Chirp, the book and the sweet little chick, are so adorable. Chirp goes on an adventure through the red fence, past a cat and some turkeys. A gust of wind deposits him in a can of blue paint before he wanders back to his siblings. Chirp and his siblings are the sweetest little balls of fluff on scrawny stick figure legs, and in only a few lines for their eyes and beak, their expressions are priceless. There's a lot of white space surrounding the pictures but they're brightly coloured and I feel extra detail would have detracted from the cute factor. The illustrations are so simple, not that I think for a minute I could replicate them. Art and I aren't on the best of terms. I like it but it doesn't like me so much. This book would be a helpful tool to teach your little ones primary colours. Each of the five times I've read this book (so far), I've smiled from start to finish. It's a lovely picture book that I'd happily read over and over. This would make a great bedtime story for your own adventurous little chicks. I received a copy of this book from NetGalley (thank you so much to NetGalley and Xist Publishing for the opportunity) in exchange for honest feedback.

Chirp by Dolores Costello. Xist Publishing. Children's Fiction. 5 Stars. An adorable little chick leaves his flock to explore. A cute and cozy baby’s story about the dangers of running away in terms a young child would understand and that isn’t frightening. The colorful illustrations are humorous and cheerful. Thanks to NetGalley and Xist Publishing for providing this ebook for review.

Chirp is an adventurous little chick that decides to explore the world away from the rest of his family. He does not know what awaits him on the other side of the fence. He has to dodge a cat and go by two large birds. When the wind picks him up, he ends up in a pot of blue paint. A little girl rescues him from the paint, but he runs off home. His siblings do not recognize him, but his mother does and he is welcomed home. This is a sweet story that I'm sure small kids will love. It's simple and the illustrations depict little yellow fluffs with a few line for chicks. The simple illustrations and large print make this an easy story to read to and with young children. The message that mother will love and recognize her baby anywhere will reassure little ones. It is also a story to teach about the dangers of wandering off in a simple, non-scary way. A good addition to a family library and for use in kindergarten and pre-school classrooms. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley.

This book is cute enough, a chick gets lost, it gets covered in blue paint (which I think would kill it, because it would smother its pours, but never mind), and its siblings don't recognize it, but its mother does, so everything is ok, and the paint comes off in the rain, the end. Probably reassuring to children who worry that their parents won't recognize them if they disguise themselves. Just don't put paint on your baby chicks. It will probably kill them. Chirp is a sweet little chick who leaves his flock, but ends up embarking on an adventure. The illustrations are charmingly adorable and simple, whilst the text is large and clearly. It's a great book for budding new readers with a simple but enjoyable storyline.

Luckily for him a little girl rescues him from the eminent danger. He tears off back home with his new look and his siblings don't even recognize him, after all he's entirely blue not yellow like the rest of them. Now poor little Chirp is blue both inside and outside. Oh my, my! Thanks to a shower of raindrops and a true Momma's heart (who knows her kids inside and outside) he is reinstated back into the fluffy fold and they all live happily and safely ever after. This is a sweet story that I'm sure small kids will love. It's simple, the illustrations depict little yellow puffs of love and a nurturing Momma who loves her little flock dearly.

Chirp -- a tiny chick -- sets out on an adventure all by himself when his mother and his siblings are napping. He runs into a cat, large birds, gets lifted off the ground by a gusty wind, lands in a paint bucket, meets a kind girl, before he goes back to his family. Much to his dismay, his siblings don't recognise him because he landed in a paint bucket. Remember? What happens after that? I am not going to say. 'Chirp' is for super little readers. And it tells them that they can go on an adventure, make glorious mistakes, and when they come back, their parents would accept them regardless of their appearance and experiences. The picture book, authored by Dolores Costello, is an advocate of parents's unconditional love, and it is ideal to encourage young readers to explore with confidence. Even if everything goes wrong, their parents have got their back. I loved this teeny-weeny chick, and of course, his kind momma. :)

When Chirp is the only one awake at nap time, he decides to go on an adventure to the other side of the fence. What will happen when he accidentally ends up covered in blue paint? His siblings don't recognize him. Will he be able to convince his family that he's really Chirp to be welcomed back home? This is a cute story with simple yet appealing illustrations. I think this would be a good book to spark conversation and introduce the idea of identity to young children. Little Chirp is a curious chick. He wanders out alone when he should be sleeping. He gets mixed in some paint and turned blue. When he gets home his brothers and sisters do not recognize him. But a mother always knows her child. This book isn’t bad, but its not great. The simplistic illustrations are the same way. It feels more like a story a child would tell, than an adult tell a child.

Chirp is a chick—wonder what the others are called—who goes off on an adventure while Mom and siblings are asleep, avoiding cats and falling into buckets of paint, which lead to mistaken identity and crisis. The chicks are drawn as simple fluff balls on leg sticks, but keep a lookout for the little girl, especially her hair.

So cute! A little chick falls into blue paint with unintended consequences the kiddies will enjoy! The illustrations are simple, but effective at complementing the spare text. Kids will enjoy the story. Ages 2 to 6.

The illustrations are simple and charming, but add a nice amount of humor and emotion to the story. I loved the interaction between Chirp and his family toward the end of the story, and how the simplicity of the story makes it solid. However, while it is a charming picturebook that made me smile, and I think many readers will enjoy, I just do not think it was anything astounding.
