COLORFUL CHARACTERS, MOUTH-WATERING CUISINE, AND NEW ORLEANS' SEEDIEST CRIME SCENES — AT A KILLER PRICE A simple man with a refined palate, maverick New Orleans lawyer Tubby Dubonnet has a penchant for fishing, Old Fashioneds, off-track betting, and fighting evil while passing a good time. Passing a good time, of course, includes dodging drug dealers, running from the mob, solving medical lab murder mysteries, thwarting hurricane season bank heists, and keeping a crime boss out of local politics. Now you can read his first five Anthony and Edgar-nominated thrilling adventures for only .... Settle down — preferably with a hearty snack — and enjoy this hard-boiled mystery series that's as chock full of laughs as it is chills! CROOKED MAN Meet lawyer Tubby Dubonnet. His clients are all renegades from the asylum (aka Orleans Parish), including a transvestite entertainer, a buxom deadbeat blonde, a doctor who refers his own patients to a malpractice lawyer, and a Mardi Gras reveler who drives a float shaped like a giant crawfish pot. His new client is Darryl Alvarez, the manager of a local nightclub who's been caught unloading marijuana from a shrimp boat. At their first meeting, Darryl entrusts Tubby with an ordinary-looking blue gym bag. But after Darryl's unfortunate demise, Tubby realizes he must tighten his grasp on the gym bag — and its million-dollar contents. Tubby can’t just give up the cash. But if he gets caught, he’ll be in jail. And if the wrong people catch him, he’ll wish he was. CITY OF BEADS Tubby Dubonnet is bored. He wants to bill enough hours to pay his alimony and keep his daughter in college, with enough left over for an occasional drink and a good meal, but he longs for something different and exciting. Sure, researching licensing law for the new casino will keep trout meunière on the table, but what could be more tedious? (Unless, of course, the client turns out to be connected.) Meanwhile, there’s the estate of an old friend who controls some dock leases on the wharf. And he agrees to help his daughter’s environmental group stop illegal dumping in the river. Ho-hum, thinks our hero. But suddenly all three cases begin to converge in an entirely ominous way...  NOW Tubby's doing something exciting — he's running for his life! TRICK QUESTION Medical lab janitor Cletus Busters is caught red-handed in a restricted area with the frozen head of Dr. Whitney Valentine, one of the lab's most prestigious researchers. Busters won't say much, except that he's innocent. But given his conspicuous record and past as a voodoo guru, all signs point to life in prison. Calling Tubby Dubonnet! SHELTER FROM THE STORM To out-of-town kingpin Willie LaRue, Mardi Gras seems the perfect time for a New Orleans heist – nobody, but nobody will be thinking about a single other thing. Parties, parades, chaos, alcohol – who could be concerned about a little thing like a bank job? Indeed, all might have gone well except for an out-of-season frog-flogger that threatens to flood the French Quarter – something even Hurricane Katrina couldn't do. Next thing you know the survivors – thieves and revelers alike – find themselves marooned together.

I downloaded this set free because I had not read Thick Question. I had already read all the other books and have enjoyed all of them. Dunbar does a great job of showing us the New Orleans that is not just what the tourists see. I am always hungry for New Orleans food after reading his books. Corlorful characters that come off the page as real people. I recommend the series to anyone who enjoys a good crime story with a bit of fun thrown in.

ABSOLUTELY LOVE THESE BOOKS!!! Tony Dunbar draws you into the stories, so you feel like you are right there. Feeling the life going on in New Orleans! From the multitude of characters and the life in New Orleans. From the parades and even the crazies that inhabit the area. Tubby Dubonnet handles it all, from an ex-wife, daughters and the various clients that cross his path. Bad guys abound and Tubby handles it all!! Any Tubby Dubonnet story, will keep you entertained! All books are a MUST READ!!

Occasionally, mysteries will grab my attention. This series grabbed me with both hands. I read these 5 straight through and thoroughly enjoyed them. Tubby can get himself is some perilous situations but he always manages to get himself out of them, usually, if not to his own, then to someone else's deserving benefit. This series was interesting, well written, and made me laugh out loud. I recommend this series. Occasionally, mysteries will grab my attention. This series grabbed me with both hands. Entertaining I thoroughly enjoyed the set. The first book was annoying due to poor formatting...the setting changed abruptly with no break indicated, but that wasn't an issue in all of them. I can see why someone reading each book singly would feel gypped, as the stories do tend to carry into the next book. However, as a set, it's a great deal! Entertaining I thoroughly enjoyed the set. Excellent Storytelling I love, love, love the Tubby Dubonnet stories! I’m already experiencing withdrawal from this series and I just finished it a few minutes ago. Great storytelling, and a wonderful, magical setting. I highly recommend these books and can’t wait to read more of them. Keep up the good work, Mr. Dunbar!

Sheriff MULEi gets his just deserts. A great follow up to the flood in the last book. The characters ring true in all respects. All towns should have a Monster Mud Bug, and the parades for him to habitat.

New Orleans baddest solicitor Seems like Tubby is a sandwich short of a picnic but stumbles to the concussulion like he really knew what he was doing with a short detour to consort with the fairer sex enroute to the ending

Exceptional reading The Tubby Dubonnet series are wonderfully written stories that tell tales of life in the real world, regardless of how they were dreamed up by Mr Dunbar. I've enjoyed each of them singularly and sequentially. I was looking forward to getting to know a "new to me" mystery author, especially one with a series. USUALLY, I give a book more time, but the first one in this series introduced me to the MAIN GUY who is a complete A**. Dropping this immediately and I recommend you DON'T PICK IT UP! Interesting Although each case/incident was interesting, felt like there was more to be said. Same applies to the end of each volume - like it shouldn't be the end. Solid bloody work Not for the squeamish with a new violent death about every 10 pages but otherwise good less detective story than adventure story.
