    Miss 3 doesn't always like non-fiction books but she really liked this one. I think it helped that the pictures and flow still let it feel like a story about exploring at the beach. There are lots of awesome drawings and the facts are presented simply and woven into the text. You don't need to write a lot about erosion, sedimentary cliffs, and long shore drift when you can simply show pictorially how sand is created! I also liked that some of the facts are reassuring - like that sand hoppers eat Miss 3 doesn't always like non-fiction books but she really liked this one. I think it helped that the pictures and flow still let it feel like a story about exploring at the beach. There are lots of awesome drawings and the facts are presented simply and woven into the text. You don't need to write a lot about erosion, sedimentary cliffs, and long shore drift when you can simply show pictorially how sand is created! I also liked that some of the facts are reassuring - like that sand hoppers eat dead vegetation (not people!) and I found the book interesting myself. Nice too that the last few pages of pictures of all kinds of fun things to do at the beach - like swimming, exploring, making sandcastles etc.
