Lovely reunion romance with a triangle of sorts caused by the heroine's youth and the heroes uncertainty due to an age difference. Five years ago, Morgan saved Susannah's pride by proposing a sham engagement when he saw her boyfriend making up to another girl. What he didn't realise was that she had already realised her heart belonged elsewhere. When she tried to force Morgan into declaring himself by saying it was time to end the false engagement, he let her go. Now Susannah is back home and Morgan is not happy. Not happy that she stayed away so long leaving her elderly grandmother alone. Not happy that she immediately picks up her friendship with the now widowed ex-boyfriend. With some complications from the arrival of a distant cousin and Susannah not knowing quite who to believe between John and Morgan, it takes quite a bit of sorting to get to our happy ending.

But it seemed everyone was expecting her and John Forrester to make a match of it, only he chose her cousin Francoise instead. Morgan suggested they pretend to be engaged, and Susannah agreed, hoping he would never let her leave. But she hid her feelings too well. Now, another reunion is planned, and Susannah returns home, only to find herself pursued by the wrong man, since John's wife died two years earlier. If only Morgan would show some interest in her, instead of sniping at the length of her absence! Can they untangle their crossed wires and find happiness together? Very sweet romance, quick read, with interesting characters. Especially enjoyed "meeting" characters from previous books by this author. Recommended.

What a charming, vintage romance! The characters are a little one dimensional, but the the romance in sweet, and the plot keeps moving. A refreshing beach read.
