The book includes seventeen members of Congress, representing ten Christian denominations from both political parties.

In this time of such turmoil, political and otherwise, it's easy to forget that God is out there and that he loves us. This book could not be more timely as it is a collection of spiritual thoughts and experiences from both currently serving Congressmen and women and former Congressmen and women. This book could not be more timely as it is a collection of spiritual thoughts and experiences from both currently serving Congressmen and women and former Congressmen and women. The foreword is from a speech given by Paul Ryan, current speaker of the House. Each of the following sections is written by one of the invited participants. Some of the writers share personal or familial experiences that have lead them or kept them in the faith. Others shared thoughts about how their faith helps them in their personal lives and to connect to others both politically and otherwise. It was refreshing to hear about Bible study groups and the work that these accomplished politicians put into doing their jobs the best they know how with God's guidance. And even though there is great disagreement between some of these people, it's nice to know that they all look to God in their lives for comfort and direction. The stories in here are both ordinary and remarkable. There are stories of spiritual impressions that lead to saved lives and survival in the most desperate of conditions. Stories of examples and reaching out to others who are different. While many religions and beliefs are represented here, they all have one thing in common: a strong belief in God and His love for each one of us. At this conflicting time of great emotion, I found great comfort knowing that there are still those in our government who find the time and energy to call upon God for help. There is hope for our country as long as individuals at all levels make the time to seek God.

This was actually pretty good and gives you a little hope that there are some in congress looking to do good.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I have to say I have never really thought about members of congress, and their thoughts or feelings about God, it is something I have always hoped but didn't know for sure. This book will leave no doubt in your mind that God helps run the house. I learned that some members of congress meet for prayer meetings and bible groups several times a week. This book was not what I had expected. I thought it would chronicle different ways that members of Congress saw God's involvement in the events and decisions made in the House. Instead, it was a compilation of different Congressional men and women, their personal devotion to God, and how God has directed their decisions throughout their entire lives. The different narratives were written by each individual rather than by the author. It was very refreshing to read their own stories in their own w This book was not what I had expected. I enjoyed some of the testimonials better than others. But all of those individuals spotlighted gave credit to God for their lives and their decisions to run for Congress. It is inspiring to know that members of Congress today still try to make their decisions based on what they feel God would have them do. I was really interested in reading this book in light of the election that just finished up. I was amazed at just how much I enjoyed reading it and I really was impressed with the viewpoints of the different people's essays. There are tons of different backgrounds represented in this book, there are people from California and people from pretty much nowhere rural Tennessee. But each of these people have a few things in common: they believe in God, they believe in scripture study, they believe in prayer, they believe they can make a difference by serving in the House of Representatives. I was really amazed at the number of people that mentioned that they felt that they were almost "called" by Heavenly Father to run for the office that they either hold or held. Such amazing people with amazing stories! I loved this book!
