An okay read. So like many of the new heroes on Marvels movie line up, one is Black Panther who I have always wanted to read more about, and I finally got to read some! Panthers Rage is okay for the most part, it is a bit old school since it came out in the 70s. So the story has Erik Killmonger, and what I am assuming is some of Black Panthers other villains plan a coup on Wakanda, and T'challa has to stop them! It was nice to see where Killmonger came from since I think he will be the villain f An okay read. It was nice to see where Killmonger came from since I think he will be the villain for the Black Panther movie. But its mostly an average read in my opinion, theirs a few side plots going that I didn't really care for; also the transitions between issues are very weird even for that time; basically what would happen is that something would happen, and lets say Black Panther is severely injured, the next issue will pick up a few days later, not directly after, which made the issues jarring to read and I would often have to read a couple of pages to know what was going on! Overall, worth reading, if you wanna know more about Black Panther, but on its own its a okay story at best.

I would possibly agree that this tale could be one of Marvel's first full graphic novels as the Panther's Rage ran for some length. Is it worth a read? Definitely! Not only does it stand out from other Marvel comics back then and even now as the cast is predominantly black and it is set outside of New York and America. But also Wakanda itself is almost a character in its own right as this tale shows the beauty of the small but technologically advanced place that T'Challa reigns as King. Each piece of writing is bleak but almost poetic as Black Panther and his kingdom is threatened by a man called Killmonger who wants to bring BP to his knees and destroy everything that Wakanda is. Black Panther and some of his closest are fully put to the test emotionally and physically in this epic tale.

This collection just couldn't hold my interest, I'm afraid. There was nothing bad about it, but it seemed a bit repetitive and the pieces of the story that struck my fancy weren't those involving the main character. Your mileage may differ.
