Now she can’t help but wonder how far she’d be willing to go to make sure she doesn’t lose the love of her immortal life…

I was in a spot where I couldn’t listen to anything but I could read so this seemed like the perfect fit when I found out about it. Short and sweet this novella isn’t necessary to the development of the story but it really does set the stage for some things in book three. It also broke my heart a bit. This novella isn’t necessary to the overall story thus far as I can tell but it really added some insight into not only the world but Georgina and Seth. Georgina is sent to the demonic version of jury duty to stand in for her boss. An immortal was murdered and they are to have a tribunal where its not really about truth and justice but bribes and power plays. Since he pulled her away from her vacation away with Seth her boss did decide to send Seth with her which may be more trouble than help as Georgina begins to think Seth is up to something. The trial itself was rather fun. I loved the idea of the one bribe and what it would mean. The whole concept was interesting for sure to see the inner workings of demon court. Still the happy fun times I was expecting for my couple broke my heart a bit. Some things are done and it left me rather upset at Seth, though I do acknowledge both made mistakes. In the end the court case was a win for me and the other aspect not so much as it knocked me off my happy place for my ship. *****SPOILERS***** * * * * * * * * So the part that annoyed me with Seth was the cheating. Not the physical. He had the okay to do that and while it would have been hard to see it was acceptable. But for me, given their circumstances, what he did was worse. He emotionally cheated on her. He can’t pull himself from his writing for her, the woman he loves for anything but he pulled himself away and engaged with Beth. He opened up to her about things he wouldn’t tell Georgina. He always says he doesn’t need the physical he loves her and what they have but then he goes and basically does that with someone else. So he’s emotionally cheating on her and then makes her feel unwanted when she is trying with him sensing something is up. He couldn’t hold to his own level of honesty and truth. Now I give him props for not doing anything more later but it was the stuff that happened before she took the form that got me. So that is it on my rant. Oh and she did totally ruin their chance to finally be together though given everything it would have been hard to do.

If you like the Georgia Kincaid series this is a really good sub-story. The dark humour of this series is in full flight in this and will keep you laughing. 4.5 stars

I want to cry I loved this book so much. The Georgina Kincaid series is probably my all time favorite series and getting a new piece of it was amazing. This book was previously published in an anthology. Even though I preordered this, I waited so long to read it because I wanted so bad to not be out of new Georgia stories. Does that make sense? I seriously read this slow and carefully to draw it out because I love this world so much. Can we get some prequels? Some more in-between stories? Anythi I want to cry I loved this book so much. Woof, did not like this novella. Glad I was already a fan of the series and only discovered this new insert upon rereading, as this short story is not flattering to either Georgina or Seth, IMO. It does introduce some characters who appear later in the series, but I don't think this story was needed in general... Alas! Woof, did not like this novella. City of Demons is a short story from Georgina Kincaid series written by Richelle Mead, which was first published in the anthology Eternal Lover and later as an e-book. Georgina is asked to attend jury duty, instead of her boss Jerome, in Los Angeles and she is permitted to take Seth Mortensen, her boyfriend, with her. Their excursion to the City of Angels uncovers a lot of the undercurrents in their relationship making them both do stupid things. City of Demons is written rather well. Mead seems to take caution when writing this piece to make it more or less independent from the core series, giving new readers unfamiliar with her work to follow it without confusion. Furthermore, despite its paranormal background the story deals primarily with the insecurities that plague all relationships at some point. This is done realistically and with great respect to the many woes, troubles and questions that we all have. All in all, City of Demons is a wonderfully written short story about the joys and pitfalls of being in a relationship when taking a romantic trip together. It is also a worthy addition to Georgina Kincaid universe – enriching it just a tad more.

I CAN'T BELIEVE I JUST FOUND THIS NOW!!!!! 5 MILLION STARS BECAUSE GEORGINA KINCAID IS ICONIC AND HILARIOUS AND AMAZING. Okay, I do have some minor criticisms. The plot was a little weak and everything resolved too nicely. BUT, YOU KNOW WHAT?? I got another half book's worth of Georgina. And, tbh, I never expect much out of novella collabs. I think even full book worthy if there was more surrounding it, but I really didn’t like the Seth stuff. Not even telling him in the end felt wrong. It made me feel weird that their honesty promise was not held on either side by the end, so if the third book is going from this, they’ll definitely have some major problems

I wish, at the end, Georgina and Seth had come clean about her deception and his source of uneasiness. I wanted them to maintain their commitment to having an open and honest relationship. I don't really know how I feel about this book. The whole Seth drama actually made me feel really uncomfortable and kinda sad. What Georgina was doing was a bit bat shit but at the same time I totally understood her insecurities. I really can't see how their relationship can succeed... and I'm now reminding myself that this isn't real! Richelle Mead you did good. I don't really know how I feel about this book. Funny story, Georgina works in a bookstore with a coffee shop and has an addiction to white chocolate mochas. After seeing them mentioned over and over I decided to give them a try, and they're now my all time favorite Starbucks drink. Georgina is a succubus, working for the archdemons of hell after selling her soul. She may be the only employee of all the evil that awaits us with any sense of her former humanity left. She's in love with Seth, a human who she refuses to be intimate with in order to avoid stealing his pieces of his soul. When her boss sends her to a sort of demon trial in his place, she realizes that her evil cohorts really care nothing for justice but are instead accepting the best bribe for their vote. While there, those who have cause to sway her opinion, use their influence to affect her relationship with Seth. ***Spoilers*** She eventually does the right thing, and only because of her are two somewhat innocent demons fate spared and the guilty party convicted. She wins a bet with one of them that Seth wouldn't stray, even though he doesn't have the ability to be with her. Prior to the bet, she was granted a few hours with Seth, no soul-sucking consequences, and passes that up to help free the two demons who were initially wrongly convicted. If I had one opportunity only to sleep with the love of my life, I don't know that I would have been so noble.. It was a little unrealistic because she could have taken that opportunity before she had even figured out what happened in the murder, but lost it to prove Seth's commitment to her. I hate that she missed out on that, but I suppose that since this is actually taking place between books two and three that would have messed up the story line.

This was a pretty good novella. It wasn’t rushed like many seem to be. It was a well-paced story that delved more into the characters’ personalities and insecurities. While Georgina was a bit petty in this story, it gave a better understanding of her character. As a note, I have read further in the series now, I’m on the 5th book and there is no reference back to this novella at all, so I’m not sure if the drama that unfolded here is explicitly canon to the rest of the story.
