a masked man barges in the room, knocks ol’ Moral Oral out and snatches (hehehe snatch) Baylee off to a cabin in the woods. Once unmasked, she discovers the kidnapper is none other than the neighbor fella she has always thought was kinda hot. Neighbor fella thinks the same of Baylee, but he also needs some money so he plans on selling Baylee to a sex ring and then kidnapping her back. But first (!!!!) he has to “train” her . . . . . And don’t you know that ho has one of those daggum “traitorous bodies” that makes her have an O-Face even when she’s getting pounded like a nail by a super raper. Soon her two weeks of schooling end and she finds herself auctioned off to the highest bidder . . . . “You are never allowed to touch me. Ever. Are we clear?” And I was like: OH HEY THERE WEIRDO!!!! Apparently he just wants a companion and Baylee is willing to stay if “War” will help grease some palms and get her momma a new kidney on the black market or whatever means is necessary to keep her from croaking. But you know they is going to road trip to pound town too! (Oh, and in case you’re wondering “War” isn’t some post-zombie-apocalypse name or some shit. It’s just short for Warren – which if you are cool at all you will automatically associate with . . . . . #RexManningDay) Back to our story. So Baylee and War finally do the bang bang, we find out the superbadawful that turned him into a superfreak, Cucumber Fan No. 1 shows back up right when I’m pretty sure (view spoiler)[Baylee’s about ready to discover she’s preggers with his bebe kid (hide spoiler)] and then he (view spoiler)[ TOTALLY SHOOTS WARREN!!!! (hide spoiler)] . Fade to black. Cliffy ending. BWAHAHAHAHA SO LAME! I LOVE IT! By the end I was totally channeling my inner Dino Jess . . . . . There aren’t enough thank yous in the world to offer up to my book fairy for this one. YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!!! Fuck it. I’m giving it 5 Stars. Suck it, haters. ORIGINAL "REVIEW:" "Human trafficking, dubious consent, and strong sexual themes" Ummmmmm, YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

Eww... this book has its dark and sick moment. At least for the first quarter and the cliffhanger in the end. The middle part seems to be more pleasant. There are some scene that is just gag worthy. Even though I can be freaky, but there are some lines that can't be cross. One of them is no playing with food. You might need to brace yourself during the part where Baylee underwent sex training by her captor, Gabe. Other books that depict sex slave training will make it feel erotic, but this one is far from erotic, at least in my opinion. I don't think Webster intend to make us fall for Gabe. After Gabe sold Baylee off to a mysterious man, with a promise to come back for her later, the story took a turn in direction, from dark to something more pleasant. The mysterious man turned out to be Warren McPherson aka War. Compare to the other OCD characters I've read, War seems to be one of the extreme to the effect that he don't leave his home, eat only vegetables and don't ever touch other people. His brass, rude and unpleasant attitude hide a lonely man plague by his inner demon. I enjoyed reading the part whereby Baylee and War seems to start understanding and slowly develop feelings for each other. War is not an easy man to love, but Baylee was able to see past his illness and embrace his flaws. On the other hand, we also have quite a suspense in regards to Baylee's parents. I'm racking my head thinking of possible reason for her parents to be acting weird. I can't wait to get all my questions answered. Something tells me that the sequel is gonna be another twisted one, seeing the crazy cliffhanger we have. I'm not sure how can I handle it.
