“I didn’t come here to talk about your damned marriage,” she pointedly brought the conversation to a close. There was no purpose in going around in circles. “I came to ask for your help.” “Yes, I know.” He was angry now. It was futile attempting to conceal it. The negative emotion fired his blood as lava might a volcano. “You came here for money.” His breath was ragged. The negative emotion fired his blood as lava might a volcano. “You came here for money.” His breath was ragged. "And what would I get for my two hundred thousand dollars?” He demanded, his expression inscrutable. For the first time, Abi saw him as an implacable ruler; a man used to getting everything he wanted. It was intimidating. She swallowed nervously. “More than you know,” she whispered the words, thinking of their son -- sick and scared on the other side of the world. With the exalted Sheikh Kiral Mazroui’s wedding to a much-loved princess only days away, the last thing he expects is for an American lover from his past to arrive at his palace begging for help! At nineteen, Abi McClean was left burned and bitter by Kiral Mazroui. She’d fallen in love with a man, completely ignorant of his exalted status as ruler of one of the most powerful countries in the world. Miserable and alone in the wake of his departure, the discovery of her pregnancy leaves her with one unshakable belief: if The Sheikh knew of the baby they’d made, he’d take it away and raise it with his new wife. But when their son turns two, Abigail realizes they can no longer keep the child’s existence a secret. A heart condition places him in a life or death scenario that only an expensive operation can hope to heal. Still terrified of the consequences, but far more terrified of losing her little boy for good, Abigail flies to the magical-seeming desert kingdom of Delani to ask the one man she’s most afraid of to intervene for the sake of their son. The tangled web of secrets, lies, love and lust continue to weave around this couple and all the while the mythical belief in an ancient tale of The First Sheikh of Delani colours their decisions. With a little boy’s life in the balance and the fate of the country on Kiral’s shoulders, will he be able to choose between his heart and his honour, his duty and his desire? A full-length desert romance by Amazon best-seller and all-star Clare Connelly.

It would’ve been a solid 5 star if only for two reasons! One he was ‘Legally’ betrothed ( he signed the papers on the same day met heroine). Two, even after 3 years it was heroine who chased him down and I have to give her points she didn’t expect or hope anything regarding their old relationship from him, she met with him for another reasons. So it was almost confirmed that eventhough he was in love with her, constantly thought about her since their breakup he didn’t went back to her. And ultimately when he had to chose between his country-obligations and her he chose the former. Which wasn’t romantic, atleast for me. Otherwise it was a good book with Fantastic angst, passionate love and enchanting tales and history. The heroine and secondary characters complimented each other very much. She was strong and courageous and a very good mother. Hero was very cruel to her in the beginning. I totally detested some of his words. So if you like A-hole heros then you will love this. Recommended.

But I am no one’s husband yet.” It was, possibly, the most hurtful and hateful thing he could have said. Abi felt the pain of the past all over again. “You lied from the beginning. I fell in love with you and you always knew … you always knew we’d never be more than we were.” “Do I get you, Abi? Would two hundred thousand dollars buy me your company?” She was crying. Sobbing now quite freely. Her eyes were squeezed shut but tears were rolling out of them swiftly. “Stay tonight. Stay with me.” “Here?” She demanded, dashing her tears away. “In the room for palace whores?” Ki’s heart turned over in his chest. The money had been for this. Their son. A momentary shard of guilt punctured his heart. He had blackmailed the woman he had once loved into his bed so that she could pay for lifesaving surgery. “Marriage to you will be far less acceptable to my people. You will be despised for having taken the place of a woman many have long-regarded as the rightful partner to my throne. The fact you kept the child from Delani will make you hated. Your life in these ways will be difficult. Then again, it is no worse than you deserve.

I’ve had trouble settling on a book lately. It’s been years since my last Sheikh romance book. So I thought I’d give this a try. Unfortunately and unusually for me I didn’t check reviews first. My expectations were not high going in. I fully expected this to be your average 3* read. It wasn’t even that. I didn’t particularly like any of the characters and the whole thing was just meh.

It's been years since I've read this trope and found that it no longer appeals to me. The overbearing, arrogant hero was off-putting and Abi's decision in this day and age was unacceptable. Granted she couldn't be sure that Kiral wouldn't take her son from her, but he still had a right to know that he had a child. There was some romance and intimacy in this book, but ultimately I was disappointed. There were also some editing problems the should have been picked up, “prey” instead of “pray” etc.

Stereotypical ruler of another country gets woman pregnant and then goes to marry an arranged marriage for the good of country. Finds out mistress is pregnant/had his child and dumps arranged marriage and marries mistress. It wasn't the best romance but I did enjoy reading this still. Would I read again?: Maybe Would I read this author again?: Maybe

Not as good as I was expecting after reading another Secret Baby book by Connelly. I didn't mind the reason for the separation, it made sense, and the H/h were truly mad for each other which is sweet and seems to be a common theme in Connelly's books. I just never felt any real chemistry between the two, we were TOLD how much they adored each other, but even when the hero was trying to prove it to the heroine towards the end, she wasn't hearing it and kept running from him, but then immediately Not as good as I was expecting after reading another Secret Baby book by Connelly. Also, the hero never bonded or had any scenes with the sick son and that was strange since the whole book is b/c of the child's existence and medical issues. Many aspects of this book definitely could have been executed better.

The Sheik’s Secret Baby – (Royals of Delani – Book 1) - Clare Connelly This is the first time I’ve read a book by Clare Connelly and wow, what a great first read. Abigail McClean met Kiral Mazroui three years ago. They had a short but intense relationship and at the end Kiral told her that they couldn’t be together any longer, left her heartbroken and pregnant. Should she have told him? Probably! Did she do the right thing keeping baby Michael a secret? For her as his mother and believing she knew what the consequences would be, yes. Did she do the right thing going to ask him for money when she needed it for his surgery? Absolutely! Will it end well? Who knows! Clare Connelly has written a wonderful story of love, heartbreak, misconceptions, angst, anger, hate, growth and redemption. She has written this story in a way that makes it impossible for you to put this book down! Her characters are relatable and it is not hard to become immersed in this story. Five Star read to be sure! I will be picking up a Clare Connelly book again soon!

Duty Desire Love Sheikh Kiral met and fell in love with Abigail and broke up with her soon after not knowing that she was pregnant with his heir Michael who had a heart condition. Sheikh Kiral ended a previous engagement to force Abi to marry him. They had some bumps in the road that they eventually worked out to have their HEA. I see Princess Jalilah and Will getting together in the future.

No matter where you go, there you are! It's no Elizabeth Lennox story. The way Elizabeth Lennox described many love scenes; this one foes not. However, this story I think will hold your attention just from the sheer sappiness. Why can't everyone lose their virginity to a hot Sheik? Life's not fair! Speaking of which did the author select Melanie as a character name because of POTUS TRUMP? I don't like it; to each their own.

The mysterious mermaid Abi and Ki's story was filled with so many strong emotions. The pain of love found but lost. The love of a mother for her child. The desperation of a mother to save her son. The mystery of a fable and the duty of a sacred position all created a beautifully magical story.

Good It was a good story, i enjoyed the angst and drama and the whole sanctimonious attitude of our hero, knowing all along how much he loved her. I'm glad it was a duel POV or I'm sure i wouldn't have liked him at all, lol! Could have done with a bit more heated moments, but that's probably just me 😉

I enjoyed this story. I like how Abi does what she can for her son. She also stands up to Kiral. She does get intimidated to bring the wife of a sheik. Karil is angry at Abi, and can be bossy. After their 3-year separation, they are still attracted to each other. . I like how they must work through their problems.

Good It was good, nothing overly original. However, Ms. Connelly told a nice story and I enjoyed reading it. A few places the story skips forward without a chapter, leaving you scratching your head and rereading, but still okay.

Talk about repetition The story was good. However the characters kept going back and forth back and forth about the same issues they never seemed to move on. It’s a bit frustrating when you have to read the same situation just worded differently.
